Despite ugly loss in Arizona, Vikings still have their swagger
This is just getting tiring. Peterson has 1103 yards on the season and 12 touchdowns. He's 3rd in total yards and 2nd in touchdowns. All of you "Debbie Downers" just really need to check yourself before you start mashing the keyboard. Those numbers are *fantastic*. Any team that has a running back that can consistantly put up 1000+ yards in a season is practically a lock for going to the post season. Get a grip, perhaps you should think about upping your dosage. You need a little balancing out. (17 hrs ago | post #18)
Lotterman: State revenue crunch makes Vikings stadium subsidy s...
People like this are just too shallow in thought to understand this. Ask youself *why* the state is 1.2 billion in debt. It's all due to the Wilfs and the Vikings players right? It's all their fault and removing them from the area will solve it all completely and fully correct? I seriously try to steer clear of the name calling here but I think it's called for here. You are all "UNINFORMED ", (including the person who wrote this incredibly narrow-minded article), if you think that removing the team from the area is going to help the economy. You would be removing something in the area of 35 million in tax money from the state FLAT OUT. Then you'd be removing all the revenue from the surrounding businesses that gets generated from them play their games here. You'd also be removing the TV revenue that gets generated from televising the games along with the revenue generated from the advertising thats involved in all facets of the game, TV, and local business's. What other organization contributed that much money to the state short of a 3M (whos moving their HQ to Thailand by the way for the tax breaks) or perhaps a Medtronic? I can guarantee you that there are very few of them thats for sure. The STATE needs to cut spending so that we can make concessions to keep a Minnesota legacy in-tact. IrishMN made mention in another post that we are providing "Welfare for the Rich" if we make a new stadium happen. How would this be "Welfare for the Rich" if they were to invoke the Racino, or put slot machines in all the bars, or instil a luxury tax of 2 cents on the dollar for Rentals, Hotels, Motels, Vacation destinations, Flights, Theme parks, or Alcohol? All of which have been proven to work perfectally to solve this very issue with dozens of states throughout the country. All of which would cost all you "nay-sayers " absolutely nothing what so ever and the stadium would be owned by the state. It wouldn't and you can't deny it. It would be a revenue generating entity throughout it's lifespan and a sound investment. More than you can say about any other venture the MN government has ever put into action. $1.2 billion state deficit? No problem, say Vikings stadium pro...
Interesting choice of terms there Irish. Intellectually honest. Lets take that a step further, how about Intellectually Responsible? Can you be man enough to say that you are in favor of welfare in one form or another for millions of people and a government that is 1.2 billion in debt that will only come to the resolution of taxing you more to help them cover even more needless spending? I have another question for you there IrishMN, if you were tasked with finding a solution to the stadium situation, what would you come up with? All options that have been put forth have included little to no money from the government. Suggestions and options have been made on many avenues. Your statement of "Welfare for the Rich" is exactley what a democrat wants to be honest. That would make them dependant on the goverment which is what every DFL'r strives for. (Thursday | post #180)
Tom Powers: Less-than-best Adrian Peterson left Vikings wanting
Well, there is your opinion on this subject thats for sure. But Peterson has never run the Off Center gaps. Those gaps (commonly referred to and the 4 and 5 holes) are 99.99995% reserved for QB sneaks and FB blast plays. Peterson is always called to run the off-tackle/tight-end holes (1, 2, 3, 6, 7 and 8) The Center in Minnesota schemes, since the Bud Grant era, has never been a part of the Run block package unless he's pulling. Those holes are only for back's like a Jerome Bettis, Marion Barber, John Riggins, or Mike Alstott. Not a slash and gash runner like Peterson. (Thursday | post #111)

Good lord people... I can see another good thing going on here as well from this game. All you fair weather fans need to go your seperate ways now. Don't let the door hit'cha where the Purple People Eater shoulda bit ya. I hear there's room on every other teams band-wagon out there that you can hitch your distain to. Good riddens. They are 10 and 2, 10 AND 2. Ten WINS and 2, yes, just 2 loses. They had an off game and it didn't come until the 12th game of the regular season. Seriously, why don't you all go be Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Seattle, Oakland, Carolina, or Buffalo fans. Let me know how that turns out for ya. Vikings fans don't run for the hills screaming the "The Sky is Falling!" just from one bad game. We're smart enough to look up and see it's just a raining day and the sun will be out soon enough. Bye now, see ya, take care, buh bye now, bye, take care, buh bye, bye, see ya, take care, buh bye. Please exit the forum in an orderly fashion and ensure that you have collected all your emotional baggage and have taken it with you. $1.2 billion state deficit? No problem, say Vikings stadium pro...
This is so not *off topic* like someone voted. This is the *EXACT* topic. Every single person on here complaining about no tax money to be used for a new stadium just can't phathom the real issue here. This state, a smaller mirror of what "Wellstoned " posted here is 1.2 billion in debt. Let me say that again there for you people, One point two BILLION in debt! There are too many government organizations and policies RIGHT NOW. Lets take a look at that issue shall we? Being since there is a DFL controlled House and Senate in this state, the government programs, policies, organizations, and personel increase. The whole foundation of the DFL party is to *increase government dependancy in the general population* thus you are left with every increasing taxes, ever increase debt, and ever increase finger pointing. You people who don't put any thought into this have never taken a moment to realize that a democratic controlled government is going to tax the hell out of anyone or anything they can. Big businesses have been leaving MN faster than they ever have and it's not because of the economy like the DFL's party would want you to believe, it's because a state controlled by democrats answers every issue with "MORE TAXES". They don't cut plans, they don't help out the small businessman or the guy trying to make ends meet working 4 jobs. Those are their primary targets! They target home owners, They target hard working people, They target businesses both large and small. Plain and simple, you balance the budget by cutting policies, organizations, and programs. You increase efficiencies withing the current government machine, you don't add to it and you don't increase taxes to cover up the bloatedness. Now, if there was a surplus right now or even a balanced budget. Would there even be any discussion on this? No, the stadium would be approved, everyone would be happy on both sides of the fence, and this forum wouldn't be 60 miles long. (Monday Dec 7 | post #175)
Tom Powers: Less-than-best Adrian Peterson left Vikings wanting
There was *nothing* that came up the middle all game. Sullivan is doing better than Birk ever did in his first season starting. 1 missed snap in 16 games. If there were Center ratings like QB ratings, that would put him at the 157 mark. (158 is perfect) (Monday Dec 7 | post #36)
Tom Powers: Less-than-best Adrian Peterson left Vikings wanting
People please, Warner and the Cardinals showed up for that game. Warners last 4 games he's had a QB rating of 140 or better. The Cardinals beat the Vikings through the air, not on the ground. The Defensive line was adequate, the Linebackers got a passing grade, the corners and Safety's stunk it up like a 6 month old litter box and the offense decided to take a game off. All in all I think this game will have a huge humbling effect on them and they will take this sobering and somber night straight into the post season. This isn't a bunch of rookies riding the emotional knifes edge, this is a bunch of pro-bowl veterans they don't take kindly to getting punch in the face like that. I expect the Cincinatti game to be a statement. (Monday Dec 7 | post #34)
$1.2 billion state deficit? No problem, say Vikings stadium pro...
All of you termites that are infesting this forum about there not being any money for a new stadium completely missed the point of this article. These organizations are looking for *solutions* to the issue. Not just looking for a hand-out. There are always options to get this done without increasing taxes. Now you tell me, would you be opposed to a new stadium, completely funded by state controlled revenue generating investments that would not increase your taxes what-so-ever? We all know your answers so don’t even bother. Simple infrastructures could be put in place to pay for the stadium outright and also be used to help lighten the tax burden on Minnesotans for many years to come. Suggestions have been made about State Run Casino's. I think they are thinking too small. I would personally like to see a half-dozen slot machines in every bar in the cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis. That would cover the 30 million a year they would need for the stadium payments and about another 20 million a year into the states coffers. Plus it truly targets the majority of the people with money to send. So instead of flaming on with your uninformed posts, come up with solutions instead of your mindless blatherings. How about you pay attention to the real reasons that the state is 1.2 billion in debt? Do you get into debt by working hard, getting paid, and only taking on the luxuries you can afford? Or do you get into debt by buying a Ferrari when you work at McDonalds? Ask yourself *how* a state can get 1.2 billion in debt when it's the #4 highest taxed state in the nation? http://articles.mo neycentral.msn.com /Taxes/best-and-wo rst-taxes-by-state .aspx (Get a clue you neophytes) (Friday Dec 4 | post #84)
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson still fighting fumbleitis
Umm, yeah... Your knowledge of football is showing, you might want to zip up there... I completely agree that it's his 3rd year in the league and this should have been cleared up by now, but he is by no means washed up. He is still putting up solid numbers for a 3rd straight year even with teams keying off him, practically all of his yards come after contact. Teams still fear him and they play entire games trying to stop him. It's like they haven't recognized that Mr. Favre is at the helm yet and are still playing defensive schemes from 2 years ago, and quite frankly, more power to them. Let them play run defense for the entire game, hurts my feelings to watch them get peppered and shelled all day like a target dummy 50 yards out at the M203 range (Thats a Grenade Launcher for the civilians out there). With Favre threading needles all over the field and with 6 to 8 random targets that are consistantly pulling it down, yes, by all means, every team out there should continue to do nothing but stop the running attack of the Vikings. The first team that attempts to change this and cover all the passing targets, is going to get gashed for 300 yards on the ground, guaranteed. Well, you are entitled to you opinions, however fictitious they might be. Perhaps you should take a look back at all the Packer Fan posts on this forum for say.. 16 years and tell me how many Packer Fans have posted intelligent, factual, insightful messages vs. the Mindless, Surface-Thought, Stirring-the-Pot Drivel that has been posted? I'll take the easy one. 3 Posts (not including yours) in favor of intelligent, factual, insightful messages. You get started on counting the others. We can reconvene in the year 2062 to discuss your findings. You should be about 20% done by then, if the numbers from NASA are correct that is ... (Wednesday Nov 25 | post #50)
Minnesota Vikings-Arizona Cardinals moved to prime time
Here's an idea, take all this extra revenue they are getting from the Vikings by moving them to all prime time games, and put a down payment on a new stadium? It's got to be something in the Multi-million dollar range. This makes the 3rd game they've bumped to Prime Time. Probably more to come. (Tuesday Nov 24 | post #1)

Well thank you Mr. Goode. I believe you are the only Packer Fan that I've seen to *ever* post that Brett did anything good for Green Bay. Those 16 years he played for them were completely cast aside in an instant when the team kicked him to the curb. I've said this from the very beginning and I'm glad to see that at least one Packer fan recognizes that it wasn't a Favre issue, but a Ted Thompson issue. (Tuesday Nov 24 | post #19)
