Sandy victims in the eye of a political storm

With all due respect to the storm victims, I have an honest question. I’m not being political about it, just want to know. Aren’t the houses and businesses destroyed in the storm insured? If not, why not? If not, why should the taxpayer be responsible? Why should everyone else pay the price of rebuilding someone’s nice beachfront home? I can’t afford a beach house, but I would think someone who can afford such a lifestyle would be prudent enough to carry the proper amount of insurance for living in a danger zone. Living by the ocean is like living with a time bomb. You have no way of ever knowing when disaster could strike; therefore you prepare for the possibility instead of risking yourself and your property and then expecting others to pay for you to recoup your losses. If there’s a legitimate reason these houses had no storm coverage, please pardon my ignorance.  (Jan 4, 2013 | post #2)

Halloween from Muslim's Perspective

Disrepecting YOUR religion? Well, just how do you think WE feel when you find fault with OUR traditions? I don't think anyone even asked for you opinion, but you jump right in and not only tell us we're disrespectful, you also threaten us. You know where you can stick Mohammed? He may be YOUR prophet, but take a hint here. He doesn't mean a rat's ass to the rest of us. YOU worship who YOU want, stop being so violently defensive about your religion, and show some respect yourself.  (Nov 1, 2012 | post #40)

Halloween from Muslim's Perspective

Can't we just lighten up for once? Muslims...seriousl y, Halloween is just for fun. That's all. It means absolutely nothing. In fact, it's the most fun tradition in America because it's one of the few "holidays " without some religious or political attachment. It's just fun. Is fun something that doesn't happen in your culture?  (Nov 1, 2012 | post #39)

Romney moves to reframe debate on abortion, autos

Who gives a flying f*ck about abortion anymore? That has been conservatives nasty little parasite for decades. When all else fails whine about abortion and point the finger of guilt at women. Take your morality and shove it. I'm sick to death of Nazi conservatives telling me what I can and cannot do with my own body. You sure as hell don't mind spending trillions of dollars on war, blowing up other countries, killing little Iraqi children and little Afghani children, then like the hypocrits you are, you boo-hoo over abortion. If you gave even half a rat's ass about LIFE you'd be demanding ALL wars stop... even if it means you wouldn't be making a profit from it anymore.  (Nov 1, 2012 | post #38)

Romney moves to reframe debate on abortion, autos

This is what I don't like about Romney. He changes his position too much. He seems to have no real convictions. He will say and do whatever he needs to benefit himself. That tells me he doesn't think of anyone else BUT himself.  (Oct 31, 2012 | post #11)

Record High Enrollment for Food Stamps: 46,681,833 Million

Here's something I'll bet few of you have heard: JP Morgan is the largest processor of food stamp benefits in the United States. JP Morgan has contracted to provide food stamp debit cards in 26 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. JP Morgan is paid for each case that it handles, so that means that the more Americans that go on food stamps, the more profits JP Morgan makes. Yes, you read that correctly. When the number of Americans on food stamps goes up, JP Morgan makes more money. In the video posted below, JP Morgan executive Christopher Paton admits that this is "a very important business to JP Morgan" and that it is doing very well. Considering the fact that the number of Americans on food stamps has exploded from 26 million in 2007 to 43 million today, one can only imagine how much JP Morgan's profits in this area have soared. But doesn't this give JP Morgan an incentive to keep the number of Americans enrolled in the food stamp program as high as possible?  (Oct 30, 2012 | post #72)

Fed Signals Jobless Rate Drop Won’t Deter Bond Purchases

"New homes are being built at the fastest pace since 2008..." Who is buying these homes? A good portion of the country is unemployed or underemployed. Another part has credit shot full of holes from the last economic collapse and couldn't get a loan for a candy bar. Another part is up to their eyeballs in debt - credit cards, car loans, and education loans, and millions of homes across the country are in foreclosure or worth upwards of 40% less than they were 5 years ago. So who is buying these new homes? My guess is - rich foreign investors. Eventually we will be owned lock, stock and barrel by some other country.  (Oct 26, 2012 | post #9)

Obama's and Romney’s Tax Plans: What Do They Mean for Sta...

Let's ask ourselves how we got into this mess in the first place? Didn't just happen yesterday. Or four years ago. It's been building up for a long time and greed, nothing but, collapsed our economy in 2008. So where are we now? Maybe we're back to reality. The economic boom you saw going on during the Bush era was unsustainable. It couldn't keep going. We racked up massive debt from wars we should have never started. THAT was the beginning of our end. NO president can "create" jobs. Not unless they offer businesses a tax-free haven to set up shop in the United States. Which might be worth the risk. I don't know. I do know that millions of jobs are gone from U.S. and aren't coming back - ever. NOBODY wants to step up to the plate and pay for the mess all these politicians (yes, ALL of them) have put us in. THEY brought us here, how about we demand that THEY pay for their screw-ups. How irresponsible of them to spend OUR money, yet demand we pay more when they run out? And stupid Americans....we smile and run to the polls and tell ourselves it'll be better if OUR team wins. There isn't a dumber country on earth. The majority (yes, the majority) of us get by day to day. The average American household income is $50,000 a year. Romney sells campaign fundraiser dinners for more than that. Yet, we Americans look at our politicians the way children look at their presents on Christmas morning. All wide-eyed and fascinated. And the only time we complain is when we want to hate the opposite side. Not once do we come together and say "these idiots are all alike and they are screwing the daylights out of us." No, we just bend over and hope that we'll enjoy it with someone new. It's not my country I dislike. It's the people, the citizens and their lack of critical thinking and laziness.  (Oct 26, 2012 | post #9)

Obama's and Romney’s Tax Plans: What Do They Mean for Sta...

WASHINGTON -- On Tuesday, officials from Bain Capital-owned Sensata Technologies threatened to shut down its north-central Illinois plant "immediately and indefinitely" if those protesting the offshoring of the facility's jobs entered the plant in an act of civil disobedience again, according to local city officials. The plant in Freeport, Ill., which is already scheduled to close at the end of the year, has become an embarrassing campaign issue for GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney. The factory's 170 jobs are being relocated to China. Activists and workers have called on Romney to use his influence with Bain to halt the offshoring.  (Oct 26, 2012 | post #8)

Judge OKs release of Romney divorce case testimony

Wow, if you carry on like this about 4 dead Americans, you must have been a basket case after 9/11. Remember, that day when THREE THOUSAND Americans died right here in our country because our president was busy looking the other way? We don't need another money-for-nothing Republican in the White House protecting his peeps (as he did in with Stemberg). And if it's found out that Romney is a big, fat liar it will come as no surprise to anyone.  (Oct 25, 2012 | post #2)

Mourdock: Pregnancy a 'gift from God' even in cases of rape

I can't stand the lunatic rightwing trying to turn this country into a police state. It scares me when they get close enough to start controlling my body. Libertarian? Sorry, too closely related to Republicans, which are too closely related to the insanity of the right. I thought you folks were all about LESS government. From what I see the right (and their supporters) are all about controlling the government AND the people.  (Oct 25, 2012 | post #34)
