Home sales up; still slow

This town is too strict with building and parking codes already. A moving company can make a killing in a couple of years as locals move out to Greener pastures.  (Jul 27, 2010 | post #4)

Is Sen. John Kerry's Ship Sinking?

Sadly Kerry will survive this, if Kennedy can kill a woman and keep getting elected, and this is small in comparision, it will be over when the next scandal takes place and DiMasi goes on trial soon.  (Jul 27, 2010 | post #8)

Community brings Du Bois mural to life

Well it just so happens if you should wander in front of the Mason Library you will find a plaque that honors Laura Secord, although she was born in Great Barrington, her claim to fame is assisting the British during the War Of 1812. So Great Barrington does honor people who fought against the US.  (Jul 26, 2010 | post #7)

Whom Do You Trust, the Politician or the Detective?

This is really about an obsolete state position and the high pay and perks that come with it. Like the three high paying Register of Deeds in Berkshire County, this job should be eliminated, especially in a bad economy. County government is gone and not missed, the prison system in MA should be run as one agency or department.  (Jul 25, 2010 | post #3)

Mass. Sen. Kerry docks yacht in RI, saving $500K

During the holidays MSP hang around the NH border and pull people over, and if they discover a large purchase like a tv, it can be reported for tax reasons. There have been several lawsuits about this type of taxation between the two states. At no time did Kerry ever defend people trying to save money on large appliances coming from NH.  (Jul 25, 2010 | post #57)

Are Higher Taxes Good for Economy

In the US taxes are seldom really lowered, since when the federal government makes cuts in services, states pick up an extra cost, then in MA right now for example the state has made cuts and cities and town have increased taxes and even in many cases added a meal and lodging tax increase. I am no ecomomist, but can see what the US and a lot of the free world is doing is not working. When FDR began Social Security the average person died at 62, but people could not collect until 65, today the state allows people to retire at 55 and people live until around 80. There are ways to cut taxes, and help and at the same time we have to stop helping companies move out of the US and avoid taxes and get cheap labor. Billions of dollars are spent in this country on experts at every field, including the economy, there is no reason why a solution that makes sense and helps everyone can not be found and used.  (Jul 23, 2010 | post #13)

Customer must pay for costly cable

Is this a new home? If so why wasn't cable placed to telephone poll or electrical main during construction?  (Jul 23, 2010 | post #22)

Mass. Sen. Kerry docks yacht in RI, saving $500K

He claims it is docked there for repairs. The picture in the Boston Herald shows a fine looking yacht and ready to sail. Not only is he a cheapskate, but a liar.  (Jul 23, 2010 | post #8)

No country, nation or empire in written history have taxed themselves into prosperity.  (Jul 22, 2010 | post #11)

Greylock chooses new CEO

The real question is what is happening at the Court House? It appears GCU has moved on and in the right direction, but there is still a black cloud over the probation office in berkshire County.  (Jul 22, 2010 | post #1)

Troublesome repair law

Auto dealerships are quicky becoming extinct in Berkshire County and harder to find throughout MA. Dealerships have a higher turnover rate as far as mechanics are concerned, than smaller locally run garges, for example I got my sticker today from Pete in Sheffield and he has been in business for 38 years, and his competitor down the street even longer. These men are well respected and and give better service at a more reasonable price than dealerships, and there is always a well experienced mechanic around these smaller garages. The law should be passed.  (Jul 20, 2010 | post #4)
