This is not Avatar as in the anime, you are thinking of the upcoming "Last Airbender" movie. These people are idiots. These are the LGBTI version of the extremist fundie idiots, and and it only takes a few idiot nutjobs to ruin it for everyone else. As a trans-individual I actually see it as far more supportive of Trans people simply because it shows a future where one can be transfered into a new body. I know I sure would love that, and can assure you that regardless of the hetero characters in this movie, there are trannies using that tech elsewhere in this future society to give themselves new bodies. It is just as ignorant to assume that an alien species would be gay or bi as it is to assume they would be straight. The aliens are designed to explore the desired narrative of the story, not to enforce a preferred sexual orientation. It is space opera. I agree You need look no further than the bible itself to realize how little the majority of Christians understand it. They spout scripture condemning us, yet the same passages usually are the ones condemning them for their diet and clothing choices and the freedom and merit they give their wive's words. One person is not the majority, it is anecdote. Accepting me would no sooner make me want to be Christian either. I am an Atheist because of the time I have spent studying the worlds faiths in depth, not because I have been rejected. The churches here in Canada tend to be allot more accepting and less alienating. However I can say I have definately appreciated the good feelings and and positive expression of ones faith which has been presented to me. It made me actually take a serious look at the church and whether it is a place for me, whereas many LGBTI friends I have living in the USA have felt only alienated and reject the church with pure hatred and ignorance. If you want to lead someone to Christ (or whatever faith you have), the best way is to prove that Christ is something they would want to consider, not something that wishes them ill will. If homosexuality is at all curable through acceptance of Christ, then Christians need to accept Homosexuals and embrace their needs and desires. Show that Christ truly is above them and within them and not express pure coldness to them. Christ is love, love is warm, sin is cold. If you react to sin with coldness then you are reacting to sin with sin. Christ said the only way to God is through him. This means through his actions, not through your own bigotry and fears. The only way to truly change someone is to be someone they would want to become, be an example. Cutting off homosexuals or other sinners is cutting them off from the positive example your life should be and is selfish.  (Yesterday | post #88)

Heated argument?? O_o ***Moscone initially agreed to White's request, but later refused the reappointment at the urging of Milk and others. On November 27, 1978, White went to San Francisco City Hall to meet with the mayor and make a final plea to get his job back. He arrived that day by climbing through a first-floor window on the side of City Hall carrying a loaded gun and 10 rounds of ammunition. By entering the building through the window, White was able to circumvent the recently installed metal detectors. After entering Moscone's office, White pleaded to be reinstated as supervisor, but Moscone turned down his request. White then shot and killed Moscone with four bullets. He then reloaded his weapon and walked over to Milk's office, fatally shooting him five times; the final shot was determined by the coroner to have shot at very close range. White then fled City Hall, turning himself in at the San Francisco's Northern Police Station where he had been a police officer. While being interviewed by investigators, White recorded a tearful confession, stating, "I just shot him."*** He broke into city hall armed with a pistol, when he didn't get what he wanted he killed the mayor. He was found guilty of two counts of manslaughter, after what is generally conscidered the worst and most blatent defense in the history of American court; The Twinkie defense. The claim that he was so messed up because of all the junk food he had eaten that he shouldn't be accountable for his crimes. What it was was a giant exclamation point on why we need Hate Crime laws. A Fag and a Fag friendly person were cold bloodedly murdered, it is a news worthy case so we cannot just be lenient. Instead the stupidest defense ever used was used. It is so accepted as an unacceptable defense that it itself has become the name of any rediculous defense. Common sense also used to tell normal folk that women who spoke up for themselves were witches and that children with birth defects were cursed by witches or the devil and this was used as an excuse to put to death allot of people. Common sense is very common and rarely sense. I really get a kick out of people thinking they know better than the medical and psychiatric community.
