Can Atheists talk about anything other than "God"?

Well, god(s) may not be real, but religions and believers most certainly are, and their influences in and on the world are certainly there, in our faces, whether we like it or not... That certainly leaves quit a bit to discuss on related matters. (Nov 30, 2010 | post #126)

Time is only a measurement of the rate of change. Gravity, it appears, may affect this rate. Time is the ruler by which we determine this. (Oct 8, 2010 | post #11483)

Time is a man made fabrication.. a measure of change.. a measuring stick. It is not a thing; just an idea. It's not real. So I suppose you're right; they are the same. They're both not real figments of mans imagination used as tools to help people understand things. Except the god doesn't really help us understand anything.. (Oct 7, 2010 | post #11179)

Gravity, biology, nuclear physics, etc.. It's not just one thing. It's a whole host of physics that extends far beyond your grossly over-simplistic alternative. You're far too simple minded to understand, so just give up and go kiss a Jesus statues feet or something. Okay genius, let's play your game. Let's say "god did it"... Now tell us how. Good for the goose; good for the gander... You need to tell us how. By what forces does the god work. Be real. Use physics. Explain it so we can put it under a microscope and test it... Let's go already... (Oct 7, 2010 | post #11175)

You're the one that can't find the sense to reason a basis of morality aside from the "god said so". You're the one that's morally bankrupt. You're the one that has nothing of your own to offer. You're the one that has no thoughts of your own aside from what you've been told to believe. You're the one that's forgone the logic to question the reasons for things, to ensure the quality of them for yourself. You're the one that passes on the personal responsibility for your own morality to a collection of books written hundreds and thousands of years ago. You have no standing. You're the one that can't explain where your own currency comes from, from a logical standpoint, or why anyone else should use your currency as a medium of exchange. You're the one that doesn't apply your own standards evenly. You're the one that discards your own morals and gives your mythical figures and religious leaders a pass for their transgressions whenever they run astray. You're the one that casts a shadow of "evil" and "sin" on innocent people that you neither know nor know anything about. You're the one that casts decent human beings aside as "evil" "sinners " just because they don't buy into your twisted "morals" . You're the one that can't accept that a person can be not only a decent person, but even a better person, without the divisive burden of casting sins on people you don't even know. You're a horrible person. You have no rupt to bank on. (Oct 6, 2010 | post #10698)

I don't care. Existence doesn't depend on my believing in it, or caring to know how it came to be. It is that it is, and that's good enough. (Oct 6, 2010 | post #10695)

What is the point of agnosticism?

It's a blunt instrument which functions as a shield with which one can parry and dodge attacks. As such, it has no actual point, and is in fact rather point-less. (Sep 29, 2010 | post #29)

Did God create the cloud/rain?

I've long since concluded it's either some kind of zen christardism (koan) where we're supposed to ponder the "great wisdom" found in the question (notice how almost every post contains an odd declarative statement ending in "huh!"), or... he's faking it. (Based a few of his more coherent posts I've begun to think he's actually an atheist and he's just playing the fool.) http://en.wikipedi a.org/wiki/Koan "A kōan is a fundamental part of the history and lore of Zen Buddhism. It consists of a story, dialogue, question, or statement, the meaning of which cannot be understood by rational thinking but may be accessible through intuition." "The purpose of kōans for a Zen practitioner is to become aware of the difference between himself, his mind, and his beliefs, which influence how he sees the world; and, ultimately, to help him realize his true nature. Once a Zen practitioner becomes aware of his mind as an independent form, the kōan makes sense and the teaching point is realized." (Sep 29, 2010 | post #15)
