Panthers take two

It is nice to see positive things that youth in our community are doing. It shows that there are some respectiful and positive actions taken by some of the youth. Keep up the good work!  (Apr 2, 2007 | post #1)

teen drinking law-comments anyone

I think the punishment for repeat offenders is needed but unfortunately, something has to happen for them to get noticed and "be watched".  (Apr 2, 2007 | post #4)

The Crosses!!!!

I don't want to sound nasty, I don't personally have an issue with side of the road memorials as long as they are safe, BUT these kids do and get anywhere they want anyhow. I am sure if they ask a PARENT to take them to the cemetary, it would happen.  (Apr 2, 2007 | post #19)

Teen-drinking penalties urged in wake of crash

I plan for funerals. I have life insurance policies that I pay for monthly that cover myself, spouse, and both my children. It costs less then 50.00 a month to ensure that I have the funds there should something horrible happen and one of us needs to be buried.  (Apr 2, 2007 | post #3)

kids need to learn respect

Actually, when this blog was started it was about respect not the accident.  (Mar 27, 2007 | post #38)

Fifth family files suit over Oswego crash

I agree with you. She should not have..she should have been smarter..but so should these kids. I am not placing blame on anyone other then to say all involved should have made wiser decisions but they did not and this was the end result. I think your trying to state something along the lines that people can express themselves but need to do so in a manner that is not disrespectful to the ALL families involved. If this is correct, then I agree with that too but let's face it, all involved probably could have made a lot of decisions that may have been better then those made. She did not set out to kill 5 children and 5 children did not set out to die that night. This is truly a horrible accident. Every single one of them had a future ahead of them.  (Mar 27, 2007 | post #47)

Police blotter shows lessons go unlearned

I do understand your frustrations. Unfortunately, I do not agree with them. You are correct, this community and a lot of others have issues but as a community they need to be solved. Nothing gets resolved by one person. A lot of blogs/forums on here are for people to vent their frustrations and concerns when no one else would listen. What if one parent learns on to help their own child from these blogs? And these blogs just are for issues relating to the crash, it is for all news happening in Oswego or what ever zip code you type in. Also, it is MY business if people are drinking and driving because I drive my family on these local roads. ANYONE drinking and driving on these roads puts MY family in danger not to mention everyone else around them. As a community, it is our responsibility to help the future of our community stay on the right track. Anyone that thinks HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS are a waste of time needs to be knocked around a bit. Teenagers are very important people. All youth are. So I am sorry if you do not like the fact that people are speaking of how to help our future along  (Mar 24, 2007 | post #84)

Drinking and driving

I think these are wonderful ideas but what I think would be more effective is the morgue visit! Oh my..that would be something wouldn't it. Perhaps even a visit to a local jail or prison? I am sorry for what your brother in law and his children went through. No one deserves to go through that, no one. Unfortunately, 5 kids dead was not enough of a reality shock for a lot of these kids.  (Mar 24, 2007 | post #5)

Fifth family files suit over Oswego crash

Ma'am, it is very nice to see someone stick up for your renters. I happen to be good friends with your renters and know them well. I am glad to see that you are an adult with commonsense and fairness to wait until OPD and Kendall County finds to be the truth before acting. It is nice to know that innocent until proven guilty still exists in our country! God Bless  (Mar 22, 2007 | post #37)

4 Teens Killed In Car Crash In Oswego

Perhaps phone calls should be placed to the school district and ask them this question! I agree whole heartedly. ZERO TOLERANCE! The parents themselves should have the damn sense to remove them from extra circular activites for their illegal behavior  (Mar 22, 2007 | post #466)

Fifth family files suit over Oswego crash

I know the pain is deep and the anger is high. It is warrented, I trust in that but we don't have all the facts on what happened that night. And unfortunately, we may never know. Between Sandra and the 3 living teenagers, it may take years to untangle their own thoughts and what they remember from that night. Every single one of them made mistakes that night. Sandra for giving them a ride and the teenagers for not calling a parent. All are paying or have paid a high price. We need to form together and try to prevent another human being from making a mistake such as this. We need to form together and help all families involved. Pray, raise money, and offer condolences. The events of that can not be replayed, we can only learn from them. My heart goes out to every single one of these families. The pain is more then I know and I pray for you all nightly. God Bless.  (Mar 19, 2007 | post #18)
