100 reasons why climate change is not man made

Oh, here is the link to the Frank Luntz report (in PDF format) to Republicans on how to derail health care reform: http://wonkroom.th inkprogress.org/wp -content/uploads/2 009/05/frank-luntz -the-language-of-h ealthcare-20091.pd f Yea, they're looking out for the American people!  (Thursday Dec 17 | post #49)

100 reasons why climate change is not man made

Here Buddy, see how your doubt was manufactured by vested interests and your little god down in Crawford, Texas. Oh, by the way, Luntz is the same guy hired by the Republicans to orchestrate the spin on health care. http://www.guardia n.co.uk/environmen t/2003/mar/04/usne ws.climatechange http://en.wikipedi a.org/wiki/Frank_L untz I highly recommend the Frontline multi-part series called "The Persuaders." It explains how people like Luntz and others manipulate people. http://www.pbs.org /wgbh/pages/frontl ine/shows/persuade rs/themes/magic.ht ml  (Thursday Dec 17 | post #48)

At times the Mississippi River backs up into the Red....the same way the Red backs up into the Kiamichi and other tributaries when it is at flood stage. I am sure a lot of that water is released down the Atchafalaya at such times. You still haven't explained what happens to that 70% of the water flowing down the Red at NORMAL stage. You DO know the difference between up and down, don't you? What you are trying to do is take an exceptional condition and make it sound like it is a normal occurrrance.  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #186)

Bill Maher religion bashing movie

And they tried to derail the visit to the park. Interesting. If these people have the one and only "truth" and God is on their side, why would they be afraid of Bill Maher or anyone else asking questions?  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #25)

Yea, it was a funny movie that asked great questions and pointed out glaring hypocrisy. Two-thumbs up!  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #24)

OK, the Red River doesn't flow into the Mississippi River....that'll be your little secret to hide from the rest of the world. If the Atchafalaya drains 30% or the Red River what happens to the other 70%? (See answer below) Hey, when water moves it "flows." That's just common sense, Pops....  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #179)

The Red originally flowed down the Atchafalaya, but natural and manmade actions over the years now cause most of it to flow into the Mississippi. One of the diversions was caused by a chain built across the Atchafalaya by the Spanish during the 1700s, as I recall. Of course, the chain caught trees and drift forming a dam. If I also recall correctly, water flowing into the Atchafalaya is now controlled by dams....with the main purpose of assuring enough water flows down the Red to the Mississippi to support river commerce. At present, the Red is considered navigatable (commercially) by the Corps of Engineers as far upstream as Shreveport. Most barge traffic comes from New Orleans via the Mississippi River. As far as I know, the Atchafalaya has no ports and no commercially navigatable outlet to the Gulf. The swamps near Shreveport are exclusive of the navigatable main channel of the river. These overflows were MUCH larger before Henry Shreve cleared the "Great Raft" during the 1830s and opened the Upper Red to steamboat commerce. Well, at least Christopher Columbus (a.k.a. Buddy) apparently now knows the Red flows through Shreveport. Jezzz Louise....I thought everyone around here knew that simple geographic fact. Hell, one has to be on the Red River if one visits the casinos in Shreveport or Bossier City. I so enjoy the ramblings of half-assed local history "experts. " As we see from another "expert" on here, historical fact about disease in the area relys on what her grandparents CAN'T remember or DIDN'T tell her. Using typical "flawless " neo-conservative logic, it therefore never happened. Fortunately, some did remember....and their stories are preserved in the archives at LSU-Shreveport.  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #178)

Pray, tell us, Buddy.....where do you think the Red River Valley is? Silly me, I always though a river valley ran along on either side of a river along its length.  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #175)

So, what you are saying is there are no such records at LSU-Shreveport, though that is far from clear in your post. You don't really deny it, you simply attempt a diversion away from my statement. Typical....  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #174)

Get out a map, Buddy. Follow the blue line that says "Red River." Does it go through Shreveport? Ya think maybe steamboat owners and captains lived there? Maybe? Huh? Ya think? Ya think, maybe, because there was a state university in Shreveport, they might have left their records there? Ya think? Huh? No, Buddy, the Red River Valley doesn't stop at the Lamar County line. It goes hundreds of miles ALL the way to the Mississippi River. You're an idiot.  (Tuesday Dec 15 | post #167)

Never heard of yellow fever on the Upper Red River? Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Neo-conservatives are noted for only knowing the history they WANT to know. Grandparents? get out the calculator, Einstein.  (Tuesday Dec 15 | post #166)

Entirely possible you were not descended from sharecroppers....Please note, moron, I said STATISTICALLY. Do you know what that means? Most of NE Texas is agricultural. In 1930 61% were tenant farmers.  (Tuesday Dec 15 | post #165)
