Buddhist statue is too big, Troyer says

The Praying Hands statue is 3 ft. taller than the one planned at the Buddhist Temple. Quote from article: "Troyer is a Christian who objects to an oversized statue of a pagan deity. He doesnÂ’t object to religious artwork but only on a reasonable level." Sounds like just another christian ploy to infringe on the rights of non-christians. I plan on attending this meeting, but not to support Troyer's "mission ". I'm not a Buddhist, but I intend to support their rights.  (Mar 19, 2009 | post #2)

Fatal Prison Fight

http://www.tulsawo rld.com/news/artic le.aspx?subjectid= 11&articleid=2 0090319_11_0_Jsiae a677246 This story is perplexing. Why, in the world, would prison officials put these 2 men in the same cell? One testified against the other during a murder trial. Then they are placed in the same cell and the one who testified is murdered within 15 minutes of placing the two together. Has anyone else heard about this story?  (Mar 19, 2009 | post #1)

Tulsa Murderer Has A Date With Executioner

Although I support the execution of Brown, you make valid points. But, more than positive influence will be needed if we are going to keep our youth on the "right path". Good education and decent paying jobs will be required. And, the positive influence of which you speak would have to start at a much younger age than when a youth hits his/her teens. Maybe I am a pessimist but I just don't see that happening any time in the near future. There ARE people out there trying to make a difference, but there are just not enough and there never will be. Not enough teachers who really care, not enough "social workers" who really care, and ABOVE ALL there are just not enough PARENTS who really care. It takes a lot of work, a lot of sacrifice, and a lot of selfless love to be an effective parent...and there are just so many parents that just can't/won't take the responsibility to love, teach, guide, and help their own children.  (Jan 23, 2009 | post #78)

Police: Tulsa Child Shot In The Face

You are quite right that ex-cons are not allowed to be around guns. Your original question, however, was something to the effect of wanting to know why the father was in prison...not that he was an ex-con with loaded gun in the house. Regardless of why the man was in prison, the fact remains that these parents will not only have to cope with the fact that they are responsible for the death of their child, but they will probably have to face charges in the child's death, as well.  (Jan 22, 2009 | post #210)

Tulsa Shooting Victim Dies

The bottom line is this: There was a loaded gun, in the house, within reach of a child. The parents will have to deal with the fact that their actions (or lack of them) contributed to the death of their child. That will be a bitter pill to swallow.  (Jan 22, 2009 | post #15)

Perhaps that is irrelevant. The bottom line is this: There was a loaded gun, in the house, within reach of a child. Police: Tulsa Child Shot In The Face

What a tragic story. It would appear that everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. First, the gun should never have been in the house because the father is not supposed to be around guns. Second, the gun was obviously kept loaded. Third, the gun was obviously kept in a place where a child could get it. Has anyone heard an update on the child's condition?  (Jan 22, 2009 | post #85)

Tulsa Group Offers Prayers For New President

After watching all the televised reports regarding Obama, I've come to the conclusion that Obama is very human. I noticed that when he was dancing with his wife, they were like any other couple in love. They were NOT a President and First Lady dancing. They were not putting on a show. They were not stiff and formal. I think Obama will bring about positive change. I have to admit that I am impressed with him.  (Jan 22, 2009 | post #11)
