Truck hits boys getting off bus

This should be considered more than a "tragedy ". This man should be punished. Hwy 57 in that area is VERY congested daily from three to about six p.m. That is no excuse to break the law. IT IS THE LAW TO STOP WHEN A SCHOOL BUS HAS IT'S STOP SIGN DEPLOYED. This man intentionally with no regard for the safety of ANYONE ran that stop sign and very well could have KILLED two children. Let me guess... he was in a hurry? Well I think that being in a hurry is no excuse for anything. If a doctor leaves a metal clamp in a patient during surgery because "he was in a hurry" that doctor is punished. If a person rear-ends another car because "he was in a hurry" he is punished. Get the point? That driver did not accidently pass that bus. He intended to pass the bus. Therefore he should get a stiffer punishment than if it happened to be some sort of accident. Do you think that same man would cross through a rail road crossing when a train is 3 feet from his truck if he was in a hurry? HELL NO! This man put his impatience ahead of the safety of two children - ON PURPOSE! You have to take a test to get a license and on that test it tells you more than you'll ever need to know about school crossings, school busses, and school zones. EVERYONE knows to stop - he cannot use that excuse either!  (May 4, 2008 | post #1)

Police charge coast woman with dumping hot cooking oil on...

Any updates? I think that if her husband had her fearing for her life she was justified in trying to save herself... perhaps she is and has been mentally ill and has gone undiagnosed? More information if anyone has it please.  (May 4, 2008 | post #244)

Legislators don't expect Medicaid fix

It is very hard to find health-care providers who are specialists to accept Medicaid. It needs to be addressed. There are tons of people who need to see specialists but just cannot afford it AND have Medicaid... but cannot find a provider.  (May 4, 2008 | post #1)

OS man charged with sexual assault of 10-year-old

Are there any curent updates on this matter? If he did it - he should be castrated without ANY pain medication. Only enough meds to keep him alive to suffer forever.  (May 4, 2008 | post #2)

14 from prison indicted in Katrina fraud

Gee I am sick of my tax money paying for prisoners to break the law WHILE IN CUSTODY. Somebody is apparently NOT doing their job! The criminals are - they're criminals for goodness sakes they were doing what they do!  (May 4, 2008 | post #1)

rowdy frynds fight?

There was a fight of some kind on the second floor seating area left of the stage at the Rowdy Frynds Tour concert Saturday night. I was there but on the ground level and couldn't see much. I was trying to watch Hank... WHAT HAPPENED up there? Someone fill me in because I was there but didn't want to miss Hank. From what I could tell there were several men and women involved. I even saw a woman jump on the back of a security guard. It was crazy but I want to know what really happened up there please!  (May 4, 2008 | post #1)

Ocean Springs Lumber

Ocean Springs Lumber has changed. The staff used to be courteious and helpful. They are not anymore. I don't know WHY things have gone down-hill but they have. I live within walking distance of OS Lumber and even with gas prices rising hourly (seems like) I will drive to another store. Please keep in mind I was a LOYAL customer until recently. They are way over-priced and half of the people working there do not know a doorknob from a screw. This has been since Katrina. That's around the time they began to go down. I think perhaps they stopped caring about who they hired when they had so much business... well, I hope that whomever works there DOES read this: I'm telling you guys the truth - from a customer stand-point you need to step up to a level that is a least two or three steps above where you are now.  (May 4, 2008 | post #31)

FEMA wants its money back

Those of us who were truly harmed by Katrina NEED that money. Most of us needed MORE money. The scum-bags who falsified their information should be charged with crimes AND be forced to pay back with penalties. I know of an apartment complex in Alabama with zero damage whose residents received assistance just because of the area they resided in. FEMA should have been more careful. It's THEIR fault for giving the con-artists the money. NOT OURS!  (May 4, 2008 | post #254)

gc school system

I went to the george county school system until 11th grade. At that point, my family moved to Ocean Springs due to a dying relative. I learned more at Ocean Springs High School than I learned the entire time I went to George County. At Ocean Springs, there are so MANY extra programs to help ALL students. There are actual REASONS for placing a student in a special education class. In George County a parent can request that his/her child be placed in the disabled class and it's done. I know this to be true because I saw it first-hand. Just because a child isn't made to do his/her homework at home DOES NOT qualify him/her for special education. It does, however; reflect very poorly on the parents. I was not taught how to multiply nor read a clock that was not digital until I taught myself as an adult. That is unacceptable. My children will NEVER step foot into a George County school. My third grade teacher marked a word wrong on my spelling test when SHE was the one spelling it wrong. The word was plymouth. The majority of the teachers in GC are from GC schools and they keep the tradition going. Something has to be done in that county or they will continue to produce a crop of idiots at each graduation. It's sad. There is a school board in George County but as long as they nod or shake their head they've done their job - WRONG!!! George County needs to catch up with the rest of us. Ocean Springs schools should be a model for other schools in our state. They are strict, but they know how to teach and know the material themselves as well.  (May 4, 2008 | post #1)
