I would put the whole geocities letter bit to bed if I were you people. It sounds like someone that has cut and paste known theories that have been thrown around about Maura into one long narrative. But more to the point on whether or not James is using that geocities letter to help push his theory that Maura went to Canada: I sure would hope he isn't doing that. Because he has vehemently come out against the whole vasi hit and run angle and other things mentioned in that letter such as Maura taking off for a break during her work shift. So if he is really selectively choosing bits and pieces out of that post to push one theory than that is kind of dishonest isn't it. If this person is dead wrong about Maura being involved in a hit and run, then why would any other part of their post hold any credibility? I am not picking on James, I just hope he isn't using this thing after he made a whole big point about how ridiculous the notion that Maura was involved in a hit and run was, even going as far as re-interviewing Maura's supervisor just to get her to go along with him and say that it would be impossible for Maura to have been able to leave her shift during work..  (Dec 30, 2013 | post #43333)

For the love of pickles and crackers. (And this is not directed at anyone specifically) Can we stop one day claiming to be fact that a phone call is what upset Maura that Thursday night while she was at work. It is not a fact by any means. It is speculation, big difference. Maura being upset is a fact that night, nothing else. Thanks, that is all.  (Jul 11, 2013 | post #38826)

I have no issues with James. He is a successful fictional writer that even has a movie coming out about one his books with Bradley Cooper as the main character. I can't compete with that. When it comes to this case, we were two like-minded people early on that wanted to contribute and we just went in different directions. I have never wanted to write a book or makeup a blog. I just wanted answers and new leads to further this case along.  (Jun 30, 2013 | post #38333)

Or you can go to crimewire and download the link of the radio interview with someone (An investigator) that was actually involved in the (dog) searches for Maura and they confirm that the search dogs were not going to be very valuable for actually tracking Maura. They did conclude that Maura headed east from her car because the dog did pick up a scent from her car eastwardly. the point the dog lost the scent is precisely the same location the searches thought the dog would lose the scent to begin with. It was not some big revelation to the searchers that the dog abruptly lost the scent. Fred's and family's account kind of twists this info to support an abduction theory. This is all old news.  (Jun 30, 2013 | post #38326)

Correct me if I am wrong, but Renner's book that you keep eluding too is not going to be about what happened to Maura like many seem to think. The book is about "his process" on learning about Maura Murray and not about the end result. The people that keep eluding to the fact that he has all this hidden info that he is just waiting to drop bombshell style in his book, are going to be in for a rather disappointing conclusion IMO. that is not meant as anything negative to James, he has stated this himself on his blog before.  (Jun 30, 2013 | post #38325)

to all the folks fixated on Maura's "CC scandal" If she was in such a pickle and in such trouble with UMASS over this issue ... then why was she allowed to be a dorm monitor the semester after the CC incident? I would think that the last person I would want handling any of my ID's would be someone involved in stealing peoples personal information.  (Jun 29, 2013 | post #38303)

Here you go SnowyB ... Hope this helps you sleep better. Here is the whole article word for word (Not really sure how this changes anything) but here you go. Part 1 "It's a parent's nightmare come true for a South Shore father. NewsCenter 5's Liz Brunner reported that Fred Murray's daughter, Maura, has been missing since February. The college student disappeared after making a car trip to rural New Hampshire. Murray said the police are now treating the case as if it's cold, so he's taken it upon himself to keep hope alive. Every other weekend for nine months Fred Murray has made the trip from Connecticut to a New Hampshire motel that has become the home base in his search for his missing daughter. "No one else is looking and the case would just die and be forgotten. I've got to do it. I owe it to my daughter," said Murray. Maura Murray, 22, an athlete and honors student at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, was last seen the evening of Feb. 9, 2004, after her car crashed in Haverhill, N.H. Neighbors called the police. One offered the young woman help, but she refused. Within minutes she vanished. "The people who called in to the police said my daughter was sitting one to two minutes before the cops came, which means all the police had to do was go down the street and grab her," said Murray. Alcohol was found in the car. Murray said if his daughter was drinking, she probably panicked, afraid she'd get in trouble. "So she starts walking away," said Murray. Murray believes his daughter became a victim of foul play. "They know it was a young girl, they don't call ahead. They let her walk into the national forest. They let a young girl in 12-degree temperatures walk away," he said. With that, Fred Murray's anger grows. He accused police of waiting too long when they were just minutes away from finding his daughter. In their search for Maura Murray, New Hampshire State police say the immediate area was searched the night of the accident and neighbors were interviewed. But a ground and air search wasn't conducted until a day and a half later. Murray says that was too late. "They can't answer why they didn't drive two minutes down the road. It took 38 hours to start the investigation, " Murray said. No footprints were ever found in the woods. Search dogs tracked the woman's scent from the scene of the accident to the next corner. "Which is right in front of the last guy who spoke to my daughter, and also right in front of the house of the last person to have actually seen my daughter," said Murray."  (Jun 25, 2013 | post #38174)

He was staying at a fairly nice hotel (complete with kitchen etc..) And he was there for quite a while. This is a line from an old article done by Newscenter 5 wherever that is. "Every other weekend for nine months Fred Murray has made the trip from Connecticut to a New Hampshire motel that has become the home base in his search for his missing daughter. "No one else is looking and the case would just die and be forgotten. I've got to do it. I owe it to my daughter," said Murray."  (Jun 25, 2013 | post #38167)

Are you referring to Liquors 44 on Russell St? I think it is very possible and probably likely that maura would use an atm at the same location as the liquor store.  (Jun 24, 2013 | post #38149)

That would make sense. But how do you know it was a fleet atm?  (Jun 24, 2013 | post #38137)

No I don't have that info anymore. Right now bank of America lists seven atms in Amherst. Who's to say which ones were fleet Bank back in 2004 and which ones were Bank of America back then. My best guess would be that she used the atm at 1 Campus Center way in Amherst.  (Jun 24, 2013 | post #38134)

Whiston, I hear you. however, like others on here, I tend to believe (IMO) that once police sealed info off from both the public and family that they are forced to sticking to their guns (even if we are just talking about a harmless atm transaction video). If they go ahead and release that video of the atm transaction, then whats to say they shouldn't release other info that is not pertinent to interfering with their investigation and who gets to decide whether something is valuable info or just worthless info?  (Jun 24, 2013 | post #38133)
