Midnight, I agree. I haven't had any other predators believe it or not. I've had chickens for 4 years and never once had a problem until recently.  (May 7, 2014 | post #50)

RINTHEN having free pig roast

Businesses can't survive here when people go to Danville or Stanford to the Wal-Mart to buy their groceries. I don't think that's anyones fault but the dynamics of the town. Didn't Wal_mart want to come here before ending up in Stanford but the people didn't want that to happen? And, I'm asking because that's what I have been told. I've only lived in this town for 5 years but I knew when I moved here that I was going to have to travel to find work.  (May 7, 2014 | post #13)

Really spot? I hardly think I LIVE on this site and quite honestly I don't know why you are so hostile about my post unless you live on Conn's Lane and are letting your dogs run free or I've hit some other nerve. By the way, you're on this "Devil Site" commenting on my post so maybe you should take your own advice. And, I would much rather go play in my Henhouse as you say as I care much more about my chickens opinion of me than yours. lol. Unfortunately, I'm missing nine but the 4 left will have to do for now.  (May 2, 2014 | post #46)

Really? You don;t think there is an agenda for having a free pig roast open to everyone? Of course there is, it's for Politcal voter gain. But I'm not hating, thats the game.  (May 2, 2014 | post #7)

And FYI isn't far off. The Ky statute use to list Poultry and Foul seperate from the Livestock as a reason to kill an animal on your property in the act of attacking or harming them. They have removed that line. I can only imagine in response to some over zealous people shooting dogs not in the act or even on their property in recent news. I will still take my chances.  (Apr 29, 2014 | post #39)

Well I'm sorry but I would go ahead and face the charges. Some may not agree with me however, these "chickens " considered livestock or not are my PETS. I don't see how they would not be considered livestock since I raise them not only as my pets but for the eggs. If I caught a dog or any other animal for that matter in the act of attacking them (in my yard). I will shoot it. I'm tired of my "pets" dying because sorry owners won't keep their dogs in the yard or pay attention to what they are doing when outside. I will say that my warnings to the owners thus far have been heeded. Let's hope it stays that way.  (Apr 29, 2014 | post #38)

I would never shoot a dog just because it was on my property. But I will shoot one if it's in the process of attacking my chickens and I DO have a right to do that! Since I first posted this thread, We had another dog (from Conn's lane) come onto my property. Luckily, my neighbor alerted me via text and we went out immediatly gun in hand. Fortunate for the dog. He didn't get a chance to attack them and hid under the truck. He was obviously hungry and in no doubt searching for his chicken dinner. I actually felt bad for him because it was obvious why he was there. He was very sweet. We called animal control and had them remove the dog with instructions to inform the owner the next time it would be a body. I was told that the owner didn't like that too much. I don't really care if they liked that much. I have lost too many of my own "pets" due to this issue in the past few months. I don't think it's too much to ask to make sure your pet stays in your yard. Especially when it's destroying someone elses pets and or property.  (Apr 24, 2014 | post #24)

Like 12 Gauge said. You have the right to shot it. But only in the act I think but definitely has to be on your property  (Mar 31, 2014 | post #15)

Bob, Had I saw the 2nd attack there is no doubt I would have. Had my husband been able to retrieve the gun quick enough to stop it the first time where we witnessed the attack, I would have shot it then!  (Mar 25, 2014 | post #6)
