Underground caves

Sunday, June 19, 2016- We arrived nearly 30 minutes behind schedule, I lost the oil cap and we had to stop to get a new one. After transferring water and cinder blocks to the shed, I got geared up and it was right to work in Dragon Cave. 9 cubic feet of dirt and leaves were removed, four more feet of newly discovered passage was mapped and all the new passage is completely choked with leaves.&#65279 ;  (Sunday Jun 19 | post #188)

Cave Exploration

It was just myself and Angelo again. I removed a quarter of the clay mound and discovered continuing passage stuffed with leaves as well as dirt which is being forced back to the new area. Strange markings were found on the collapsed rock, probably natural. Found an interesting fossil, and the live end is blowing cold air indicating a larger chamber beyond the blockage.  (May 22, 2016 | post #25)

The first trip to the property for May was do work on the bathroom. A lot of wood was destroyed by termites and will be replaced with concrete. A new entrance was discovered forming near the shed, along the main path. A gasket has to be replaced on the generator before additional work can be done. The caving trip for me will take place on May 22, weather permitting.  (May 12, 2016 | post #186)

Underground caves

April 10, 2016- Another trip to Dragon Cave. Again no help came. I dug out the passage, just under the entrance, that connects to the newly discovered passages. I also discovered that what I thought was a wall in the Clay Room was actually a collapsed part of the ceiling. So part of the room is cut off by this large rock. Behind it is at least 10 more feet but it looks like it is all clay and roots, no visible rock to support it.  (Apr 11, 2016 | post #180)

We purchased a third parcel which was merged with the first, Dragon cave continues to yield more passage with each trip. Formations were discovered. We go on trips every month whether anyone shows up or not.  (Mar 21, 2016 | post #179)

March 11- Even though none of the three people who said they were coming out did not, I removed enough dirt to have discovered 24 feet of new passage and add it to the map of DRAGON CAVE.  (Mar 11, 2016 | post #177)

Underground caves

The February trip took place on Friday the 19th. Two hours was spent removing 24 cubic feet of dirt from the lower passage where I dumped it a month before. There is still another 12 cubic feet to remove but at least there is now space to dump more dirt from the new passage. I took new photos of the pyrite flakes, found a cluster of spiral, cone shaped shells and found two crystallized objects attached to the limestone, they look a little like a geode but the outer surface is not darkened rock, but crystal and the inside has a flow stone like material instead of the crystals that a geode would have.  (Feb 20, 2016 | post #176)
