School district disputes state's grading

When a buisness is not doing well, do you change the buisness? No, you change management so... If you aren’t performing well under the current measuring system don’t change the measuring system, change the school system.  (Jan 11, 2012 | post #4)

NM test results 'not acceptable'

I've said this once too many times, there is "ME" mentality and a lazy mentality that the majority of kids do not want to do the work necessary to be successful. A generation of parents that coddled their kids. Public schools now have to teach morals and ethics. Those need to be taught at home. I understand that now a days there are many single parents. Like in an earlier post, community/parent involement is a first. The No Child Left Behind Act does need to be changed. No doubt, but the attitude of the student also needs to be fixed. And that starts in the home. Just an opinion, not a fact.  (Jul 31, 2011 | post #12)

Flores finishes 2nd at FCCLA nationals

Very poor choice of words used, "bail out." How difficult would it had been to say: Due to personal matters Deming's FCCLA advisor was unable to accompany them to nationals but made arrangments with Cobre High FCCLA advisor to chaperone them, as they were heading to the same competition.  (Jul 25, 2011 | post #3)

County government afraid of progress

Maybe the big 3 (Diaz, Milo, Spivey) should go into further detail in their statement on why “he was not a good fit." If anything, this “County Mafia” should be recalled. Corrupt bureaucrats, neither of them have to coin a phrase “laid asphalt and cut down trees.” Mr. Sutherland was perhaps patching the potholes that had been left behind. A change is indeed in order, but the residents of Luna County need to raise their voice on this. Until that happens it’ll be the same song and verse, a little bit louder and a whole lot worse.  (Jul 22, 2011 | post #7)

Lady 'Cats bring home 3rd straight state title

Congratulations! Great year! A prime example of what hard work & dedication will produce. When the summer begins, these kids will be on the golf course practicing their craft while some kids will be sitting on the couch, eating hot cheetos and drinking Dr. Pepper.  (May 12, 2011 | post #4)

High schools close campuses and cut mealtime

There is a cancer at public schools. There is a strong "ME" mentality and a lazy mentality that the majority of kids do not want to do the work necessary to be successful. There is also a major drug and alcohol problem that everyone is afraid to talk about and I see nobody stepping up to try to turn it around. You have to change the teenage culture before you start to try to turn them into successful young adults. As the baby boomer generation gets older their coddled kids have now become parents to a more coddled and entitled group of kids. Now I am not saying that there are not some great hardworking, dedicated kids. There are several at all schools but the problem is the majority of the kids are too quick to quit or to join the crowd. Not trying to offend anyone, just saying what I see.  (May 10, 2011 | post #97)

Going to be interesting to see how 3A this post season now that Bloomfield moved up to 4A. Still, Bloomfield would have repeated IMO.  (May 4, 2011 | post #1)
