NASCAR RaceDay on SPEED Continues Double-Digit Ratings Roll

Plus the local tracks strive to promote family entertainment. Your kids are safe there. Pay attention to what businesses are sponsoring the cars and the races, be a real racing fan and do business with them and thank them.  (Monday May 5 | post #8)

NASCAR Stars Call for Drug Testing

This was about drug testing. I wish they'd do it at my track. I go for anything to be safer and to exclude druggies from the good things in life until they clean up. Drugs are gonna be a big problem to society if we don't come up with a real plan to fight it. I'm for testing anyone or everyone for whatever reason possible. And get the users some help. The dealers need jail time.  (Monday May 5 | post #56)

NASCAR RaceDay on SPEED Continues Double-Digit Ratings Roll

I can't watch the races at home anymore. I have to go somewhere else. It isn't family entertainment now that the commercials are all about enhancement and enlargement of "certain parts of the male anatomy" as they put it. My wife wishes there was a product to make it smaller sometimes.... HA! Thus, I've pretty much lost interest in NASCAR. The real thing at your local track is where the challenge is. You have to know what you're doing and how to do it. There is a class of racing just for you. To be at the NASCAR level is about as reachable a goal as an Olympic medal.  (Sunday May 4 | post #6)

Charges filed in crash that killed MHP Trooper near Kalispell

Regardless of exactly who was killed, the point should be that her carelessness killed a person. She has to live with this the rest of her life. Only she knows if this is sufficient punishment. Unfortunately, nothing will bring David back. But some awareness of the situation could help prevent it from happening as often as it does. Sometimes legal punishment gets the public's attention if the media will put it up for display. A lot of factors will be used in making a judgement, I am not privy to any of them so I will not make one.  (Sunday May 4 | post #3)

Stock car racing

I need some serious, honest opinions about something, preferably from folks who are involved in stock car racing. By involved, I mean the actual owners and drivers of asphalt or dirt track cars. It's about rules. Why do we have them, who should enforce them, who should be exempt from them, and what should happen when they are broken? Please give logical, responsible and experienced answers. The goal is to approach our local racetrack with a truly well conceived and believable answer to their problem. The problem is there are only three cars in some classes, six in another, eight in another. Over half the cars are missing. In my case, and many others, it because of the rules, or lack of them. Same thing, when there is no enforcement or penalty. Help me, please. We can fix this. Thank you.  (Sunday May 4 | post #1)

Filly Eight Belles is 2nd, but suffers fatal injury

We should take a survey around the animal world, among wild animals and domesticated. Is life better and more humane in the wild, or do they like being under the care and control of humans? Also, are animals competitive naturally, or are they just racing or performing because they are forced to? I have no idea, but these are the questions I'd need answered to come up with an opinion of all of this. I've never been to a horse race, although they happen all around me. Sure, it's all about money. That's why I prefer stock car racing. It's a lot cheaper than what our two pet horses cost me. Bonus: no animal rights group can attack me there, and I get my needs for competitiveness fulfilled.  (Sunday May 4 | post #99)

Drug Testing Debate Fraught With Legal, Moral Questions | Flath...

This story is getting a lot of attention at the local newspapers. Commmentary seems to prefer we ignore the problem until a "constitution al" method of dealing with it is found. Since TOPIX reaches a nationwide crowd, maybe someone out there knows of an effective way to solve this problem. Please speak up, ideas are needed.  (Sunday May 4 | post #1)

Montana calls to local students

The first line of the article was a little off. There was no offer of "free education", was there? Later mentioned was "finance their continuing education". That isn't free education, it's a student loan. So he's offering a qualified worker a $10,000 sign on bonus, or a relocation package. Nice. But not unusual. That might work, and that's the only way he might get these positions filled. Semitool is a nice company. It employs a lot of people, and appears to make the Thompsons a bunch of money. I don't know Mr. Severson.  (Wednesday Apr 30 | post #2)

Charles and Kimberley are great folks with a neat little business. Be sure to give them a call when you want a super fun twist to your next party.  (Thursday Apr 24 | post #1)

Evergreen Man Charged with Homicide in Toddler's Shooting Death

As the story unravels, but not very much, I just have to know what is going on in our neighborhood that requires us to keep a loaded pistol (shell chambered even, apparently) quite that readily available. A little bit of gossip going around doesn't paint a very appealing picture of the person being held responsible for this bad situation. Just hearsay, though. For what it's worth. I wish there were more details available.  (Saturday Apr 19 | post #6)

Glacier High School FYI

Surely this started out as a sophomoric joke. But it has to be taken seriously and I support any activity that demonstrates such. Searching of lockers and homes may feel like an invasion, but it may get the point across. This cannot be happening in Kalispell.  (Saturday Apr 19 | post #3)

Considering Kalispell for 2nd Home

Yeah, we're a long way from Miles City. There it seems like everyone's in a big contest to see who's the nicest people in the world. Here you have to work at it a little harder, nice people will warm up to you if you are nice to them. All my Montana relatives moved to Colorado. I can't figure out why. Doesn't impress me! Kalispell does, though. You can live well and have fun here if you work hard and work smart. You have to figure it out. People will help you if you help them. If you're a loser you will be miserable here. I once loved Myrtle Beach SC but also hated it because it sucks to be a poor worker in a town full of rich retirees and tourists. Kalispell is moving that way too, slowly but surely.  (Saturday Apr 19 | post #69)

Californians coming to Kalispell disliked?

I guess all I can advise is, try to get along. Don't start problems. Try to help people. If you don't like people who have too much money, figure out how to get into their pocket. It's not hard, I do it every day. I work hard at it, and they like good service, so they give me money. I had nothing to do with how ancient natives or africans were treated, and I resent those who think I owe them for it. I owe them the same respect as everyone else, and everyone has to make me think they deserve it, which is a two way street.  (Saturday Apr 19 | post #41)

Evergreen Man Charged with Homicide in Toddler's Shooting Death

There's just something so very wrong with the whole story, starting with "what was that little girl doing in that situation?"  (Mar 16, 2008 | post #3)
