Buy what your missing.......

Here's the thing....I love AP....but when we drafted him we didn't need a RB. We needed a high draft QB. I love the new pass rusher.....when we spent freeagent money to get him we already had a great defense. The money needed to spent on a solid starting QB. The viking last QB that resembled a starter was BJ. We don't need a guy that throws for 350 and 4 TD's.....we need a guy that can get us 225-275 and 1 TD per game....the DEf and RB's will get the rest....we don't need a superstar....just a true starter. When you see guys like Kurt Warner riding the pine when the season starts don't tell me there aren't any viable options.....who here wouldn't start Garcia over Ferrotte.....there are many guys available that are solid QB's  (Sep 21, 2008 | post #1)

Vikings Org. is the problem.

The Vikings org seems to have this deluted idea that coaches win championships.....leadership is very important but players make play and win games. Minnesota has ignored the need for a solid QB for some time now. Check out a roster history on QB's for the Vikes...since Jeff George was released....I'm not sure why......we have had nothing but proven second string QB's....There are viable QB improvements out there for us.....Garcia can be had right now.....is he ideal?....prolly not...But he is capable of 225-275 and 2 TD's....who on our squad can do that....no one.The Vikes need to make a commitment to grab the next best QB out there .....and aggressively go after the next good free agent QB. We are in a great position to to tempt a great QB our team is solid w a dynamic runningback. Time to fix whats broken.....and has been broken for 3-4 years....the QB position.  (Sep 18, 2008 | post #1)

Minnesota Vikings will start Gus Frerotte at quarterback

I don't expect anthing fantastic out Gus.....however.....At worst I think it's a even swap.....there's really no down side to making the switch  (Sep 18, 2008 | post #195)

Ok here's my take.....I have no harsh feeling towards TJACK. He obviously wasnt trying to do poorly.....i believe he was doing his best but sometimes we just come up short. The responsibility lays on BC. He needs to man up and say we all thought TJACK showed some promise but he's just not developing fast enough....this should have happened during the offseason. He also should have let the headoffice know that we should bring in a veteran guy to "mentor" TJACK...IE. take his place when he falls apart. For 2-3 years now we haven't had a starting QB....run down the list of QB's on our roster and tell who the true starter is. Brad Johnson is the last thing even resembling a starter we have had. Brad = Boring....but..... 160 yards a game and no turnovers and we are 2-0.....not 0-2. My point is the Vikings org has been firing ...or not renewing stud QB's for some time....Cunningham ...Moon.....George ......Jeff george begged to stay in Minn. after a very successful year....they wouldn't even return his calls. I'm glad we spent money on a pass rusher.....but thats not where we were deficient. Our Def. was solid last year....we needed a true starting QB.  (Sep 18, 2008 | post #193)

childress won't commit to jackson in 08

What we need: A QB that can get us 150-200 yards a game w/o making 3 turnovers a game. If he gets a TD in there somewhere thats a bonus. We also need a Hines Ward type receiver that can get you that 8 yard pass anytime you need it. Next year when they fill up the box to stop our running game..... and they will......we need to be able to make them pay with a passing type run game by utilizing our receivers for short ball control gains. There are alotta good possession type receivers out there....time to pay some money and get one.  (Jan 23, 2008 | post #47)

2008?

Well I have to say I'm not thrilled anout TJ. He has shown he is a Jekyll and Hyde type of QB. One game he taken care of the ball, hitting his reads, taking sacks when he should, and mchanically sound. Then he'll turn around 7 days later....fumble, throw picks, have the QB mechanics of a 13 year old place kicker. But the bottom line is they won a stretch of games w/ him. To be honest can we say he played poorly enough to lose the job. Also can anyone say the viking have a better option at QB?  (Jan 19, 2008 | post #4)

Tiger Escapes S.F. Zoo Cage and Kills 1

Deb,....While I'm not sure I agrree with your position 100%, You make a very real point. What do we do when we go to a zoo? We walk up to an enclosure, face the animal displayed, and stare at it. In the wild this is seen as an extremely aggressive action. Hunter type animals see this as an attempt to dominate or challenge them. The animal at this point has 2 options...break eye contact and meekly walk away with its head down or impose its will the the challenger. My guess is that the tiger was as surprised to scale that enclosure as the people were that it did. Once his/her paws hit the walkway it was go time. To assume this cat went specifically after these youths for any reason is ridiculous. The cat pounced on the nearest easiest target. Most people in this forum are trying to make this a very complicated issue...it is not. We are NOT on top of the food chain. We only take that position when the playing field is uneven. The tiger whether provoked or not did what tigers do....take prey. They dont think in terms of revenge....more basic thought paterns....hungry... angry...scared....and thats the highest funtioning thoughts thay have....most the time their actions are purley instinctual.  (Dec 31, 2007 | post #90)

jackson MVP

This loss I don't feel bad about....the touchback ?....was a football player trying to make an amazing play....ya cant be mad about that. The safty/facemask....please... a weak call...yes his hand was there....but kind of a quick flag.....thedropped passes from Williamson....will never happen again ...he's prolly already cleaning out his locker. This is the 1st year in many that I'm already optimistic about next year. I believe we ended the season on a positive note overall....thoughts gentlemen?  (Dec 31, 2007 | post #16)

williamson fired

Was anyone surprised that he dropped that pass.....I wasn't. He simply performed in the same manner he has since he arrived in Minn. Then problem is he's worthless on the market....everyone knows he can't catch......soooofrustrating  (Dec 30, 2007 | post #12)

Could Brad Johnson Get a win for the VIkes this week?

Not really a fair comparison.....You put Johnson with this running game and we are in the playoffs. You put TJ with what Brad had to work with and you'd see TJ on the trading block. However the kid showed me something this last game...leadership....poise.....he will be the starter at at the beginning of next season...but we must have a solid backup.  (Dec 30, 2007 | post #16)

As I stated above .....for anyone doubting a tigers ability to jump that high go to youtube and seach "Tiger attacks elephant". You'll see how wrong you are.  (Dec 30, 2007 | post #88)

Wow the ignorance of many........The further the investigation goes the proof that says there was no....NO taunting. Then the next moron will ask then why would it attack. If you knew anything about large cats you would know that even in the wild Tigers and Leapords are commonly know to be maneaters. They see us as food.....surprise....they are carnivours. When you combine 5this with an animal that has been caged and I'm sure has no natural fear of humans do to its zoo lifestyle we should not be surprised by an unprovoked attack. And for the livingroom expert that says a 300 lb tiger cant jump 12 feet up.....go to youtube and search Tiger attacks elephant. Then come back here and apologize for your ignorance. the zoo is completely at fault. The enclosure did not come close to meeting specs. They will get owned in court both criminally and civiley.  (Dec 30, 2007 | post #83)

Could Brad Johnson Get a win for the VIkes this week?

Well...if ya take the redneck out of his post he's right....Its not TJ's fault his mechanics suck.....who in the vikes org scouted him and missed that.....now back to the topic. yes i think we would have clinched by now with Brad Johnson.....main reason is he rarely hurt the team. very few turnovers. We would have had one more win this season minimum.  (Dec 29, 2007 | post #6)

Past the crow pleaseeeeee

My God....I cant believe I'm saying this...I agree with avant on the sorgi thing(actually I'm loading 1 bullet into my revolver). We have enough backups.....actually thats all we have. Mcnabb or culpepper? God.....do I have to pick? Is there a curtain number 3?.....Between those 2 I have to go with Mcnabb.....Culpepper is still throwing way to many picks and the fumbleitis still isn't cured. Here's something to ponder....if Brad Johnson was still the QB. would we be in the playoffs already?  (Dec 29, 2007 | post #16)
