El Paso City Council votes on gun sale code of conduct du...

Let me see if I'm getting this straight: Mexican citizens, accompanied by hordes of their militant activists and entitlement-hungry sympathizers, coming to a sovereign nation and DEMANDING legislative action, DEMANDING U.S. aid money, and calling for amnesty (under the color of "compassion ")? Un-freakin'-believ able. I swear, my faith and my upbringing me have taught me to love, but these cowardly hypocrites make it so easy for me to care not a bit about their "cause". Oh, and this gem: ***** "Two El Paso residents who spoke to the City Council said they were against the resolution. One of the critics, Salvador Gomez, said he supported the caravan but thought its efforts should be focused in Mexico. "I'm tired of hearing people come and criticize my country," he said. "The place to make an impact is on Ju├írez, not on this side of the border." CARAVAN MEMBERS RESPONDED BY STANDING UP AND TURNING THEIR BACKS TO THE SPEAKERS. ***** So not only do they DEMAND that U.S. citizens give them all they want, it's entirely acceptable that they act like juveniles if someone with a different point of view speaks their mind? It'd be laughable if I didn't just want to curl up a fist and aim at their bearded, Hemingway-wanna-be -looking mugs. And to top it all of, the majority of our city council voted in favor of this stupid resolution (non-binding, mind you.... they must not have much to do at city council). El Paso city/county government: Where lobotomized minions come to serve (themselves).  (Aug 22, 2012 | post #2)

The Guardian: Mexico: youth follows drug barons' fashion ...

The article is actually from the Guardian, a UK publication. The EPT is linking to the story. I'm not surprised the majority of the stories in the local paper are Juarez or Ft. Bliss related... given where we live.  (May 27, 2011 | post #13)

East Side bar gets painted threat

I'm chalking this one up to a couple of hoodlums out for a night of no good, who thought it'd be funny to emulate what's going on in Juarez. Do you really think a legitimate extortion threat wouldn't bring in the FBI to investigate? The last thing the cartels want is the American Feds breathing down their necks. That's not to say they're not here, but to replicate their modus operandi in the U.S. would be suicide.  (May 26, 2011 | post #10)

Large cougar killed in Ruidoso neighborhood - Ruidoso News

Upon reading the headline, for a minute there I thought Kirstie Alley had met a horrible fate while shopping on Sudderth Dr. I kid.  (May 23, 2011 | post #14)

Candidates: East Side needs more businesses

What's needed is an anchor... something that will draw travelers off I-10 and onto the loop. A nationally-known name, like Dave & Busters, Hard Rock, ESPN Zone, etc. The hotel chains and other nightspots will follow. The wide, vast open space east of the loop between Pellicano and the Target/Best Buy center could be the site for a huge entertainment district, maybe even a future sporting arena. Well, that's one idea... all I know is we already have plenty of "dollar" ' stores, don't need any more.  (May 20, 2011 | post #4)

200 gather for Tax Day Tea Party

So what you're saying is that he shouldn't even bother talking to anyone who's not black? And here I thought the great black leaders of a generation ago fought wholly against separatism and segregation. I guess separatism is OK if the other guy doesn't agree with your ideology. You and your kind (read: idealogues) need to step back and listen to some of the stuff you say; you'd be flabbergasted.  (Apr 19, 2011 | post #59)

Mexico in Focus: Pepsi becomes "Pecsi" in Mexican market

Wow. You are truly a genius in all matters of linguistics. Is there an oxygen deficiency where you're at? It must be a lonely feeling when everyone around you looks at you in that confused, "what's wrong with him" kinda way.  (Mar 31, 2011 | post #66)

Mexico in Focus: Pepsi becomes "Pecsi" in Mexican market

What I don't get is- the native Spanish speakers can name their kid "PEPE" and pronounce it the way it reads phonetically but can't take the same 3 first letters and pronounce "PEPSI"?  (Mar 31, 2011 | post #43)

2 US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents shot in M...

Whatever your opinion is on the Drug War, illegal immigration, or any other bi-national issue, remember that these 2 agents were serving YOUR country. My condolences to their families. I'm all for a debate on the possibility of decriminalizing social drugs, but don't for one minute think that'll solve the problems in Mexico. Today's Mexican drug lords may well be tomorrow's human-smuggling bosses. Trade one corrupt crime for another.  (Feb 15, 2011 | post #29)

City grants tax breaks: New East Side housing, Fort Bliss...

Rush hour traffic on Montana in that area is bad enough as it is. While I'm all for giving soldiers another quality housing option, I have to ask if the city or TXDOT have any contingencies related to new housing projects on/near Montana Ave.  (Jan 7, 2011 | post #4)
