Governor supports 2 Alamogordo schools

My question is: The Edu Dept will have to audit the school's financials at request of the gov, correct? I hope the Edu Dept finds all the things that are not necessary and makes the school make cuts where they can be made, not in layoffs and closings. Queen I have a few questions for you. What makes you so bitter? Are you ever happy about anything? Why must you make this into a crusade to get rid of the base? My family is active duty, we live in town and pay taxes. My son starts in the school system this comming year and its IN TOWN not on base. I pay my taxes and support education. The only person who would benefit for a private school on Holloman is you and that only reason would be that you got your way. I want to say thank you to all of you who were relentless and saved our school. Its refreshing to know there are still some people out there that care about our kids and the community. Sorry for turning this post into a rant but I can not stand to read the negativity anymore. Good day to all!  (Jul 16, 2009 | post #51)

Rock causes truck to flip near High Rolls

i thought the ADN writer got the facts wrong. usually if you hit something head on you would have a crushed front end not one still partially intact. The writer made it sound like it was the guy who was driving fault.  (Jun 25, 2009 | post #17)

Rock causes truck to flip near High Rolls

"Klaene said the pickup was traveling uphill and hit a very large rock that caused it to flip over onto its cab around 4 p.m." Just a question but how fast and how hard would you have to hit a "very large rock" to make it flip over?  (Jun 24, 2009 | post #2)

would someone tell me if this is proper or not?

In regards to sentencing, doesn't a guity verdict on a specific count carry certain penalties? Guerra received the life term because that is what the minimum is for the guilty verdict? Judges get assigned cases last minute sometimes and that means they would have to live in a bubble so they would never hear about anything that may involve a future cases. Judges can get sick, die, quit, or recuse themselves and someone needs to take over. Just a thought.  (Jun 23, 2009 | post #18)

Guerra guilty: first degree

This is the United States and the official language is English. If a Frenchman came to the US and committed a crime and rights were given in English not French, does that mean that he has the right to do whatever he wants. If I go to Mexico and get arrested do they have to talk in English to me since I don't speak Spanish? I don't think so. She was given an interpreter at her trial. Did someone at one point read her the rights in Spanish. If I live in a foreign country I would be expected to speak thier language. Why would this paper specifically write "rights were read in Spanish". I know a lot of people who have surnames that are not Spanish and they speak Spanish really well. And your point is???  (Jun 22, 2009 | post #29)

Alamogordo police logs

After investigation of a hit-and-run crash at Moonglow and Starlight, Scott Mitchell, 26, of the 100 block of Crews Avenue, was ticketed for alleged immediate notice of accidents, duty upon striking a parked vehicle and alleged tampering with evidence. Investigation revealed that on June 13, at approximately 1 a.m., Mitchell allegedly crashed his 1996 Mazda Miata into a legally parked U-Haul truck. Mitchell allegedly moved his car from the scene and began to disassemble it. He was cited to appear in Magistrate Court. You mean to tell me he left the scene and then started to take his car apart. Did he not think anyone would notice if the bumper and hood weren't attached to the car. He disassembled it. Oh my....  (Jun 17, 2009 | post #11)

Alamogordo police logs

At approximately 11:36 p.m., Department of Public Safety officers responded to the intersection of La Velle and Zuni for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victims were westbound on U.S. Highway 70 from the U.S. Highway 54/70 junction when a red Lincoln with an Arizona license plate pulled alongside the driver's side of the victim's vehicle and fired multiple rounds. Several shots struck the vehicle. This is a joke right? ((shaking my head while head is in bowed position.)) Not even safe to drive down the street anymore. This is getting to be ridiculous.  (Jun 17, 2009 | post #10)
