once again you assume things about our beliefs. you seem to be well-versed in our beliefs. you quote from our prophets as if you are educated on our beliefs but you have just shown with this statement that you are not. We believe in free agency in life as well as after death Just because your baptism is done here by proxy DOES NOT mean we are making you choose our beliefs, you still have agency to accept or decline the gospel. If you are going to state our beliefs please do it in full. (Sunday Jun 22 | post #178)

You have spoken as though I have tried to decieve and nothing could be farther from the truth. I do not need to use the BOM to explain my answers. Everyone knows who Adam is, He is our first earthly father. As for Christ, he came to take upon himself the sins of the world. We believe that before we were born we lived in heaven as spirit children. We were given the choice to come here and gain a body just as our Heavenly father. We knew that we would be tested but that if we live a worthy life we may return to our heavenly father. God wanted us to have free agency. However satan wanted to rule us. As far as the Book of Mormon is concerned, we believe that is an account of Jesus Christ visit to the ancient americas. It is another testement of Jesus Christ and in no way replaces the bible. We don't believe Adam became God and your responce does not take from the fact that the trinity is disputed using verse from the bible. How do you explain verses that show the three to be seperate beings such as the one i quoted earlier? (Saturday Jun 21 | post #147)

Thank you for your honest answer. Now lets address our beliefs in the mormon church. Yes we believe that God, Jesus Christ and the Holy spirit are three seperate and distinct beings making One Godhead. This is not information we have gained from the Book of Mormon, this is directly from the bible. For example, When Jesus Christ was baptized , God spoke from heaven saying This is my son in whom I am well pleased. Was Jesus talking to himself? of course not. This is one of many examples found in the Bible. I was raised in a baptist home and even as a young child the concept of God, Jesus, and the holy spirit being one in the same NEVER made sense to me. And their is plenty of evidence in the bible to support the mormon beliefs. (Saturday Jun 21 | post #145)

Hate? you apparently have no idea what a temple is. and unfortunatly i'm almost positive you do not care. You should however educate yourself better before stating falsehoods about our beliefs. I truly hope you will one day understand how sacred our temples are. (Saturday Jun 21 | post #7)

What serious sin do you feel we are commiting over and over again? you wish we could not practice our religion, and you have a right to feel that way. However, what makes you feel this way? (Saturday Jun 21 | post #142)

Very well said HR. Actually I can see both yours and james' view on this issue. But you are absolutly right abut setting the standard. I try to teach my children that if you are wearing something or watching something that you would be ashamed of if Jesus were standing here with you then it is the wrong choice. Then I pray that my children make the right choices even when they are not with me. And I must say to my knowledge they do a wonderful job in choosing the right. (Thursday Jun 19 | post #221)

I know I may as well be talking to a brick wall here but it totally aggravates me when people don't listen. We are in no way treated as second class citizens. And as for simple minded we have many highly educated women in our membership. very strong women who are more than happy to speak their minds. Furthermore, we are regarded as the ones who make the world a brighter place. Without us many things would not be possible. I grew up in a baptist church, and have attended churches of many religions and I know for a fact that of all the churches I have been to, none has treated women with the level of respect that the LDS church does. I don't know if you are so adamant about this issue because you are concerned about us or if you just want to be right but i assure you your efforts are wasted. (Thursday Jun 19 | post #198)

I can understand what you said and maybe this will help you find it easier to talk with your mormon friends. Jesus Christ is the backbone of our belief system. I can't speak for other mormons but as for myself ( and i think many others) we strive each day to be as christlike as we can. This is also true in other religions. Jesus Christ is a part of everything we teach and worship. Our love for him and our heavenly father is boundless. They are the foundation of our belief system. So you see we do not worship mormonism, but by following our beliefs and living them daily we are showing our love for our heavenly father and Jesus Christ. This is how we worship. By keeping the commandments and the words of wisdom. (Jun 18, 2008 | post #184)
