Teenager Killed By Train In O'Fallon, Illinois

Either the persons' are talking on the cell or listening to music and don't hear the horn. please be aware... condolences to the family.  (Saturday Aug 2 | post #6)

CSX lawsuit

sad situation here that happened. Another young life was taken. until some one reads the police report and all the information provided by the train crew no will actually know. They will only assume. this father is grieving. As many parents do wether or not it was his son's inexperience at driving or the CARRIER'S LACK of responsibility to maintain the right of ways. We do not know. but many who lose some one try to replace them with the almighty dollar for their pain and suffering. The factors at hand was that a young life was taken and a very large well protected company is responsible so to speak for an error in judgement. The train crew was doing their job, other factors may have played into this, there are things called speed tapes and some locomotives have an onboard camera due to situations like this. Where the public will no doubtly place blame on the crews. The trains do not have steering wheels nor a gas pedal or brake pedal. they are controlled by a throttle and the brakes are throttle controlled and it takes roughly a mile for a train traveling at roughly 55 mph to stop, steel on steel depeneding on the length, tonnage and grade of travel. the parents involved have every right to be upset and mourning, but just like everyone else in america it's all about who they can sue to make them suffer for their loss. go after the carrier, hold them responsible, contact the fra, and the ntsb for reports, but negligence upon the crews, hardly their hands are tied and governed by rules upon rules and the fear factors that are implemented on them by tyrant controlling officials. my condolences to the family for their loss. god bless  (Jun 27, 2008 | post #3)

Boy's quick thinking saves mom from train

just shows the sign of how self absorbed and impatient we are as a society. always in a hurry and will blame everyone else for our own demise. kudos for the young boy for quick but dangerous thinking. Hopefully his mother will learn not to rush and make the same mistake again in the future. life is too short. enjoy it while we can.  (May 4, 2008 | post #31)

NS says crack in rail no big deal

you can contact the ntsb (national transportation safety board) or the fra (federal railroad administration) about these issues and see if something can be done. The monitor everything from rails to trains to trucks on safety  (Apr 27, 2008 | post #2)

Train Derailment

typical ignorant redneck. think about every thing you buy is hauled by a train in one way or another. the containers that are brought by ship to the ports then transported to rail and then to truck to be delivered to your famous "WAL MART" or local convience store. the chemicals you use to run your cars or tractors and even the pesticides you use on the farm are transported by rail to the customers and then also by truck.. so Moron eliminate the rails and you get rid of the truckers and then commerce and you have nothing. regarding the annoying horns. We would gladly stop blowing the horn if STUPID people would stay off the tracks or running the gates. But we are required by FEDERAL law to activate the horn so to make sure all those that are too busy in their lives at a crossing will know we are coming gotta love self centered ignorant people  (Apr 27, 2008 | post #4)

Sonics please leave

Ok, here we go. I like many of you out there support the sports entertainment industry. But here is one thing I am sick of and would hope that there are others out there too that may possibly feel the same way. This crap of us the TAX payers being strong armed by the billion dollar industries in major sports to fund their new stadiums and we have to foot the bill. And what do we get in return? Yeah a team that will stay for the time being, but how do we get to enjoy those teams? With the new taxes that our state and local government have implemented on us, most now have to watch from the comforts of our home cause we are no longer able to afford decent seats in the "STADIUM " we funded with our tax dollar. It doesn't make sense to pay for the stadium and then pay some inflated ticket price for a team that can be or has been mediocre for a long time and then we get some BIG HEADED owner in being a TOOL and threatening to take his 'BALL' and leave town unless he gets what he wants. First of all it should be about production, if the team has a proven track record of winning and able to compete at the top level then they should broker a deal with the JOHN 'Q' public on supporting a new place to continue winning. Not the other way around. If you build my PLAYGROUND I will continue to keep this team playing for your fans, but I do not guarantee they will win but this will make me happy and bring me lots of money for something I will get bored of later and sell and leave you the fan and your children and childrens' children to pay for in the future as I find another venture to spend my money on later. It's a business and it's entertainment, I do agree, but it's also strong arming the hard working people that support the teams in order to keep some billionaire spoiled brat happy on his playground. Most business's have a performance scale to go by and live by charts and graffs. And if performance isn't meeting the quota there has to be changes, or a reorganization to take place in order to turn the negative into a positive. These teams that threaten to leave, let em leave. They want fans to support them and pay top dollar for the event. Then provide us with top dollar entertainment. Not some pathetic backyard b.s. And if they want a new "playground " dig deep into your pockets and fork out some money for your investment and maybe us as the JOHN 'Q' PUBLIC will work with you and help with your playground. but if the team stinks and MGMT can't find a way to make it work. REORGANIZE the mgmt team and start proving to us THE FAN that the team is a winner and not a LOSER.  (Mar 11, 2008 | post #7)

San Francisco Giants

If found guilty, should Barry Bonds go to prison?

and not like none of us have ever lied at any time in our lives about anything.... come on people, when faced against some uncertainty, every one will lie to save face or try to beat the system. no one can say they haven't and if they do they are a liar. as a child lying to our parents to avoid punishment, to the teachers, to the police, I wasn't drinking "OCIFER, I ONLY HAD TWO BEEEERRRRSSS" ... (slurring and listing to one side) COME ON, they are getting embarrassed more and more every day by the persecution ring known as the "MEDIA" everyday. So they will go down in history along with those from the past like "SHOELESS JOE JACKSON" AND THE BLACKSOX OF THE 1900'S scandal of throwing the world series...that's punishment enough.. It's freaking an entertainment business industry, find others to persecute, like the government officials that are getting kickbacks from the big business's we all suffer from. so now we need to set out after all those in the music world and DRUG TEST them before the shows. Oh man what are we coming too. SOUNDS LIKE MARSHALL LAW. leave it alone already.  (Mar 6, 2008 | post #253)

San Francisco Giants

If found guilty, should Barry Bonds go to prison?

who cares, it's the government that is starting to ruin the sports industry. Look at this way are they now going to go after the music industry and asking them about "their" performance enhancing drugs. I.e. coke, booze, etc.. because how often do they really perform sober. Their probaby a few that do, but over the years we all know that drugs and rock and roll go together. So he cheated, we shun him for life and he doesn't get into the H.O.F. it will catch up to him in about 10 yrs when he is sitting on the golf course and can't move or something falls off. let's not ruin the games due to politics, the government seems to be medling into to many things of late cause they can't seem to do anything right and are just proving how pathetic they really are and why we are dispised by so many other countries around the world. just let it be and try to have some dignity....sheese. . game on...  (Mar 3, 2008 | post #243)

Train noise troubles residents

glad to know that we have a spelling teacher on here. if you would take the time to go and read the laws on the fra.gov.org website and see the requirements you would understand what we are governed by. so you say we may not follow every protocal. So would this be the same as you as a driver that will speed when he gets the chance, or drive in the hov lane with just you in the car cause of being impatient or running a red light or a stop sign cause the laws don't tend to your liking. Those fines are small compared to what we as rails are governed by. So until you are behind the throttle of a train, you don't know. You don't know our job, nor as we do yours. So take it up with your city council about the noise from us following the laws. They are there for a reason, cause there are so many ignorant people out there that will run the crossing cause they are in a hurry and if they do get hit by a train and die or even survive they will then turn around and say "THE TRAIN DIDN'T BLOW FOR THE CROSSING AND I JUST THOUGHT THE GATES WERE MALFUNCTIONING OR THE TRAIN SHOULD HAVE STOPPED FOR ME, JOE PUBLIC" piss on your narrow mindedness, think before your rush those gates and be thankful that we do obey the laws that we are governed by to our best ability, for someday it could be somebody you know that will run the gates and not make it and you will wonder, "didn't they see the train or hear it blowing, even at 330 in the morning" DUMB ASS.. "kick 'em"  (Jan 13, 2008 | post #132)
