We don't need to blame anyone. James Holmes, the Colorado theater shooter, must take ownership and accept responsibility. There is no fault to be placed on the guns, on society, or on anyone except James Holmes, who chose to acquire the guns, chose to plan the attack, chose to booby-trap his apartment, and who chose to pull the trigger. Period. What happened is a sad situation and should not have happened. But, while some may find comfort in trying to find out how this "could have been prevented", a simple answer is that HE could have prevented it by not shooting or killing anyone. He had the power to prevent this tragedy. (Aug 7, 2012 | post #7)
I'm not so sure he was highly interested in sexually assaulting females...or adults of either gender. (Aug 2, 2012 | post #2)
PWC definitely doesn't seem like a top 100 place to raise children. From the crime to the schools (some of which cannot seem to make their adequate yearly progress (ADP) according to state standards, to the influx of illegal residents, it's tough to want to stay. But, the whole NOVA area keeps such a high cost of living (especially when you factor in constructive activities for children/family, which tend to cost) and private school (if you can afford it), that it's hard to up and relocate. The job market is not much help for getting out of here, either. It's a shame that Manassas, Dale City, Woodbridge and Dumfries can't get the crime rate lowered and the rif-raf out of the communities. **I'm not implying that law enforcement isn't trying. It seems to be a neverending task. (Aug 2, 2012 | post #3)
Instead, they are changing the date, for this national event, to 8/8/12. Why? Oh...there is a town meeting that interferes. It must be so important that it cannot be moved to another date. The National Night Out is the same time every year - the 1st Tuesday in August. Other towns in Prince William County will be particpating - and the housing communities in Dumfries, but not the actual town representatives or police in Dumfries. Are they so above the rest of the nation (as if they are the only town to have business to conduct on 8/7) that they have to move this event to the day after? Instead, there are very nice little messages on their website, www.dumfriesva.gov , geared toward the elderly and a nice, little picnic (on 8/8) and a poster contest, also scheduled for 8/8. Oh...and these supporting messages: "Home > Town Council Meeting ALL MEETINGS BEGIN AT 7:00 PM MEETINGS OF COUNCIL ARE HELD THE 1st AND 3RD TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE. For a copy of the agenda, click here. Individual reports mentioned in the agenda are accessible by clicking on the item in the agenda. * Only 1 meeting is scheduled for the month October and December." "Home > 2012 National Night Out On Wednesday, August 8, 2012, the Dumfries Police Department is asking its Town residents to join them in celebrating the vital role of the community in supporting and working with the Department to prevent and fight crime. We are asking that communities light up the night against crime by turning on their outside porch lights from 7:00 PM to Midnight in a show of strength and unity." Way to go against the grain, Dumfries. (Aug 2, 2012 | post #1)
I cannot believe thee are still people going there. When passing by, the other day, I saw a small cluster of adults and children in front of it. Granted, it wasn't a large crowd, but still more business than he deserves. I'm surprised people don't picket. I wonder if whatever moneu they make is going towards his defense fund? Sick bastard pedophile. (May 24, 2012 | post #3)
Sandy, You're right. At 9 months, whether in the womb or not, this was a baby. The life would have been completely viable and it's very sad that neither mom nor baby have a chance to live any more. This man robbed them of that. I'm having my first baby next Thursday and I feel my little one bounce around in my belly all day long. He has a personality and reacts to mine and my husband's voices. He likes music. There's no reason that he or any other baby should have their life taken. What's also not fair is that Cutts will probably be put in solitary - away from other prisoners - to "protect " him. THAT is not going to be fair. He deserves whatever he gets. What a horrible thing to happen! I can't believe I did not hear about this story. Does anyone have a link to an article about it? Thanks. (Jun 25, 2007 | post #19)
How absolutely awful! May God rest her soul and have mercy on those involved in her death. It sickens me that I heard Cutts may have already made a deal with the DA to get out of the death penalty. I mean...it's not so much the death penalty part that annoys me, but that they are making deals with this sick bastard already doesn't seem like any justice is being done. (Jun 25, 2007 | post #250)
A painful monetary suit, against Six Flags, won't bring her feet back or the life that she had. What it MAY do is show the company how much it will hurt them to make sure these "accidents " don't happen. One time is too many. (Jun 22, 2007 | post #39)

No worries. The focus is the woman, her 2 year old and her unborn baby. God willing, something positive will come out of this... (Jun 22, 2007 | post #181)
Well, even though this is a tragedy that probably could have been prevented, it happened. Thank God she survived and did not bleed to death. She will still have a life, though it is probably not what she envisioned. Hopefully, she will be able to use prostheses or even have her own feet reattached. It's very sad, but also could have been a lot worse. (Jun 22, 2007 | post #31)
I don't know why my words are all spaced apart like that! It wasn't on purpose... (Jun 22, 2007 | post #18)
