Small Business Owners of Hendersonville, Are You Networki...

Are you networking online? What sites do you like? LinkedIn? Face Book? Others? Four hours across the state, down the mountains and across the foothills in the Triangle, a new online phenomenon is spreading excitement despite the dismal economic news. inSide919.com is giving micro-business owners and local professionals a free network where they can meet each other online, and then in time, meet in person. Local groups are getting together to meet and greet at local venues. Over a thousand people are now networking, and the community is thriving with discussions, events, groups and new business opportunities. inSide828.com is a new online network ready for any small business person or professional living and working within the 828 area code. Towns like Hendersonville, Hickory, Boone, Morgantown, Asheville and more each have their own smaller groups within the community. As someone who was reluctant to network in person or online (some of us are shy-er than others) I waited a long time. But when I did sign on, I found that being shy was no longer a problem. Online you just greet people with little notes and comments; little greetings that begin to build familiarty, the ground work for building relationships. The real surprise is when we meet at local gatherings. Because we get familiar with people's pictures and learn about them from their profile and content, when we meet, it's like we've already met before. It really accelerates feeling comfortable with a person and having a good conversation. I've been astounded at how just meeting people and learning about each other has opened up so many doors for business and friendships. What would encourage you to create your own profile on a new online network like inSide828.com ? What questions would you want answered? What kind of "ROI" or return on investment would you need for 15 minutes of creating a profile, and 15 - 20 minutes greeting people every few days online?  (Jan 11, 2009 | post #1)
