I must ascertain that one's true colors never stay dormant for long. It is frustrating; However, that if I bring with me even a minim of hope for those that might otherwise give up on the traditionally oppressive color, that as usual; there are 5 literary displays of white ignorance, for every 1 display of white truth. Observing such a ratio, I am again; not surprised at how much hostility is emanated. Even deeper within this "chaosphere ", I find another undisputable, yet strange truth; that one might think, in a world where the "majority " does in fact have a social advantage and an innate sense of superiority, he might have absorbed much more, intellectually; Consequently, surfacing a more enlightened being. It seems to me that for the human species, it is pain that yields enlightenement, and advantage that yields ignorance. Certainly there are some exceptions, but very few. (Apr 15, 2008 | post #1955)
My opinion will not likely mean anything to you because I am aware you have not asked for it, but I've observed your posts, and from an inert perspective, I imagine you have been profoundly disappointed by white people; that's fairly obvious. Roxi you seem intelligent, but you are not the most reasonable person here, and I believe you would not recognize a fair dialogue if you witnessed it firsthand. Don't get me wrong, I've said it in other posts; 5 million whites drop off their little excrements of ignorance every day on these forums, I have seen that in a matter of 2 weeks, and I know that must wear on you; However, when someone with an honest perspective comes along to communicate with you, your automatic "rejection switch" makes any attempt at progress, futile. If you are not there already, you are on the brink of being a separatist. I don't know if that is the result of some one else's influence, or the result of resentment left uninhibited, but so long as you make some of the statements you make, you will only leave yourself a beneficiary of a poor social harvest later in life. No one is perfect, and even with all the proposed AA's that may or may not agree with my conjectures, even I can not approach you with the most humble of intentions, because you will, without a doubt; push me away. With that stated; just what defines a fair dialogue, and is every single white human being on this board truly beneath the height of that mark? (Apr 11, 2008 | post #1921)
lmao, lay off the mercury sammiches man. (Apr 11, 2008 | post #1918)
If I'm reading you right, that is. If I'm misunderstanding what your saying, I apologize. (Apr 10, 2008 | post #1877)
I understand what you're saying, but lets say hypothetically, that elderly white woman might even be a supporter of UNCF, anything she sees as being a contribution to help out AA's, does'nt matter what it is, so long as good intention is there. She does not see her race as being superior, but because of television or whatever else, she is still frightened when a black man passes by. The problem with what you're saying is that it's not racism, when in actuality; it is. No she's not a bad person, but she is still making a judgement even if there is no sinister intention behind it. It may not be evil, but it is still racism. If it had been the 20s, it wouldn't be the tv that caused her fear, but word of mouth by other whites. Which still implies the belief that somehow it is safer to walk by a white man than it is a black man. The response your referring to would be someone who was brutally beaten by a specific type of attacker, i.e if a black woman was raped by 5 white men she might have an inate fear terror of white men, not due to a belief system, but direct trauma. I don't even really believe in racial culture, I just think its easier to adapt the one around us because it spares us the work of having to be ourselves. (Apr 10, 2008 | post #1859)
I appreciate that, as that is one of the things I'm hoping take hold on this forum. Don't get me wrong I'm not perfect, I just want to make sure that even the most "militant-min ded" of members, (black or white) understand that it's all about people, and not about race. Might we approach our fellow people as friends, and not representatives of our cultures, nor the critics of cultures for which we insist on being divided; we could skip so much wasted time and conflict. (Apr 10, 2008 | post #1858)
You seem a lot like my buddy Kyle. I'm 30 now, but as a kid my friends and I were all "head bangers" and all we really did was hit the weights, then go stand at the corner at the end of my street, toke up and bull&hit for hours and hours, depending on whether we decided to go to school or not. It was more or less a predominately white neighborhood although you really didn't see any real racism, at least nothing other than the old folks, and most of you all know what typical prejudices old people have. Anyway, at one point a black family moved in across the street and they had a kid our age who used to walk back and forth to the train station everyday, and when he had to pass us; I swear you never seen such a nervous wreck. (We pretty much looked like skinheads and bikers) As time went on, he began to nod when he went by, then the nod turned into a "sup man", then the "sup man" turned into; stopping and taking a few tokes that we offered lol. We must have all been about 14 when he moved in, and 16 by the time we all started hanging around. Next thing you know; at like 18 or so he was tight with all of us, we listened to a lot of music he introduced us to, and we got him all into our death metal, etc. His family was a bit "stand-offish " at first, but now his mom gives me a hug when she catches me visiting my mother. Anyway, Kyle was unclassifiable in high school lol, no one knew what to make of him; kid had an afro, "Napalm Death" T- shirt on, one of those Goose jackets that were popular in the 90s and a big NWA patch on his bag lol. He's heavy into reggae now, loves Hendrix, has dreads, and like me; is trying to finish college late in life. He's a good example of being multi-cultured. (Apr 10, 2008 | post #1848)
Thank you kindly. (Apr 9, 2008 | post #1820)
If thats your way of saying I'm long winded, I admit it lol. (Apr 9, 2008 | post #1819)
Kickback, you said, "now think about the term "givers and takers" Not sure what you mean, Black and White? or just Successful/Non-suc cessful? Be a bit more specific. As far as being admired goes, I doubt it. This is only a forum, and my opinions aren't holier than anyone else's. I just thrive on being understanding, it doesn't mean I agree with everything everyone says. I am a note taker, and I study what little I can get from people's posts. I don't post often, so I at least try to post something to contemplate. How can you complain that its long and redundant when the majority of this thread is nothing but an ongoing argument? (Apr 9, 2008 | post #1815)
I was a bouncer in South Boston for 4 years, and I've pinned more "thugs" than you can catch in a 24 hour marathon of "cops". I assure you they come in ALL colors, and to the contrary to what many people might believe, more of the unruly people I've had the $hitty responsibility of having to deal with, were rich, white, 20 something year old coke heads, that acted like belligerent morons as the alcohol kept flowing. Following someone around a store for being black is obviously wrong, and I think even stereotyping a thug, whether he's black or white is probably wrong on the basis that its socially prejudiced, but I would be a hypocrite if I pretended that I don't have certain behavioral predictions about the mentality of the common "thug", regardless of his ethnicity. I can't stand pop culture, whether it's the typical white guy in khakis and loafers, or the black guy in gold chains and baggy pants; I think both are suckers for marketing executives, but that's just my opinion. I can't imagine how I would feel if I was followed around a store over my skin color, and those of you that have nowhere else to shop, and have no choice but to grin and bear it; my respect for your patience. When you're in that line of work, you have to be interested in watching people, and what I began to notice is; the average white person is somewhat socially isolated, as if being social is like some kind of painful exercise. Maybe this is just us New Englanders, ( I don't know) but in watching black customers, I found that they were much more verbally boisterous, laughing, joking and really just having a better time. Seeing such a contrast had kind of a profound effect on me, and what I realized is; many blacks have a sense of unity, and many isolated whites feel threatened by it, because they don't. There is no need for whites to have the same sense of unity, since the problems they face are more often based on the flaws of their individual character. Black people are doomed because their character is already defined as soon as they come out black. If he assimilates into white society, then he constantly hears something racist like; "your a real credit to your race", and his own will often disown him for being "too white". If he is "too black", then he will hear; "if you didn't act so ghetto, and your people didn't commit so many crimes and act like thugs, there might not be so much racism". Meanwhile, his actual character has never even been seen before, because his personality is forever drowning in the 24 hour reminder that he is not white, as if its some kind of handicap. Being in a white society teaches blacks about whites, and television, teaches whites about blacks. This is the biggest "disposition " that whites don't understand when they criticize blacks. They measure everything by the current legal laws of equality, as opposed to considering how life might differ. I don't exactly see a solution yet, just stating my hypothesis. KB: Trust me bud I'm anything but PC. I think I have a relatively gentle demeanor when I write, and that comes off as weak and blindedly kind. If you only saw me in real life you would never guess in a million years its me behind the name. I have protested the PC movement many times because I think most of it is a load of euphemistic $hit. As I've said before, I don't think many people contemplate the social effects of history. I have seen on this very thread, many black posters say prejudiced things, but it's (almost) always in retaliation. I don't keep a score card over who said something racist, if I did and had the ability to boot them out, there'd be like 4 posters left lol. I already made it clear in another post, that more times than not on these forums, prejudiced statements made towards whites are the least bit surprising to me, considering how many ugly things white posters say. On top of that, the average white person thinks black people are what they see on television, and don't even know what it is blacks are so frustrated about. Most of us keep going on and on about letting slavery go and that's not the center of the problem. There is a massive dividing line between whites and blacks right now, and there really has been for a long time, but most people wouldn't know it because all they have had to go by is the media. Its almost like the white man said:"Ok, heres your freedom; entertain us, play some music for us, give us something to laugh at, but don't ever think you can be (up here with) us. Thats a mentality I will not adapt, and when I can do so, I will make sure the cup of the black man is as full as mine. The government, nor the PC movement, nor the media is going to give you any real insight about (African American/Black) culture, you need to seek that insight out yourself. This is a hate whitey forum if thats what you want it to be, but so far the only hate I have recieved has been from white people that think im either biased or unkind. Reality seems to be a stream of ironys.... (Apr 9, 2008 | post #1759)
In watching all these recent posts, I have concluded a previous suspicion about people that visit forums in general. Many of you, both black and white, are more interested in "telling it like it is", or "gaining another post's worth of leverage", instead of leaving the discussion a better one than it was before. I really thought that we could all put our heads together and break some new ground. Other white posters have come on this board, read all that I had to say, and dubbed me as being a "convert ", missing the point of my stance entirely. Its a shame, honestly. Love is nowhere to be found here; in fact, anger is about the only thing most of you have in common. Tinkerbelle, I respect your intentions because I can see what you're trying to do, but your method is a bit arbitrary and flawed. Your taking the persona of someone who is both black and white, simply because you grew up in a family made up primarily of black people. While that would undoubtedly be a good way to develop a sense of culture, your forgetting that you are still white, and the world is still not the same place for you as it is for most black individuals (despite what most white people prefer to believe). I know that you are not asking me my advice, but in the interest of patience, try not to simplify issues and assume your situation endows you with the entitlement to emblematize both sides of the coin. As for the politics, I have nothing to say to anyone who believes there is a difference between the left and the right. We go on and on arguing about these things as if any politician in the last 30 years has had a scrap of authenticity. If you still insist on labeling yourself any of the "delightful " choices your government has given you, then your living in a little box. With that said, lets leave the politics out of it, for it will provide us with the least amount of common ground; as if race wasn't tough enough. There are both anti-white polls, and anti-black polls; live with it. Neither reflects some collective belief shared by all its members. Be stronger than that, why get upset over things that are generated by racially universal halfwits and illiterates? One last thing; Everyone might take a small step back, and really question why your here. There is an old saying that has a few different variations, but its basically like this: "To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail". I think just about everyone here might benefit in contemplating that. (Apr 8, 2008 | post #1734)
I look at your posts, I read the primitive, almost entertaining ideology you splatter on these boards with every click of your grubby finger that undoubtedly smells like a combination of cheap beer and ass, but sir; What I find most astonishing is that somehow, you beat out 200 million sperm. You might get a few people like me with a day off to waste time responding to you, but I don't know why you bother posting here. (Apr 6, 2008 | post #1650)
