Up next: Bears at St. Louis Rams

33-17? who the heck is drinking Kool Aid out there at the Tribune? 33 points? ...i must have slept thru the rule changes where punts are now worth points....  (Nov 17, 2008 | post #4)

Bears defense a holy mess

that was a disgusting waste of my sunday morrning... where to begin with this team? there were constant missed tackles, gaps my mother could run the rock thru, instances where the corner cushions were so huge you would've thought the Pack had constant "3rd and 20's" all day long... hate to say this, but we were totally outclassed, outcoached and outplayed yesterday by a (gulp!) better team. i feel the bile rising in my throat just typing that, but it's darn true, man. ...and don't even get me started on devon hester. i don't expect a TD every return, but i would appreciate average positive yardage on 'returns. good grief...  (Nov 17, 2008 | post #70)

Gay-rights advocates to challenge Proposition 8

lastly, where it is true that the majority of californians have spoken in favor of the proposition, the courts are there specifically to ensure that the opinions of the majority do not infringe upon or persecute the rights of the/a minority. throughout our history as a nation there has been instance after instance where the majority opinion in the state has been wrong and it was the judicial branch of gov't that righted these wrongs. examples: 1. interracial marriages 2. separate but equal facilities in the South (how soon we forget, my African American brothers and sisters. 70% voted for prop 8 in CA) 3. internment of Japanese during WW2. 4. housing laws/zoning that specifically targeted people of color. just some thoughts to stew on...  (Nov 7, 2008 | post #1275)

Gay-rights advocates to challenge Proposition 8

i appreciate reading all the comments out there from people against/for prop 8. please keep in mind: the CA supreme court stated in a summer ruling that marriage was a right for all californians regardless of sexual orientation. what prop 8 did was TAKE away a right that the court said was legally theirs. as a heterosexual male in a committed, but not married, relationship, i fail to see how two consenting adults choosing to be married is in any way an afront to the institution of marriage. is it not a greater travesty when Liz Taylor gets married 7 times, or Brittney Spears is married for five minutes before the annulment? where is the sanctimonious outrage when those examples are brought up? lastly, we do not live in a theocracy. people's religious beliefs are not subject to the law, nor are they to be instituted in our laws. there is a clear separation of church and state (despite the notations on our currency) and that is what our founders intended when they attempted to "craft a more perfect union."  (Nov 7, 2008 | post #1274)

Bears' Lloyd back to square one

i'd love to see the bears use the 'wildcat' formation! have a combination of forte, wolfe and hester in the backfield would be great and would keep the titans "honest" on D. so happy the game will be shown here in the Bay Area! looking forward to some hard hitting, bears football. i think the D will bring it this week and the D line will impose its will on the titans offense. at least i hope so. otherwise, we may have a long afternoon... Bears plan on taking Lions seriously

some thoughts about this article: the bears are 4-3. they could easily be 7-1, save some lapses in the fourth quarter. that disparity alone is reason enough for them not to take ANYONE lightly. the lions are still professional football players. (well, they're in the NFL anyway... what they do on a week by week basis is arguably NOT professional football...) it's the teams that underestimate their opponent who lose games they should win (patriots v. dolphins in week 3). the way the bears' defense is playing they have to come out every week with a major chip on their shoulder, hit someone in the mouth, and keep doing it for the full 60 minutes. they've got some serious games coming up in the next month (Tenn, Jax, GB) and they better get their defensive house in order or they'll be one of those 10-6 teams that misses the playoffs. the way the NFC east is this year, 9-7 ain't cuttin' it if you don't win your division.  (Oct 30, 2008 | post #31)

Bears not taking Turner lightly

regarding Harris' use of scripture and religion to motivate him... if it works, who cares? though i am agnostic, i would look with scorn at anyone who chose to judge me based on whether or not i believed in a "higher power." if Harris' belief system keeps him clean, honest and a great bear, who am i to comment?  (Oct 10, 2008 | post #26)

Bears not taking Turner lightly

thank god the local FOX affiliate is choosing this game instead of the planned Detroit/Minn snoozer. as for the falcons, i think the bears will handle them fairly well. i expect 8 in the box, daring Ryan to beat our DB's. that said, if Turner gets six yards past the LOS, look out. i don't think that'll happen, though. not with any regularity. score? bears 34 atlanta 13.  (Oct 10, 2008 | post #25)

Williams' words contain clear messages for Bears

lastly, he reminds me of David Terrell. all talk, no production. keep him away from the bears. we have a good thing going and should build the receiver corps thru drafts and wise, character acquisitions that won't detract from the team chemistry. GO BEARS!  (Oct 3, 2008 | post #30)

Williams' words contain clear messages for Bears

"never have so many owed so much to so few..." every bear player, fan and hater of all things detroit should thank this mind-numbingly stupid player for his words. i'm sure his quotes are on the locker room wall of the bears. i'd like nothing more than to see mike brown lay this blabbering fool out on a crossing pattern in the first series. ...and just what has he done to further the team such that his words would have any credence? he's a Millen pick: strike one. he plays for detroit: strike two. he hasn't done squat since he was drafted: strike three. please... play, produce and shut up.  (Oct 3, 2008 | post #29)
