What are some good underground grunge bands?

ok so for all you people who live in the UK....Over here in America our concept of grunge is different than yours i take it. in America grunge music has to have the following 2 main requirements... 1. Lyrics have to be from a real scenerio that describes a depressing situation (not depressing as in "hey im depressed im gonna go cut myself) but u know what i mean 2. and two the main thing that bugs me about this Nukeateen crap is that it lacks the 1 thing that makes grunge music grunge here in America....and thats the heavy distorted guitar sound....in song that ive heard by them they have absolutly NO DISTORTED GUITARS at all! In my opinion....Nukeate en IS NOT GRUNGE...AND THEY SUCK!  (Jul 14, 2011 | post #19)

Justin Bieber "I feel like the Kurt Cobain of my generati...

dude the whole point of my post isnt about homophobia. my point was that justin beieber is nothing like kurt cobain. he never was and never will be. and im not a homophob fyi. i dont particuarly care if a man loves another man or if a woman loves another woman. in my opinion this is america. we have freedoms. one freedom is we can love who we want to. im not gay but i do support gays and lesbians just as long as they dont show PDA. and i feel the same way about straight couples. theres a line to draw when ur out in public. holding hands and giving a kiss is fine but when youre in public basically having sex...is going too far. thought i would clear that up.  (Jun 29, 2011 | post #6)

Nirvana vs. Radiohead

RADIOHEAD SUCKS MASSIVE MONKEY BALLS! Nirvana inspiried a WHOLE generation of people to unite against the mainstream...thats what grunge was about was basically telling the mainstream people to go F**K themselves. granted Nirvana got into what they tried to avoid but to me it seems like Radiohead wanted to be in the mainstream and then as soon as pearl jam told their label to F**k off radiohead did a copy cat just to seem cool because pearl jam did it. radiohead is a poser band. plus radiohead to me isnt anywhere close to grunge! Grunge is in Seattle while radioheads sound is all the way in the south pole. they seem too poppy and alt to be considered grunge....Bush was more grunge than radiohead. sorry radiohead fans but im just voicing my opinion....not telling everyone to not listen to radiohead....like i said im voicing my opinion.  (Jun 28, 2011 | post #174)

new grunge/rock band......next nirvana?

honestly im glad to see alot of the classic grunge bands reuniting (even tho pearl jam never really called it quits) but i really wanna see some younger newer grunge bands emerge....dont get me wrong i still love all these classic grunge bands that created the whole movement but the live shows just arent the same anymore....back in '91 at every pearl jam concert eddie would jump around stage like he was on coke slam his mic into the stage and the band would destroy the set afterwards....but now if you go to a pearl jam concert its almost like eddie is on riddelin. to me i think thats what made grunge bands better live and what the grunge movement was about at live shows. i really wanna see some new younger grunge bands form and see that entertaining live shit like we saw in grunges haydays  (Jun 28, 2011 | post #148)

New Nukeateen Album

sorry but i have to say i hate nukeateen....they dont sound grunge to me at all....they sound more like the breeders which has more of an alt/punk sound. plus the lead singer just doesnt have a "grungy" voice  (Jun 17, 2011 | post #3)

Oh another thing i forgot to add....Justin Biebers music basically wants you to follow the rules like a good preppy kid....Kurt's music.....all about rebelling from the MAN!  (Jun 16, 2011 | post #2)

Justin Bieber "I feel like the Kurt Cobain of my generati...

ok so im guessing that this quote probably pisses you off just like it did to me. heres a couple of things that if justin beiber is reading this he needs to think about... 1. You did grow up the way Kurt did. okay you probably were born with a silver spoon in your mouth and mommy and daddy probably got you everything you wanted...kurt on the other hand did have it nearly as easy as you did. kurt pretty much grew up at a very young age because of his parents divorce. his parents didnt really pay much attention to him because they were so busy trying to get back at eachother. i guarentee you justin beiber has never slept under a bridge because he became homeless. i can say that i have...and let me tell you theres no way a preppy little pop icon who has to have the most expensive clothes would even survive a minute under a bridge. 2. Kurt became famous on accident. he didnt want to be famous because he didnt want his music going mainstream thus creating the preppy popular jocks that "he feared" to like it. (that quote was taken from a TV special i dont remember which one tho) he didnt do it for the money he did it because he had a passion for music and he loved his fans. Justin Bieber on the other hand only wants the money he wants the fame and from some articles i read he punched a 12 year old fan in the face because the kid was "annoying him". also eyewitnesses that were in the University Mall in Burlington, VT a night before his show in Burlington saw him getting into a fight with someone and also he got kicked out of Denny's in Burlington because the waiter/waitress was being quick enough and he also got into a fight there as well. 3. Kurt actually WROTE HIS LYRICS based on HOW HE FELT! Justin Queefer pays someone to write his lyrics that have no meaning what so ever. Also Kurt, Krist, and Dave actually created their songs by coming up with their own beat, tempo and melody. how do todays artist including justin beiber make their songs....they have a computer create the song and justin beiber uses autotune so he can sound like he can sing. now the only fake sound effects that kurt used was Double Tracking to make some parts of his songs sound more powerful however that didnt enhance his voice it just made it sound louder really. So if you look at those you will see that Justin Bieber DEFFINATELY IS NOT the Kurt Cobain of his generation. Justin if you are reading this please do us all a favor a put a gun to your head and get it over with cuz honestly with the way mainstream music is today....literally in another year theres gonna be something new and its not gonna be u....so please do us all a favor and just shoot yourself in the head. t.y. Sincerely, Future Grunge Artist/Loyal (4Ever) Kurt Cobain Fan Anyone else on here agree with me????  (Jun 16, 2011 | post #1)

grunge will come back

altho the only thing that we dont want to happen is what happend with Nirvana and that is to have all the preppy rich kids and jocks to listen to our music. they dont deserve to hear our music. that is what kurt was trying to avoid, and thats what we are going to try to avoid  (Dec 28, 2009 | post #13)

grunge will come back

right now i am trying to form a grunge band we basically need a bassist. we are hoping that within about 2-3 years to send out a demo to sub pop and hopefully bring back grunge (that is our bands main goal). all together we agree that todays music is shit and that emos ARE NOT GRUNGE...it pisses me off when ppl say that grunge people are emo and that Nirvana was an emo band. we are hoping to pick up where Kurt, Layne, Andrew Wood, etc. left off at. we are hoping to be a huge grunge band and bring grunge back.  (Dec 28, 2009 | post #12)

A Looking In View Music Video Comments

As of today i have seen the new AiC video for the song A Looking In View. personally i think it is prob. the darkest, most disturbing, and most powerful video that AiC has ever released. I can tell you there deff. was alot of money put into making that video. What is your opinion?  (Jul 8, 2009 | post #1)

Grunge Isn't Dead, It's Just Called Neo-Grunge Now

Personally i think Red is right. you cant like grunge just for Nirvana, you have to like AiC Soundgarden,Pearl Jam, STP's, etc. but not only them, u also have to get deep into that style of music. what i mean by that is you are only true grunge if you go out of the mainstream to bands like Madseason, Temple of The Dog, L7, The Melvins, etc. even though they arent mainstream doesnt mean they suck. they are really good bands.  (Jul 6, 2009 | post #22)
