Knox mayor uses campaign funds to repay taxpayers
well since we're writing checks, what about me? Send me some dough since it doesn't really matter and it doesn't hurt his pocket to spend it. I mean really, just cause it's legal doesn't make it ethical, right or "NON-STUPID "...(There's a word I'd like to see him use more often to show that smart qit of his.) (Mar 28, 2008 | post #77)

School bus rape captured on tape; teen suspect in custody
Amazing that students sat there and allowed it to happen. I know my kid has gotten in trouble for standing up for smaller and weaker kids being picked on, no way he woul dstand by and allow that to happen. WHat the heck are we doing to teach our kids better? I remember not too long ago the one kid that got beat up on the bus so bad got suspended for fighting because of a no tolerance rule in Knox County. It wouldnt surprise me if the girl gets suspended for not being able to stop him herself. I hope she comes out all right and gets the counciling she well need. (Feb 26, 2008 | post #1)
If Kosovo Can Be Free, Why Not Palestine?
Because Kosovo doesnt have thousands of years of strife based on religous dogma saying each side has right to the land. Thats why. (Feb 21, 2008 | post #24)

AWESOME AND A WONDERFUL RESPONSE TO THIS DIATRIBE WE HAVE HERE! I am so glad there are more that think that way. Personal beliefs are discussed and expressed in the home. Defining the roles and the existing climate and culture is the job of the school. It doesnt and shouldnt take a position on such matters. Thank you. (Feb 20, 2008 | post #104)

Thank you! Let them decide. Give them the information. Guide them how you see fit but dont muddy their minds with fear and retribution for those who partake. Give them the information and let them sort it out. Dont abandon them. Guide them and show them the love and compassion they deserve. The children do see the difference in love and tolerance and compassion verses fear and dogma. Dont belittle their oppinion and position because they are under 18. They deserve to understand and to make the decision. (Feb 20, 2008 | post #103)

I agree. I take the stand of compassion and tolerance. If we should tolerate a person not believing in God, should we not tolerate a person believing in God. And the same for the way we want to live. In any decision we make someone will disagree with it. The way I see it, is if it is only discussed as this is the way some people live, what is the big deal? I am not a christian either. I used to be and now I am stil deciding if I can believe or not. The discussions abound about parenting and breast feeding over formula feeding. I see parents lose their minds because they hear some one is formula feeding and not breast feeding like it is a travesty and the kid will end up on a clock tower somewhere because of it. The point I make is, If its not for you its not for you. But why sheild a person from it and let them discover it in a hedonistic way or a biggoted way and have them ill prepared with feelings they would not be ready to share. It's not fair to our children to make them think its wrong because we dont like it. (Feb 20, 2008 | post #100)

It's called free will. If you look in Genesis it will tell you how it came into the world and how that is the original sin. The OPTION to choose. It makes us accountable for our selves and to God. The point I tried to make and failed at miserably I might add, was that if you don’t have an ideology of similar interests, the argument can not be addressed with GOD SAID THIS ALAH SAID THAT....if both parties have a different belief structure. Now when you tell me you don’t believe in this because my religious beliefs prevent me and I stand by them. I have respect for that. It is perfectly acceptable and admirable. I don’t have respect for someone’s argument when they tell me “THIS IS THE WAY IT IS AND YOU NEED TO FALL IN LINE.” That is ridiculous and just the kind of fodder I grew up with and had shoved in my mouth all my life. I used to teach Sunday school and was baptized a Baptist. Then I thought about a lot of things and changed my mind. (As you pointed out.) I understand the urge and drive to help those of us who have strayed and call them back to the fold by the Christian population. However, within Christianity alone, there are so many disagreements on dogma alone how can any of you claim to be right about anything other than Jesus lived and died and the reason he died? (One of the many reasons I don’t believe anymore.) Such strife and disagreement between parties seeming to be led by the same deity can’t even read the same book and come close to one another on what it means. And with that I say thank you for the lively debate. However I still feel teaching someone of the “so called” abnormal/negatives of the world is just as important as the “norms/positives”. It is important to understand all avenues of life and where they are coming from to know heir world view and allow us to increase basic communication and understanding so the proper compassion can be provided as Jesus, Mohammad and Buddha all said should happen. I’m done for now. (Feb 20, 2008 | post #98)

And for those of us that dont believe the bible, you have no basis for your argument. So stop shoving the bible down ourt throats and come up with another argument! (Feb 20, 2008 | post #68)
