Where do you locals eat? Good restaurants?
I believe the casino boat departs from therE and therE use to be one of those high speed thrill boats that would leave the same area. NMB isn't that far from Little River either. You can find lots to do like shopping, golfing , Entertainment (HOUSE OF BLUEs, ALABAMA THEATHRE ETC (Jun 8, 2009 | post #24)

Nice try.. "I don't live in that area of Socastee I live in the other area". Your like the "SHELL ANSWER MAN" You've got all the answers (Jun 8, 2009 | post #57)
DUDE! Who uses that term "Dude"? Your afraid and you hope the bike week issue doesn't come to a vote. I know you want people on the Council that can be swayed to your way of thinking. Who said that the platform will have anything to do with bike week? You still don't follow what has been posted... Like I said "Please, read and write and remember what you have posted you seem to be losing touch with yourself " A MIND IT'S A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE (Jun 6, 2009 | post #603)

Myrtle Beach mayor defends effort against rallies
Can't wait for PT BARNEY to reply to the latest news!! City Council is a failure and now they'll probably increase the property tax as well as the sales tax. Hey! I posted this in the past "If the golfers are the big spenders in MB why don't they raise the cost of playing golf?" Heck, these guys shouldn't mind paying $250-$300 a round especially if it keeps those bikers away. LOL (Jun 6, 2009 | post #174)

You got that right "no dime in 10"...During bike week and the other 4 weeks that I come to the area..Spoken like a true "Damm Yankee" I'm sure you know what that means...Come on! You know the ones who come to the south and stay.. Crime look at MB: http://www.cityrat ing.com/citycrime. asp?city=Myrtle+Be ach&state=SC MB rates a 0 out of 100, 100 being the safest: http://www.neighbo rhoodscout.com/sc/ myrtle-beach/crime / Worst Medium Cities for Crime (200,000-500,000 pop.) On the other hand, the South seems to be particularly challenged with crime: 1. Myrtle Beach, SC Myrtle Beach has the highest total rate of crime in the nation, due to a high rate of violent crime and the nation's highest rate of property crime. In particular, the rates of assault, burglary, and larceny are particularly high. 2. Montgomery, AL The murder rate is significantly high in Montgomery, as are the rates of robbery, burglary, and larceny. 3. Laredo, TX While the larceny rate is high in Laredo, residents can take comfort in the relatively low rates of murder and forcible rape. 4. Waco, TX Like Laredo, violent crime is less of a concern in Waco than property crime. In particular, burglary and larceny are a problem. 5. Wilmington, NC Wilmington has the second-highest rate of burglary in the country. On the other hand, the rates of forcible rape and assault are low. Looks to me like the North is far more safe then MB, I pay the higher taxes , THANK YOU! Best Large Cities for Crime (>500,000 pop.) New Jersey boasts three of the nation's safest and most secure metro areas: 1. Nassau-Suffolk, NY * Nassau-Suffolk has the second-lowest overall crime rate in the nation, thanks to extremely low violent and property crime rates 2. Middlesex-Somerset -Hunterdon, NJ The Middlesex-Somerset -Hunterdon area has one of the lowest murder rates in the nation, in addition to a very low rate of larceny. 3. Ventura, CA Ventura has a very low property crime rate and one of the lowest larceny rates in the country. 4. Monmouth-Ocean, NJ Monmouth-Ocean has one of the lowest auto theft rates in the country, and an overall low rate of property crime. 5. Bergen-Passaic, NJ Bergen-Passaic has especially low rates of forcible rape and larceny. Best Medium Cities for Crime (200,000-500,000 pop.) New England seems to be an especially safe and secure region: 1. Danbury, CT Danbury has lowest overall crime rate in the nation, as well as the lowest property crime rate. 2. Stamford-Norwalk, CT Second only to its neighbor Danbury, the Stamford-Norwalk area has one of the lowest property crime rates in the U.S. 3. Johnstown, PA Johnstown has an especially low rate of property crime. The murder rate is a bit higher than one might expect, but is still well below the U.S. average. 4. Dutchess County, NY Dutchess County has a very low burglary rate, which helps contribute to low overall rate of property crime. 5. Portsmouth-Rochest er, NH-ME The Portsmouth-Rochest er area has low rates of property and violent crime, but there is a significant rate of forcible rape (Jun 6, 2009 | post #37)
The man can't even remember what he has posted! We can't expect him to understand what he's voting for or against!!! He also doesn't reply to facts he just posts more irrelevant comments. I think he might be the next Mayor (Jun 6, 2009 | post #28)
You're the one who doesn't want it to go to a vote! 27,000 voters.. lets 's see the vote for bike week 20,000 ,,,against 7,000. Let it go!!! why, because your wrong and have been.. You don't even know what you have posted. First it's "VOCAL MINORITY" then "VOCAL MAJORITY" and another of your highly intelligent comment "A BUSINESS THAT SOLELY RELIES ON BIKE WEEK ISN'T A VIABLE BUSINESS" then you counter that with "Golf courses suffered for years in May. Attractions and theaters went empty for a month. Malls were empty.." and "What you DON'T see is the silent majority who implored the Council to do something about bike week, this includes the business owners of all the Golf courses, theaters, attractions, Malls, and yes even the Strip clubs..LOL All of which suffer in May because of bikers who do not patronize their business" If a business can't survive because they weren't busy enough for 15 days then they aren't a viable business either, ain't that right?(just so you know May has 31 days,10 for spring rally and 5 for BBW leaves 16 additional days for business. BTW I know you don't read or can't understand most of these posts but if you could do just one thing "Keep track of what your saying because you seem to be losing it (Jun 6, 2009 | post #26)
Bar owner launches effort to rebrand motorcycle rally
Here we go again .. These are you favorite sayings "VOCAL MINORITY, BUSINESSES THAT SOLELY RELY ON BIKE WEEK" SILENT MAJORITY". You keep telling yourself all of that. It was a backdoor slap that backfired.. Put down the glass pipe. MB was hurt and if you think that you'll replace 5 for every 1 biker "keep dreaming" you'll never have 1.5 to 2.5 million people there for same week in May.. You just say some of the dumbest things. Btw gas is up to $2.71 a gallon ... LOOKS LIKE PEOPLE WON'T BE DRIVING TO MB THIS SUMMER EITHER.."STAY -CATION, STAY-CATION" YOU DO KNOW WHAT THAT IS?..O (Jun 5, 2009 | post #33)
And, as they build nicer courses further down in Beaufort, Bluffton and the other surrounding areas of Hilton Head the golfers will choose to go and play there. Leaving golf courses to rot and then home builders to start building more homes. More homes, more kids, more schools and that equals more taxes...Great plan.....You know as well as I that the better courses are in NMB and there ain't no way in hell that you'll ever be able to have a occupancy rate on South Ocean Blvd that rivals bike week..Never had and never will!!! Yeah Yeah Yeah I'm who cares.. Try asking the business owners and the waiting staff at the restaurants. Think they might care about their livelihood (Jun 5, 2009 | post #21)
As they did to sway the mayor last time.. Facts were wrong and now it has been proven.. lost revenue, lost votes, lost election,,, bye bye MB.. You prove another point it wasn't the majority that wanted bike week gone it was "the vocal minority" Put it to a vote so the people can vote. Isn't voting a right.. Oh Yeah? It's MB communist country! I can see the billboards on 501 entering MB .."MYRTLE BEACH WELCOMES BIKERS" "SORRY WE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND IN '09" or the "JESUS FORGIVES, CAN THE BIKERS (Jun 5, 2009 | post #20)
Bar owner launches effort to rebrand motorcycle rally
Mr. Mayor, Congratulations on your Bike Week being a bust! I'm sure the business owners and their employees really appreciate what you did for them during these hard times. One could only think that your intentions were good and well planned out. You targeted a group of people that mean no harm to the residents and you have alienated most of them from coming back to your City with their families. You created a police state in the City of Myrtle Beach and I'm sorry to say that the 4-5 times a year that I vacation in the surrounding areas of MB spending time and money in Myrtle Beach will be reduced to 00. I've read the Take Back May web page and what a bunch of lies that turned out to be. Nothing was broken down to real facts. 300,000-500,000 bikers during the spring rally and only 2,379 arrested were made that's less then 1%. How many of those arrests were your local residents? How many were directly related to Bike Week? Obviously more police will mean more arrests for violations and infractions. If tax collection is an issue, why didn't some one come up with a plan to monitor the vendors? You and the City Council not the people (there was no public vote) chose to impose new laws solely directed at the bikers. Some backfired on the City of MB and it's residents. How'd it feel to be boo'd at the ball game? I'm sure the locals loved the tickets issued for tailgating at the ball game and I'm sure they're thrilled to be stuck in traffic stops for over an hour on 501. Continue to do a great job! My money will be spent else where and I will also direct others to spend their time and money outside of Myrtle Beach! Good Luck come election time. "HIT THE ROAD, RHODES '09 (Jun 5, 2009 | post #31)
