Cabrera's time up

I agree that PA is the primary reason the O's are where they are now. However, I am hoping McPhail can turn it around. What I have seen in the past two years gives me that hope.  (Dec 13, 2008 | post #87)

Cabrera's time up

The Orioles have been making some good moves. Many here don't think that they are doing enough but they are slowly putting together a team for the future. Pitching for the '09 season is going to be a concern. DCab had a lot of promise but never really could put it all together. The Orioles were wise to let him go. On the farm, the Orioles have some good arms. However, that will not help the O's this season. They need to sign some pitchers to fill the voids in the rotation. I, like many others, had been frustrated for years. However, I do see some positive change under McPhail. The Orioles were in such bad shape before he arrived that it will take time to build the team into a contender. Also, even if the Orioles do everything right, they have to contend with the free-spending of the Yankees and Red Sox. It will always be an uphill battle for the Orioles.  (Dec 13, 2008 | post #85)

10 free agent who could interest O's

I saw him getting slammed in some of the political posts too. It's probably best for him to stick with baseball. I agree will all that Angelos has not been a great owner. But, we, as Orioles fans have no choice in the matter.  (Nov 14, 2008 | post #47)

Years after flying the O's coop, Phillies GM still delive...

Ghost, I gotta give you credit on this one. Gillick would probably not have left the Orioles back then if Angelos would not have interfered with his authority. And Mussina would still probably be an Oriole if the Orioles would have given him a decent offer - any offer for that matter. The Orioles management pulled his chains for too long and Moose really was pushed into signing with the Yankees. Mussina, arguably the Orioles' best pitcher in the past 2 decades, really wanted to stay with the Orioles, but for some unknown reason, the Orioles had no interest in him. I still haven't forgiven the Orioles for that.  (Oct 31, 2008 | post #24)

For Orioles, a season of mixed signals

That is why Ghost Oriole never registered. If he did everyone could see that he is the master of contradictions. (Well, I guess we know that anyway.) Stats that support his case = good. Stats that don't support = bad. He'll say we need to get rid of every 30+ player, then later muse as to why we aren't signing a 30+ free agent. I like Ghost Oriole. He makes me laugh on a daily basis. It's free entertainment. But I do wish he would register. That way we could have his posts archived for all to see and enjoy.  (Sep 29, 2008 | post #68)

For Orioles, a season of mixed signals

Um...Bob...what about me? I drink the Kool Aid too. And I think that the Orioles are finally really rebuilding. It will take awhile to unload some of the players but the minor leagues are improving and that is where the rebuilding will come from. The Orioles franchise has been in such bad shape for many years that it will take more than one year to fix things. Even if the Orioles do everything right, the AL East is the strongest division in baseball. It will always be an uphill battle. Trembley inherited the team and did the best he could. Although I like him, I do have concerns about the way he handles the pitching staff. I'm hoping he can do better next year and forget about pitch counts for a change. Still, there is hope for the future. Right now, hope is all we have.  (Sep 29, 2008 | post #47)

Painful loss for Orioles

I agree with those of you who criticize Trembley's handling of pitching. I think next year he should forget about pitch counts and go with his gut. The past few games have shown that these young kids can pitch. It doesn't wipe away their many poor outings, but they are young and the potential is there. After today, even with a hard loss, I see great hope for the future.  (Sep 20, 2008 | post #16)

Investigator says Palin probe to end by election

Voltaire needs to get a life and this is my last post about his cut/paste obsession. If he really wants to engage in real discussion, then I might reconsider. He posts the exact same thing everywhere and people react to it and he does nothing else. He is a waste of time.  (Sep 20, 2008 | post #6)

Investigator says Palin probe to end by election

This so-called witch hunt started before she was picked by McCain as a running mate. It was done by a bi-partisan committee, with the huge majority of members being Republican. As far as the refusing to honor the subpoenas: If I just didn't show up, wouldn't I be held for contempt?  (Sep 20, 2008 | post #5)

Clinton had a prosecutor trying to dig up dirt on the Clintons, when he couldn't find anything, he dug some more and after millions and millions of taxpayers money he found a sex scandal. Wouldn't you call that witch-hunting? And your comment about no digging necessary: There was plenty of digging!  (Sep 19, 2008 | post #31)
