Wanderer dies and leaves behind a wonder: $263,000

What a sad ending for this seemingly quiet, simple man. How wonderful that his life savings was able to go to his grand daughter. And I am pleased to hear that she is spending it on her education/future and not wasting it on trivial things like so many do. to the granddaughter, my prayers to you for a successful future. Keep on putting your education ahead of material things and you should do well with your life. May God bless you with all that you do.  (Oct 17, 2008 | post #35)

One man's stance on romance

LW1: I agree with the post that asked what you have done in order to see what she considers romantic. She may just like to sit and watch TV in seperate chairs, or maybe her idea of romance is coming home from work and the dinner is prepared, laundry and dishes are done and floor, bathroom and kitchen are cleaned so she doesn't have to do it. I also agree that if she is working full time (as is too common now)she most likely just doesn't have the energy to get "romantic ". As a woman who has four kids, and works a full time job as well, I can understand the stress of trying to keep up on the house cleaning and kid shuttling after an 8+ hour day at the office. It saps all of your energy away and romance just falls away. Its a "get it done" kind of thing. Or on the other hand, maybe she figures that (like alot of women do) men just aren't into the romantic part of a relationship. That men just want to get right into it without all of the foreplay and hand holding and cuddling. So maybe she thinks that she is giving you just what you want. You both need to go to a marriage counselor to hash this out before you do actually stray (as you seem prone to doing based upon your letter) Commmunication is the biggest key to saving a relationship, and a counselor can help with teaching you just how to communicate your needs to your wife without making it sound like you are blaming her for all of your problems. My husband and I have started just complimenting each other when the other does something we like instead of nagging that the other doesn't do things the way we like. It is the small things that help the most.  (Oct 17, 2008 | post #24)

Chicago man loses a leg to hit-run driver of a Mercedes

Mike, my prayers to you for as full a recovery as possible with as little pain as can be. I too hope that the driver comes forward to claim responsiblity for his/her actions and decision of that night. To those who keep on trash talking about Mike not having insurance or a job, read teh article. It said that he worked for a Pizza place, so he had a job. About the no medical insurance, how many pizza places do you know of that offer medical insurance to their employees? I haven't heard of one yet. (unless you happen to be in management) So, let's all lay off of the accusing finger pointing and just pray for his health and future expenses to be taken care of.  (Oct 16, 2008 | post #27)

Pope Elevates 4 People To Sainthood

don't be such a smarty pants on this. He never mentions "bible" but does say for us to "follow His Word" which is the bible as we know it today. How can someone be faulted for not having the bible before it was printed? Come on now, let's have a conversation, not a smart alek answer to everything.  (Oct 13, 2008 | post #16)

South Side Shooting Leaves 17-Year-Old Dead

That's muy point exactly. We, as parents and a country, need to regain control of our kids and if one can't do it, then ask your family and friends to help you put the kids back in perspective. They should be children, not thugs. If we all act together and enforce some kind of decent behaviour out of them, perhaps we can accomplish something. But everyone must be willing to step up. If not, I fear for us as we get older and these gang banging thugs are the ones running our country and the nursing homes.  (Oct 13, 2008 | post #19)

Pope Elevates 4 People To Sainthood

do you think that Jesus needed the bible? Since Jesus was God in the flesh, I am thinking that having a bible in hand would have been pointless, don't you? Especially since the first bible wasn't printed till many many years after He ascended to heaven. And not to mention the fact that the bible was written about things that happened while He was here among us (among other things contained in it) andf written after they took place.  (Oct 13, 2008 | post #14)

Pope Elevates 4 People To Sainthood

they believe and folow/teach very few passages of the bible and are taught not witht he bible, but word of mouth. Ask a catholic, and most will tell you that they "know because that is what they were taught", not that they read/studied the bible and found the truth. (I know this to be true because my father in law was once in seminary studying to be a priest, and told me this. He has since found out the truth and has left the catholic religion) Catholics aren't taught to study the bible for themselves, usually only the priest actually reads the bible. If you want the truth, just read/study the bible and pray to God/Jesus for the wisdom to see the truth in His word.  (Oct 13, 2008 | post #11)
