Former trooper gets quick guilty verdict
Yes, Mr. Collins was well-liked and did a lot of good in his life. That is evident by the majority of comments here. But there were 12 people who heard ALL the facts and decided that, beyond all reasonable doubt, he committed the crime. (Sep 17, 2009 | post #26)

The suspense is over. The new fire chief is... Rob Martin. Rob was the chief of the neighboring Pearl Fire department. And might I add, he's a very nice guy. I used to go to church with him. Rob starts September 6. How many applied? "Numerous. " Applications came from California to Michigan, and several from Iraq and Afghanistan. That's all we know. (Aug 19, 2009 | post #11)
This post started out with an error - the convicted judge is white. The Magnolia Bar Association, a group comprised of black lawyers, suggests that he be replaced with a black. I'm not sure this changes the argument. Personally, I think we should replace him with a woman judge. Then we wouldn't have to pay her as much. ... ... ... I'm kidding! Loosen up, people! Sheesh. Why don't we just replace him with a GOOD judge, or a good and honest lawyer? Good luck with that. (Aug 12, 2009 | post #15)
Philadelphia elects first black mayor in runoff
I agree, Mark. There's racists and ignorant folks everywhere. But Mississippi is changing, especially with the younger generation. I hope Lansing IL is changing too, because there's certainly a lot of racism there. Just go to the Lansing IL forum and read "Lansing teens face felony charges in fight" and "Lansing Illinois is changing." You'll see that Mississippi doesn't have the market cornered on race relations! (Aug 2, 2009 | post #17)
Hate Crimes Against Wade Demers
If anyone dares to go to Mr. Seeker's website, keep in mind that "Wade Demers" is the "Walter L Demers" who was convicted by a jury and sentenced to 4 years for Obstruction of Justice charges in 1988. He was found innocent of several other charges including making threatening phone calls. He has produced a massive website accusing many political, legal, and religious officials of various crimes and conspiracies. His feud with the City of Meridian, in a nutshell, concerns a burnt building with no water or electricity which he calls a church and desires tax-exempt status. There is a 10 foot x 10 foot room which holds 5 worshipers, and the city denied tax-exempt status on legal grounds. So now, the City of Meridian is on the receiving end of his rant about consiracies, prejudice, and injustice. And now, I suppose I will also be? (Jul 20, 2009 | post #3)
Pit Bull Kills Dog; Starts Family Fight
This week in Florida, an escaped Python strangled and killed a 2-year-old girl. A pit-bull owner is defending the snake, saying: 1) The snake was not a born killer, 2) Obviously the snake just wasn't 'raised right', 3) That snake loved children! 4) Other snakes are more dangerous, so why criticize pythons? 5) It was a surprise because the snake had never hurt anyone before! Mid-South Black males in state of emergency
Note that the article is from www.finalcall.com. That's right, the Final Call "newspaper " from Louis Farrakhan, head of the Nation of Islam. The man who went to Zimbabwe in 2002 to support dictator Robert Mugabe's bloody regime (www.wikipedia.org /wiki/Louis_Farrak han). A man who said that "white people are potential humans -- they haven't evolved yet." A man who said that "murder and lying comes easy for white people" and that God teaches him to "call the white man the skunk of the earth." A man so controversial in his racist rhetoric that President-Elect Barack Obama rejected and denounced Farrakhan's support during a televised debate. And now, some race-baiter in Ohio has decided that Farrakhan's article is news-worthy. ***Yawn*** (Jan 4, 2009 | post #5)
