The "Co-Manager" Position and EXA/MGT Layoffs

It's the future of the company, we are almost officially a fast food staff establishment. While you might like it you have to get use to it. They of course will blame Obamacare as to why they are going this route.  (Nov 20, 2012 | post #2083)

Complete registration, patient from other line of business

Bs its from our database including pharmacy. In fact I had signed one up the other day and in the address field it said verify date of birth. Not to mention when you pull a number up it shows the whole family including the kids and the dog. How this isn't a hippa violation is beyond me.  (Oct 16, 2012 | post #7)

2 More weeks and WAG will be a memory.

True but let's face it this company is just pooping on its employees and we still have very little idea what the ASM job duties are and more importantly the compensation. My guess is much more job duties than an EXA duties are for about 40k plus the new ridiculous low bonus.ie a decent current mgt wage. Kudous to the op for the new job we should all be so lucky.  (Oct 16, 2012 | post #4)

should exa run the store

Its all coming to an end for the exas. If they were to be a part of the future they would have the new pay scale. There is no future and the axe will drop shortly after Xmas. I personally believe sm have been told make their jobs hell and hopefully they will quit. Muliple close opens in a week no info half truths secret meetings its all coming to an end. Find a new job career and get out before it completely ruins your personal life. Don't let this company take you down as that seems to be the direction the company is going. They certainly could care less about employees and more about increase the stock price a nickel.  (Oct 2, 2012 | post #5)

bonus

Yeah no worries here because if the rumor I am hearing is true an EXA bonus will be under 400 and SM under 2000. While anything is nice this is the exact reason I don't include a bonus in my family budget.  (Sep 28, 2012 | post #3)

new compensation meetings

We really do not know what the future holds at Walgreens. One thing is for sure it is not what it use to be and in that respect is a bit sad. Now they are going to screw with everyones pay. Like it or not when we were hired we were hired in at a certain rate of pay, job duties, etc. They are going to change the rules then the ones that stay should play their game. Use your vacation/sicks days to find another job. Sure there are not $65+ jobs just vacant everywhere but there are different options and I personally will be pursuing them. I have given up a lot of personal events, family gathering because I had to work and looking back so NOT worth it. Plus all the relocating they put you through until you get a store.. Just think how many MGTS/EXAs will find a lower paying job, closer to their home, have nights and weekends off, a scheduled work week, holidays off (did you know other companies allow you to take vacation in Oct/Nov/Dec -- Holy *hit..) Sure it will pay less but your personal life will be 1000X better. Its just money and Walgreens is no longer a career but a job for all store level employees.. I wish all the best of luck this company is crashing - sell your stock and cut your losses... This ship is sinking...  (Jun 29, 2012 | post #56)

new compensation meetings

I totally agree but why do you think they will keep Managers especially when they are starting at $65K+ a generous bonus? Especially after this transition where the SM "develops " people and the ASM runs the store. If this is the new structure whom is more that likely to have their job at the end? I find it hard to believe any SM would except a $20K+ pay cut and really care about their job. I know I would not.  (Jun 28, 2012 | post #33)

To do your self evaluation or not?

Why don't they start weeding out the crappy managers whom do nothing do not engage employees or customers but just sit in the office ALL day. As an EXA I saw this more times than not and it was really frustrating and as a SM I myself am hardly in the office and often help in Pharmacy not because I am suppose to but because its the bread and butter of this company. Yes I have worked for SM who refuse to help in RX and have told me they have plently of help if customers are waiting its their fault.  (Apr 19, 2012 | post #18)

Any Mgts or EXAs quit your store yet?

google? never heard of it.. LOL Really that is awesome and a great idea. There are a lot of jobs out there you just have to look and network with different people. We should all look at this as a wake up call. I recently read that it is very possible that in the next 2 - 5 years 75% of the working force will either be forced to take a pay cut or go from a full time position to a part time position with of course the expectation of higher worker output. Looks like Walgreen's is trying to be the industry leader.. Be Well..  (Apr 18, 2012 | post #11)

My Store's Sick Policy

Why is your EXA talking to others about write ups/potential disciple action of a different employee? I know you can say your an mgt stl but I have seen many cases where the SM/EXA talk to photo cos etc. which they shouldn't.  (Apr 18, 2012 | post #12)

job satisfaction?

I have been here for 10 years and when I started as an mgt I was making what the SFL will max out. It was a different time, it was a career, it was fun to come in and the attitude of everybody was great. Over the years while my pay did increase the morale, the attitude has greatly gone down. It is no longer a career but a JOB. No one seems to care about the business but just the latest cause and covering their ass at everyone's expense. Seeing, hearing other SM whom just sit in the office all day, do nothing with customers and absolutely no help in Pharmacy - Yet the DMs look the other way. Now that I am salaried I totally feel abused, mistreated, and constantly made to feel guilty if I want a vacation day, god forbid I get sick and with 36 sick days I have earned them. I like many other of my peers are actively looking elsewhere for employment. Sure I might take a pay cut but having a traditional work week is more beneficial to me. On the other hand I almost want to stay just to see how it unfolds, kind of like watching a car accident. In my personal view the worse is yet to come.  (Apr 18, 2012 | post #10)

April Employee "NO PURCHASE MONTH"

I am with Captain Prozac after 10 years I have had enough. The once great company to work for is just a three card Monte shell game.  (Apr 2, 2012 | post #4)

Walgreens Store Managers

No they wouldn't demote they are not dumb, buy them out give them a serveance , they should just have a requirement to have a 4 year degree to be in a sm poisition - this would disqualify probably 70% of current store managers. Why would a sm do the same job with more responsibility for less pay. Doesn't make sense. The best position to have right now is CL, then exa. Let the back stabbing begin.  (Apr 1, 2012 | post #34)
