Amy Henslee Missing Paw Paw Women

It scares me to see her missing with her purse and everything left behind. I'm praying for her safe return, but I can't imagine any woman leaving her home and her children behind voluntarily. They think she's still alive according to this morning's press conference. So there's always hope. But still, it makes you wonder. However if the husband's involved his whole story about being at work would be proven wrong, don't you think? She put the children on the bus before he left for work from what I gather. It's odd to say the least.  (Jan 27, 2011 | post #9)

What do you think about abortion and Roe v Wade anniversary?

LMS, once again, beautifully written and well thought out. I agree with you wholeheartedly.  (Jan 26, 2011 | post #7)

Christian hangs, burns dog over bible

If she had worshiped Satan would you have linked this article Arctic? I doubt it. This woman is c.r.a.z.y. with a capital K. Unfortunately it's not too likely she'll receive the help she needs.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #3)

Gas Is Going Up..... Thanks Obama......

I've missed you too Dingo! Things have slowed down for me for a little bit, so I thought I would check in. Good to know nothing's changed at all...lol I can see it going to 5 if something happens to keep prices moving higher-a terrorist attack, or something that impacts our drilling/productio n capabilities. So there is potential. I want to say though, I'm not in any way saying we need to have a knee jerk reaction to speculators. We don't need to go all China on the free market system and limit our market activity and who can or cannot invest. An idea that has been tossed around a bit by the CFTC. Sure, increase margin requirements, but I'm not sure a limitation on speculative interest is the way to go. Anyway...you're right. Political affiliation in power has little to do with the price of gas at the pump. Sure, policy decisions like limiting off shore drilling and others will make it difficult to achieve maximum production/supply. Overall though I do find it ironic that folks are biting their tongue...maybe though they were right. Cheney's just so damned powerful he's got Obama in his back pocket too!  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #24)

Environmentalists Against Solar Energy?

Any sort of change is going to cause some amount of discomfort. So in this case, a change in the way we produce our energy is going to cause a pinch. We need to prioritize and use common sense. Many times we allow our emotions to lead the way, forgetting any sort of logic. We all know we need to look at ALL forms of alternative energy. At the same time though we need to be aware that there are consequences to any action. It's just a matter of whether or not the risk is worth the reward.  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #14)

Christianist Group's Billboard Compares Atheism To Murder

LMAO Amaz...too bad Michigan's birthrate dropped in 2009. You may be out of luck. Another case of using a broad brush to paint an entire canvas. Didn't we have a bunch of Atheists up in arms over a Christian bus ad not too long ago? Religion and politics...who needs it? Good grief, so many good people will go through life never meeting equally awesome people because their religion or political affiliation is different. It's so foolish to me.  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #6)

GR is dying

I agree with you Steelie. It may be "dying" when you look at the numbers used to compile the list. When it comes to what's around the corner though, I see good things for Grand Rapids. We need to continue to foster the independent, entrepreneurial spirit that will allow this city to grow. Based on the State of the State last week I would say our current leadership in Lansing is looking to do just that. I sure as hell hope he and our representatives don't let us down.  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #24)

Gas Is Going Up..... Thanks Obama......

There are two primary reasons gas prices are increasing at the pump. The first and most likely biggest reason is speculators and fund managers checking out commodity markets as a whole. The second being our dollar is at the lowest level it's been since early last November. Combine the 2 and we're over 3 bucks at the pump. I don't buy the whole we're going to 5 dollar bs. The economy hasn't recovered enough globally to withstand such high prices. So the whole argument by speculators/funds that the price needs to go higher because the economy is recovering and demand will increase is flimsy and short-sighted. If energy costs increase too much it will cripple any sort of recovery we're trying to foster. That includes in China, where they're having a hard enough time feeding their people.  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #10)

GOP frosh: Where's my health care?

Seriously Bob? WTF? Defensive much? Again, I don't have to explain myself to any of you on here. Or how my pay scale or position in this company works. I am not doing anything I shouldn't be by being on here. And I'm most likely all ass? Wow. Tell everyone in your third grade class I said hi.  (Nov 19, 2010 | post #34)

GOP frosh: Where's my health care?

Well "weather " I like the statement or not, it is total bullshit. I don't work hourly-GASP! And I don't have to explain myself to you. I know it's difficult sometimes to have small minds wrap around the fact that not every employee in this great world doesn't have a cookie cutter position. Meaning they don't work from 8-5 Monday through Friday. And yes, when I shut my computer down at the end of the day I'm done. Why the hell do I need to turn it back on? So I can run to Topix, sit around with my thumb up my ass and bitch about what the other party is doing? Nope. I'm here when the markets are open and I'm not too busy. How about you? Or any of the other people on Topix? Bob especially, I thought he just started a new cooshy position where he makes 90k and they have 4-ply toilet paper. Glass houses folks.  (Nov 19, 2010 | post #31)

(YES!) GOP majority in House will push to end 'birthright...

Show me one poll showing Americans supported the bill that was being voted on. Of course Americans support health insurance reform. Something needs to be done in that arena. However the crap sandwich we were fed by our esteemed leaders in DC was not what the American people were looking for.  (Nov 18, 2010 | post #32)

Have the Terrorists Won?

I honestly don't know say what. I'm open for suggestions as well. I just don't know. I see all sides of this issue, and change my mind constantly on what I think should be done.....I know we need to be kept safe. But still can't help but think of how quickly things could take a turn for the worse and boil out of control... What happens if through all of this we're attacked via cargo? Or if there's an attack in a different venue? We can't stop them all that's for sure. We need to prevent as much as we can from happening though. That's why I brought this up for discussion. I know there's no one answer...but at the same time I still say we really have to be careful what we wish for.  (Nov 18, 2010 | post #61)
