Will Kyle Busch Miss The Chase

Actually no it does not. Every team out there is doing everything they can to make their cars better all the time and they all have the same number of races. The main thing they change between now and next season is how they drive.  (Sep 25, 2009 | post #211)

Juan Montoya Makes the Chase!!!

I think Juan's been a capable driver but that team's best achievement this season has been pacing themselves. In his old ride, I don't think they worried so much about building momentum. But in NASCAR, it seems like you build that with top 10s, those develop into NICE possible top 5s. Then when you're used to saving your machine instead of trying to take the lead and win or kill your car trying, you earn your front runner status. At that point, you've probably mastered the delicate art of nudging the car to the edge of its performance without overdriving it. If you noticed, the 88 team is famous for failing at this, and the 24's not far off from this same reputation. They've been hitting a sweet spot and then killing it somehow, either overdriving the car or over-tweaking a setup. Ya gotta nudge it... and then you get a more accurate understanding of how to sweeten it to perfection. Well it's either that or you can break into the Hendrick camp and steal Chad's notes. That team's not finished a season worse than 5th...  (Sep 21, 2009 | post #12)

Carl and his busted leg, though :( He's gonna have to bring his A-game. Kyle's quite capable of handling his part. LOL  (Sep 21, 2009 | post #13)

Will Kyle Busch Miss The Chase

Kyle Busch wont miss the chase... nobody will. It takes place right there on the track where they race... they can see it happening all around them. It's not like its leaving or anything. lol  (Sep 21, 2009 | post #209)

Skinner gets disputed NASCAR truck win

That 33 did the unquestionably stupid. This is the same racing techniques we've seen played out everytime a short track pass is attempted. If you're leading and u see a nose peak out, down low, you better be absolutely sure you're clear if you try to block, and even then, you hold on and pray you don't get much impact. You go to the low line just hoping that guy lifts, you risk spinning yourself. This is from a huge Gordon fan who's seen a 24 spin himself, I blamed Gordon - who was indeed in the wrong. Nose underneath ya, you give the room or wreck your car. Basic concept, just obey the rule.  (Sep 14, 2009 | post #5)

Johnson viewed as favorite among NASCAR'S Chasers

I'd have to say Hamlin needs an attitude adjustment. He has the same jackass attitude Kyle had thinking he couldn't be stopped. My favorite example of how unlikely things can get - the 24 team, 2007 season. One look at his record by itself and you know there's no possible way you can outperform 21 top 5 finishes, unless you have 20 top 5s and a few more wins. Very unlikely, but not impossible. If the 48 doesn't look like the team to beat, please remember they've never finished a season lower than 5th since his rookie season. That's 5th, 2nd, 2nd, 5th, 1st, 1st, 1st. And going into the chase 3rd, tied for 2nd in wins. Martin with comparible cars to Johnson- he's proved remarkably strong with those poles, and those get the sweet pit box. They've won more times but also slipped more often. If luck flies right with Martin, it'll probably be a Hendrick car in the top 4 spots, including Stewart.  (Sep 13, 2009 | post #5)

Weasel boy Kyle out of the chase!

Hey, I didn't like the 2008 season Kyle Busch myself, and in fact I hated that he wasn't performing as well as the other Hendrick cars back in the day. However, it's been said that he had public relations practice to give better interviews and if he comes back next season with the attitude he had after that last race, he'll start to believe. That positive vibe may be the different between accepting their weaknesses at certain tracks and finding what they're missing.  (Sep 13, 2009 | post #32)

That was a good interview and he was dead on with his statements. However, I don't think he's better than last year by much. He had it easy, winning, keeping the state of mind of a dominant winner. But when his bubble was burst, he found out what its like to have low morale. Its how he comes back from hard times that make him a champion caliber driver. I will say he's 10 times better now, because he's learned to mature by having to accept that good cars and good driving do not make you a champion. It takes teams to win races and to recover from losses, both strategically and emotionally. When something bad happens, its championship teams that don't panic; They go into recovery mode and bounce back to take everything that's left for them to get and not lose any more. Look how the 83 car bounced back from a rare incident like losing an axle! That was championship team caliber execution there. As for the 12 'teams' in the chase, they won't put much focus on anything outside of the other chase drivers. It's the here and now they better be focused on. They have the off season to evaluate threats for the next season. If Kyle is really strong, its nothing new. They've seen what the 18 team looks like when they're on their game but they've also seen that team slip into a downward spiral of awful performances. If the 18 team is good and stable next season, they may be contenders, but remember the 24 team of 2007, with one of the best seasons in history, it wasn't enough. The 99 team's final races of 2008 - elite performance, wasn't enough. Fact is, it takes excellent teamwork, excellent driving, avoiding bad luck, and slip-ups with bad recoveries by everyone else - that seems to be what gets the win.  (Sep 13, 2009 | post #5)

Juan Montoya Makes the Chase!!!

I dunno, buddy. Is there any room left for prejudice these days? Ya never hear it, it would kill'en publically. They have sponsors and fans probably from all walks of life so I think they've come to accept people for who they are. That said, I think they really love the idea of having some different nations represented. I love having Juan and Marcos out there. I think they're more accepting of these experienced older drivers than they are of a brand new kid on the block. However, you really cant help but love that new kid.  (Sep 13, 2009 | post #3)

No haste from Hendrick as Earnhardt eyes improved '09

whoa. Nobody really needs your high-and-mighty bullcrap, okay? We all get it - you think your sh*t don't stink. You're no better than anyone else, with your gospel preaching 'bible is my rulebook' nonsense. It's obvious you got your head up SOMEbody's ass so I think I'll just let you sit and massage this into your thick ass head. Maybe make some sense of it. Your typing like this is fckin GAY I dont know what makes you think spitting bits and pieces does for you. It makes you look dumbass-retarded. My opinon.  (Nov 25, 2008 | post #101)

Of course, but nobody needs to speculate on what happened before since she can confirm or deny anything she wants. Besides, who cares? Its none of our business and nobody's place to cast judgement. The dude drives an 88 car on raceday and his performance on track is all I care about.  (Nov 25, 2008 | post #94)
