Career fair draws job seekers to Industry Hills Expo Center

West Covina resident Rommel Narvasa was in attendance looking for warehouse management positions, but said he was having little luck at the fair. Currently unemployed, he said he's been on the job hunt for two months. He said he keeps running into the same problem: he's not bilingual. I just love this one. WHY does this guy have to be bilingual, why not make the people who came to this country learn English and be bilingual. Once again we have to conform to there standards in order to survive in this Country.  (Apr 17, 2008 | post #1)

Higher food prices plague consumers

Warning People is all there doing telling us that no matter what were going to pay through the rear. Just as gas prices were predicted to hit 4.00 a gallon and managed to do so just because some one said so, our food will do the same. As the old adage goes the Rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Hold on people we have not seen anything yet.  (Apr 17, 2008 | post #1)

Catering truck owners vow fight

Thank you Gloria Molina and other counsel members for taking action on this issue. A catering truck was and has always been something that you see while your at work in a factory or warehouse when the lunch bell rings. You go purchase your lunch and when lunch is over the catering truck moved to the next location. Today they think that can just setup shop any place and stay there for hours at at time. They say were just trying to make a living well then go hit the factories & warehouses where there are people working who need to eat lunch. Now we have the issue of catering trailers as well or what they call TACO STANDS these people pull up in front of closed stores, setup tables and lights with chairs and run a Restaurant from there trailer. If you wanted a Restaurant then do like the other Restaurant owners have done OPEN ONE  (Apr 16, 2008 | post #1)

Where to put sex offenders?

Thank you. As a registered sex offender who was caught having sex in a park late night when a lady passed and was offended, the police come to my house at least 2-3 times a year to verify where I live. I register as required I do everything as ordered by the court. But yet there are some very dangerous people out there who they never visit??? Now please tell me why I should have to go live in the Desert? I am not a threat to anyone I was just someone who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.  (Apr 15, 2008 | post #36)

Trustee unhappy over use of name

Q1 - This is not in our area but there are schools out there that have two principals. Q2 - YES, I attended the school, my kids attended the school and now my grand children attend the school so yes I do know allot about the school. I know they just recently spent a large amount of money adding A/C to the class rooms when there were much larger issues that needed to be addressed so ow they want a new grant that will add even more to my already over taxed property tax.  (Apr 14, 2008 | post #4)

Where to put sex offenders?

I think you answered your own questions. If a woman flashes or a man moons there both sex offenses so is peeing in public even if you feel your secluded. What the law makers need to do is categorize sex offenses not just lump them all in to one big pot like it is now. Do you know that for doing something real stupid as a youngster and got caught you spend the rest of your life as a sex offender, but a murderer or a drug dealer can do this and keep getting away with it maybe that to should have to register and get moved from place to place. Maybe just maybe people should stop judging others and just let God do the judging.  (Apr 13, 2008 | post #4)

Owners of lunch trucks blast parking time limit

The issue is all the trucks that decide to park there truck and sell food for hours at one location not those vendors who are going to a business to sell food to the workers. If your doing catering truck business then do it as it was designed to go place to place not park in a lot and sit there with the lights on and strobes running.  (Apr 9, 2008 | post #1)

Gas prices expected to peak in June

"Today, gas prices slipped slightly to a national average of $3.331 a gallon from Monday's record of $3.339, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. Prices are 55 cents higher than a year ago" I would love to only pay 3.331 per gallon. Just yesterday I paid $3.59 per gallon and today it is up to 3.75. where -o- where is the gas for only 3.331??? I do not believe that the price of oil has risen that much again over night. How much more can we possibly bare, I already can not afford to drive to work since it cost me nearly as much in gas as I make a week. I tried transit but it takes me over 3 hours and I have to walk over 2 miles from my bus stop. When will this end? I'm going bankrupt.  (Apr 8, 2008 | post #1)

Trustee unhappy over use of name

Here we go again with measures being put on a ballot that effects HOME OWNERS PROPERTY TAX and everyone including RENTERS get to say yes or no. This type of bill should be voted by a property owner ONLY. Any bill that effects our property tax needs to be voted by the owners and not RENTERS or their kids or who ever. They say it will only be about 4 dollars a month but what there not telling us is that is $4 a month per 100,000 on top of all the other bonds that were already paying for. Quit the high overhead like having two principals at a school and extreme high paid Superintendents. Take the money you were already given the last time you received a bond for the Los Nietos School District and us it. The schools should have had the pipes replaced first rather then adding Air Conditioners.  (Apr 7, 2008 | post #1)
