John Bryant becomes the new Estes Park Elementary principal

Yea, even I a non Catholic and not even very churchy (which has NOTHING to do with God) try to have respect for other peoples beliefs. And when I read that I had to let out a groan. Does this brochure not have an editor who proofreads things ? It is not that big a job! I could proof read everything published for the last quarter over coffee in an afternoon and still have time to make happy hour! lol I guess the scariest answer would be yes it does have an editor that does his or her version of a proof read. Editor, the buck stops at your desk. Have you relinquished control of your product?  (Mar 16, 2013 | post #3)

Republicans achieve success

Reverse Racism?!? There is no such thing as "reverse " racism. "There could be claims of racism in many of Obama's own statements from the past"  (Mar 11, 2013 | post #8)

Pot businesses in Colorado cannot bank and no solution is...

We will make it through. Until then just get a "Red Card" and have one of the local growers (and theres a handful of good growers here in Estes) deliver it right to your door. We went through this in the thirties. Just stay papered up for now. Or grow a little plant yourself. It might take a few tries but you'll get it.  (Mar 10, 2013 | post #2)

Republicans achieve success

"Hate to wish life away but can't wait until 2016 when this clown will go back to being a yard ornament." The only hope for the Republicans would be put Chris Christie up against Hilary. If you try to put another Bush against her Americans will drop into a fetal position with flashbacks of why America RAN to the polls to tell the Republicans to take their crap and get out in the first place. Christie is the ONLY one you have to get some crossover votes.  (Mar 10, 2013 | post #4)

The other side of the coin

I've washed the windows, adjusted the rear view mirror, polished the bumpers, gave it a wax job, raised the visor, put on new seat covers and built a new car port....I don't understand why people say I haven't done anything to make this car go faster?!?  (Mar 10, 2013 | post #1)

Crossroads helps hurting Estes Park families

I heard a story kinda like this. There was this guy who worked hard all his life. He paid his tax's, served in the military and still had the forethought and dedication on his salary to save enough money to buy his-self an new Escalade and an iPhone. He was an honorable man, when his brother in arms stepped on an IED and blew his legs off, he never forgot the promise he made to him through the blood curdling screams as he bled out and died to look after his wife and kids. After a sweat drenched nightmare due to his PTSD woke him up he decided it was time to look in on his brothers family only to discover that without father and husband the family was having a very hard time making ends meet. He remembered this place called Crossroads where he sometimes donated old clothes and canned goods and decided it was the short answer to the hard hit families problems. He loaded up the grateful family and drove them there to maybe pick up a loaf of bread and a carton of milk to get them through the hard times. As this family went inside he stayed outside to enjoy the beauty of the country that he had fought so valiantly to keep free. While standing there, up rolled a car full of waddling clan members on their weekly freebie grab. Standing by the truck he had worked so hard to buy he was taken aback by the complaining and whining of the clan member about how Crossroads was helping the nonwhite family. He decided to text his platoon leader that he had always kept in touch with to calm him down. It worked, his platoon leader reminded him that he fought for the freedom of this racist jackass just as much as he fought for everyone else and when the family came back outside with the meager sack of groceries he calmly loaded them up and drove them home. Hmm.  (Mar 5, 2013 | post #12)

Estes Park school enrollment is down over the past decade...

So you think that we have a ten year decline in our next generation because someone received a bigger bonus than you think they should have receivedÂ….hmm, you might be right of course but I think it might have more to do with when young parents said they need to feed their families for more than four months out of the year, when they pointed out that there is no opportunity for advancement higher than head bartender at the local cirrhosisatorium, when they complained that there is no advanced training here that would help their teenage children in the big bad world, the only response they received was a snotty "well if you don't like it here just LEAVE"Â….so they did.  (Feb 26, 2013 | post #4)

No title

Actually it is an early realization that the Trail Gazette is not so much a newspaper but more a "Visit Estes Park" brochure. The word news in the title should absolutely have parenthesis. Going out and "getting the story" is not only not the focus but is to the point of being frowned upon. Underground internet radio anyone?  (Feb 25, 2013 | post #3)

Well, ya got me. You are obviously a thinker of deep thoughts. I have no coherent response to the "Nya, Nya, Nya, I know I am but your a doodoo head" position. I bow, nay genuflect, to your most potent grey matter.  (Feb 21, 2013 | post #11)
