Autumn Johnson at the PATCH needs to LEAVE!!!!!!!!!

The caliber of journalism has definitely declined considerably since Kris Noceda's role changed sometime last year. I no longer rely on it for my community news. It's sad but true.  (May 16, 2013 | post #13)

Dairy Queen Closing!!! 😞

If you knew our family, you'd know that a 6 mile bike ride with three lively children warrants a $2 ice cream cone. It's not that big of a deal and honestly, the service has always been good there and I hate to see any business, national chain or otherwise, go bust. Thanks for the suggestion on additional family activities, I will be sure to reach out to you for more ideas when I need them although we tend to like the outdoors much better than sitting in the kitchen.  (May 14, 2013 | post #5)

Dairy Queen Closing!!! 😞

Why? Do we know this for sure?! We have family bike rides, sometimes, just to go there. This is so unfortunate.  (May 13, 2013 | post #2)

Do you ever read your kid's f acebook?

I think you may be misunderstanding me - my point is that I do not have an issue with my teen (our two other children are not on social media yet) because 1) I do monitor what's there and 2) have regular dialogue about what's appropriate or not. I'm open about how often I monitor (and no, it's not every day) and he knows he has an opportunity to express himself as an individual. He has earned the trust that he receives and therefore, appreciates it. I should also mention that he is nowhere near perfect nor do we expect him to be.  (Apr 30, 2013 | post #17)

Ssophiiee: You will understand it better when you have children. The bottom line is that children are faced with temptation every single day, even the child with the best upbringing will make mistakes, remember that their brains are not fully developed. I would rather my child resent me for an occasion log in to check his social media, then the repercussions of a life altering mistake. Food for thought.  (Apr 30, 2013 | post #15)

Agreed. Part of our agreement with our oldest son (the only one on social media so far) is that he have us as 'friends' (FB, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and we have his password for "random" login checks. It doesn't always keep him from posting something less than appropriate but I believe it does help. I would never judge another family but it is definitely shocking to see what children post: profanity, racist, sexist, and even hurtful, political inspired messages are very common. My work experience is in a technology field so I do believe social media is a bit of a necessary evil in this day and age - I choose to monitor so I can educate, rather than banning it altogether and then having them figure it out the hard way, on their own, as adults.  (Apr 29, 2013 | post #2)

Livermore teacher accused of sex with student pleads no c...

Wondering where all the people are that in the beginning said: "She was a great teacher." "I don't believe she did this." "That kid must be lying." "Ms J could never do something like that." - I'm guessing they jumped off the bandwagon and into a harsh reality that she is an adulterer, child predator, and will soon be a convicted felon."  (Apr 18, 2013 | post #1)

Smokers outside of Panama Red...

As coincidence would have it, this afternoon was the first time I stopped in at Panama Red (great service, will definitely stop in more often). I didn't see anyone smoking close to the coffee shop itself, just the large group of guys sitting on the benches across the street. I don't smoke, don't particularly enjoy the smell BUT so long as smokers are respectful of us, as you seem to be, there should be no problem. For whatever it's worth, I don't think there is ever an excuse to approach someone in a disrespectful manner or throw verbal jabs as they walk by. It's unproductive and tacky.  (Apr 3, 2013 | post #2)

'Hummer Mom' Sex Offender Arrested on Parole Violation

Some people should really find better things to do with their time instead of picking online fights with strangers. Meanwhile, Christine Hubbs (the real issue here), was released from her parole violation and is roaming the streets in our community.  (Mar 10, 2013 | post #70)

'Hummer Mom' Sex Offender Arrested on Parole Violation

You really should find other things to do with your time, (1100+ comments using an anonymous platform is rather sad) instead of worrying about which specific child was taken advantage of by an unstable 40 year old woman. You may think you're clever and smarter than everyone (and maybe you are) but you come across as ignorant, hateful, and very unhappy. Now if I can just figure out how to stop receiving residual and idiotic messages on a topic...  (Mar 5, 2013 | post #57)

'Hummer Mom' Sex Offender Arrested on Parole Violation

Whether they "bragged " or not is irrelevant. They were victimized by a 40 year old woman who, at this point, has confirmed her sickness, lack of moral compass, and inability to raise her own children right. People need to understand that just because a teenage boy can physically participate in sexual acts with an adult, does not make it right. It's illegal and immoral. And lastly, if it were YOUR child, you wouldn't want anyone repeating their name, or judging them. Maybe it's time for all of us to teach our young people a lesson in compassion and humanity.  (Feb 26, 2013 | post #44)

'Hummer Mom' Sex Offender Arrested on Parole Violation

No disrespect intended to anyone that has a different opinion but posting the name of a MINOR involved in a crime, is not only disrespectful but illegal, even if it's a "mind fart." What about the violation to his privacy when people can easily search by his first name online, see his picture perhaps approach him in person (not you of course but there are demented people out there). I find it interesting that no one seems to have a slip up to mention both of the Hubbs daughters names. The oldest led the pack by making criminal allegations and giving the victim's full name on Twitter and the younger one jumped right on it along with many of their equally ignorant friends to attack victim #1. It's not my intention to bash these girls but people (that seem to be very interested) need to understand how things really happened. They raised accusations via social media only hours after their mother was arrested on a parole violation. The victims AND daughters are getting dragged through the mud as a result of one person and one person only and that's Christine Hubbs.  (Feb 24, 2013 | post #33)
