So glad he died

I have reported these posts to Topix - so far they haven't done anything, but if I don't hear from them soon, I'll contact them again. If ever there were posts that should be deleted, it's these. I will not let it rest until they respond.  (Nov 3, 2014 | post #16)

Everything in the bio is not quite accurate. This was one. I already told you, Garner didn't dictate this. Jon Winokur was a friend of Jim's, but he had a great deal of information to put together and transcribe. There ARE errors, as is common in books like this. Actually, I think there were some corrections in later editions, but I haven't seen them.  (Sep 3, 2014 | post #6)

Well, Mr. KnowItAll, since you have proved what a cowardly hypocrite you are by not checking out the links I gave you, I'll finish my story. You seem to think all the quotes used in Jim's memoirs are new, spoken for that book. Hardly. Many were from the research by Jon Winokur who actually did the writing. The quotes you're getting your shorts in a knot about were all from the 1960s - I know because I remember them - except the latest about Reagan during his presidency. At least I assume he was alive at the time. So were all the others - and, if you had READ the book - you would find that Jim had more than ample reasons for his bit of criticism. But, I guess you'd rather believe the worst instead of find out that you have misinterpreted it all. Besides, what you said about Jim - after he actually WAS dead - is unspeakably worse than anything Jim ever said about anyone in his life. You nothing about this kind, generous and caring person, and you don't care. You don't even give a damn if his daughter sees it. Do you always get your jollies by posting horrific things when you have know idea when, where or why a situation came about? You are a craven hypocrite and if you live to be 100 years old you'll never be half the man James Garner was. I promise.  (Sep 2, 2014 | post #12)

NO, he had ONE stroke and that was in 2008. He recovered completely. He also stopped smoking in the 1990s - don't remember that exact year. He had been systemically cutting down, completely stopped smoking in public or on the air. Then he stopped completely. As I said, you know absolutely nothing about Jim Garner  (Sep 2, 2014 | post #4)

The one stroke he had was about 4 years ago, and no, he recovered completely. Where did you get the idea he was blinded or even HAD a second stroke? You just cannot believe everything you read or see on the internet.  (Sep 2, 2014 | post #11)

It doesn't matter to me what you think. Just what you post. Jim was in many movies - which people are now purchasing on DVD. They are also purchasing complete sets of both Rockford Files and Maverick. He was beloved by three generations and had a career that lasted for 60 years. YOUR opinion is your own and you're welcome to it. You have just proved what I posted earlier - you know nothing about this man, yet you posted comments that he would never have said about anyone. In fact, I've never seen anything like what you have posted. You have NO right to criticize after the inexcusable posts you have made. You must be a child - no matter how old you are. You need to grow up - and soon. More you should read - if you have the decency and the guts: http://www.cbsnews .com/news/james-ga rner-stars-mourn-l oss-of-hollywood-i con/ As I'm sure you don't know, Steve McQueen was a difficult person to get along with, but over the years Jim never gave up on being his friend. In his book - which you would know if you'd actually READ it - he said, "Steve wasn't a bad guy. He was just a big kid." Jim's daughter, Gigi, has frequented this Forum, and I just hope to God I can get your crap removed before she can see it. She was totally devoted to her father and has just lost him. But, you don't think of things like that. Talk about saying terrible things - there is a huge difference between a few words of criticism and saying truly TERRIBLE things such as you're glad a person you did NOT know - who was beloved by all those who DID - has died! Never seen anything like this anywhere. I hope you gain some sensitivity and common decency when you grow up. And try actually READING The Garner Files.  (Sep 2, 2014 | post #9)

Sorry about the double post, folks, but maybe it should be posted twice so the SOB who had the lack of regard Jim Garner's family, friends and fans will possibly see it.  (Aug 30, 2014 | post #5)

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you and your Mom that Jim Garner passed away on July 19 of an acute myocardial infarction - heart attack. However, he was really in reasonably good health except to the constant pain of arthritis in almost every joint in his body. The tabloids were always writing stuff like that - did it for years. He was my favorite for almost all my life. He will be greatly missed by so many.  (Aug 30, 2014 | post #2)

To everyone who is concerned about Jim's health! He is just fine. He recovered completely from his stroke some time ago. There were no permanent aftereffects at all. His real problem is arthritis after all the injuries he has had during his life - football, Korea, Rockford Files... If you have arthritis, you know how that can slow you down! For all of you who love Jim Garner his daughter, Gigi, has a tribute blog for him at http://mavrock1.tu mblr.com/ Facebook Fan Page: https://www.facebo ok.com/pages/The-O fficial-James-Garn er-Fan-Page/ Garnerphiles Group: https://www.facebo ok.com/groups/3298 15987067200/ Ahem.. Horse Slaughter

Here's the link to the video I mentioned. This by the way, is a state-of-the-art plant in Quebec designed by Temple Grandin - who admits there is no way to humanely slaughter horses. Horse Slaughter

First ~ No cattle do not scream. They are not panic-prone creatures of flight like horses. Cattle have been bred to be docile, and they will stand quietly in the head restraints long enough for a competent - notice I said COMPETENT - person to put the captive-bolt pistol against their forehead and pull the trigger. Since the captive-bolt was designed for cattle, it works if used properly. Not so for horses. If they cannot run, they immediately panic, raising their long, upright, flexible necks - cattle have short, inflexible, horizontal necks so are incapable of this - and flinging their heads about wildly, making the proper, legal use of a captive-bolt pistol impossible. Horses are normally shot many more times than the mandatory ONE SHOT and mandatory head restraints cannot be used on horses either. In this verified video, you can see a horses shot ELEVEN times and still possibly not completely stunned. Many horses are still conscious when they are strung up and eviscerated. This is WELL documented. More: Captive bolt study: http://www.box.net /shared/3jbna7fyga Moreover, US horses are unregulated, non-food animals. Therefore, horse medications and other widely used products contain substances that are absolutely banned from ANY use AT ANY TIME in food-animals. We have NO way of tracking whether a given horse has been exposed to banned substances or to remove these horses from the human food chain. Some of these substances are very dangerous for humans to eat - especially children. A scream from a horse is TOTALLY different from a whinny. Most people have never heard a horse scream because a horse must be in very dire straits before they will scream. I've owned horses for 35 years, and the only time I ever heard one scream was when I was at one of the horse slaughter plants that were in Texas - Dallas Crown in Kaufman. I lived in Dallas - 30 miles away - and was helping friends who's horses had been stolen. I suggest that anyone who is pro-horse slaughter visit a horse slaughter plant while it's open and running. You will hear horses screaming. And you will see what is being referred to as "humane processing" - by those who have never seen it, or are so greedy they don't give a rip. It is cruel beyond belief, and horse screams are something you will NEVER forget.  (Jun 7, 2012 | post #9)
