Why would the CDC research gun violence?

Shouldn't that research be done by the DOJ/FBI?  (Jan 16, 2013 | post #1)

How to find the product of a chemical reaction given the ...

I'd like a detailed explanation, please. I know enough about ionic and covalent bonding. I can figure out how to make atoms "happy". Octet rule: with a few exceptions, each atom needs 8 electrons to be "happy". For an ionic bond, it's simple. I just look at an ion chart to determine how many electrons are in the cation and anion, and I find the LCM of the charges. I use this to figure out how to make it so that there are an equal amount of electrons in each atom. For a covalent bond, it's not quite as simple, although the octet rule still applies. You just need to keep increasing the number of molecules and/or atoms until the total electron count is what it should be.  (Jan 16, 2013 | post #1)

Multiple covalent bond Lewis structures

Why are some electron dots drawn in a corner of the element symbol, away from the bond lines? The Glencoe science books do not do a very good job of explaining everything that could be taught in a high school science class. Unfortunately, this is one of those things.  (Nov 13, 2012 | post #1)
