It means if your organization receives any federal funds, you may not do any lobbying on behalf of the organization nor endorse any particular candidate as a representative of said organization. You may do so on a personal level but the two may not cross lines. (Dec 25, 2011 | post #2)
Ok we got the horse at Longpole today. I have to have fosters before we go. I had three state troopers with me today who were wonderful. The horse is in a foster home, clean dry stall and good hay. will try to work on the others. I can't promise anything, I'm one person and I have to have people willing to foster. If anyone would like to donte to helping the horses, donations can be made to the McDowell County Humane Society, but you must put on the donation it is FOR HORSES. (Dec 22, 2011 | post #13)
Sorry I don't get on here much or that email very often any more. I answered on the other thread. (Dec 7, 2011 | post #13)
I have been unable to get anyone to act. I'm still trying. I have a call into them right now, going to check back again tomorrow. If I can't get a response, I have someone else I'm going to try and get involved. (Dec 7, 2011 | post #4)
I wouldn't say that but what is the situation? Send me a private message. (Nov 25, 2011 | post #2)
Actually "Pet Rescue" there are very very few grants available for operating expenses in relation to animal shelters. Paid employees, two part time employees making min wage...WOW. What do you expect, there are not enough volunteers to do the work and I'm most certain your lazy butt is not there helping the animals. So what if the county should give the shelter some money to help with expenses...the shelter is doing the county a service. The county gave the shelter no money when they took in the 19 sick dogs from the county pound. Some people need to either put up or shut up. (Nov 21, 2011 | post #274)
YEs, though evidently not much of an owner IMO. However, if the landfill were to send a certified letter to the alleged owner to come get the pony in x number of days....and alleged owner did not, then the pony could be considered to be abandoned and the landfill would be in it's right to give it to someone who would give the pony a good home. Sharon Sagety is above board. The county is not responsible for auditing their books, but they would have to have an independent auditor prepare their 990s, etc. They do have volunteers, and occassionally the school clubs will do food drives etc. (Nov 16, 2011 | post #40)
The pony has been hanging out at the landfill for awhile and the person has been warned. Since it is private property, the landfill will have to file another complaint. (Nov 16, 2011 | post #39)
No they do not, but you know what, they provide a service which the county is supposed to do. So what if the county were to give them a grant now and then. They give grants to other organizations in the county. The Humane Society took in 19 sick dogs at one time that the county was responsible for. There are grants which they can apply for and donations. I'd say that the ladies also pay for a lot of things themselves. Now my question to you is, what are you doing to help? They charge a local adoption fee, as does every other shelter, but the animals that are transported out, they do not get a fee for. (Nov 16, 2011 | post #38)
The pound was at Marytown and yes the dog warden was responsible. the county last year spent 15,000.00 on a gas chamber which was made illegal the next month in the state of WV. The only approved form of euthanasia is by injection. (Nov 16, 2011 | post #37)
