LA TIMES: Montebello fiscal crisis: Fiscal mess fuels cri...

So Mayor Barajas and his crony Alberto Perez go into hiding, leaving others to face the music. Wednesday's meeting should be interesting. Molinari has a lot to answer for. He's been there the longest and if he didn't know about these accounts, he sure should have. The others should be ashamed of themselves for following Molinari right over the cliff. They kept Tam around so he could keep covering up the financial lies, spent money on foolish "redevelopmen t" projects, got us into lots of lawsuits, and illegally moved money from redevelopment that they knew could never be paid back. The jokes on us citizens.  (Feb 19, 2011 | post #1)

Car dealership to stage grand opening, secures business l...

What a Bass Akwards City we have. One of the largest sales tax generators in Montebello and the city holds up their business license. How? Why? Molinari want's to punish Ara Sevacherian because he was smart enough to take advantage of stupid city council members. 1. Sevacherian subleases property to this new guy. Molinari doesn't want Sevacherian to make money on the deal, so he tells Huntley and Glassman to hold up the business license (for no legitimate reaoson). 2. Molinari, Barajas and Gomez hire yet another attorney (we now have 8 attorneys at over $500/hr) to "review" the city's purchase of the Ostrom property. What do you think will come from that? NOTHING. Haven't you heard of caveat emptor Mayor Molinari? 3. While Molinari was on the council, the City a) gave a loan to Sevacherian to build a brand new dealership b) the city bought the dealership property at an inflated price that included "forgiving " the loan. c) Had the business gone under, the city could have foreclosed on the property and gotten it for free. d) in another deal, Sevacherian leases the property from the city for pennys on the dollar in a deal that lets him sublease the property for more money. e) since the city is bankrupt, the city is having problems making its payments to Sevacherian who can foreclose on the property and get it back for nothing. How stupid is Molinari, Barajas, and Gomez.  (Aug 17, 2010 | post #2)

Former police chief provided investigative services to city

Investigations? Since when does the City have the right to conduct "confidential investigations " into private citizens. There are NO DOCUMENTS to back up the claims that it was for new employees, and what new employees? The city is laying off people. No one has been hired except Rulon. It all sounds fishy to me. It sounds like certain council members and Narramore were conducting investigations into their enemies. Richard Nixon rises from the dead!  (Aug 10, 2010 | post #2)

Former interim administrator gets severance payment after...

Trash Talk is all Trash and one of Molinari's cult members. How dare you say the council was disrespectful of Narramore. Narramore is an employee. The ordinance is set by the Council. ONLY the council is elected and is accountable to us. No one elected Narramore. They gave him a contract, and he's supposed to implement their directives not do what he wants with no accountability to anyone. That's the same thing we've had for 20 years. Now the truth is coming out. Narramore is a crook. He's taking retirement and is getting $15,000 more from the city. The L A Times is finally poking into the state retirement problem. These overpaid city administrators continue to rob us blind through their retirement. That's Narramore. When  (Jul 30, 2010 | post #5)

Former interim administrator gets severance payment after...

Barajas is a fool: "It all kind of happened so fast, we just didn't want - on either end - anyone to be unhappy with anyone, and that's why we made the separation agreement," said Councilman Art Barajas. "But when it's all said and done he did us well and we wish him all the best." We elect this idiot to represent us and the best he can say is he want's everyone to be happy. What a joke he is. WE WANT OUR TAX DOLLARS TO BE SPENT WISELY. Not keep overpaid staff happy. So Narramore walks out on us and makes a quick $30K for doing nothing. If he was so great as bozo-Barajas seems to think, why did they oppose his police chief choice. The whole thing stinks like Bell. Bring on Jerry Brown and Steve Cooley!  (Jul 30, 2010 | post #1)

Montebello council accepts former interim administrators ...

It's about time. Larry Salazar was lying all over town that Narramore was fired. He even made comments at today's meeting that Narramore shouldn't be fired. I guess Larry was stretching the truth a bit. Seems he didn't know his friend Narramore submitted a letter of resignation. Thant makes it pretty clear he wasn't fired. Doh.  (Jul 20, 2010 | post #2)

Montebello officers file claim over alleged enforcement q...

Is this the pot calling the kettle black. Since you blindly support the very same things done by 42 yr Resident. Roboblogger is the system's automatic generator for news items. It goes out on the internet and pulls in news items that have key words. But since you and ytw are such know-it-alls, I guess I'm just making that up. So you accuse me of libelous statements. Expressing opinions about elected and APPOINTED officials is not libelous. It's called the 1st Amendment and it is our right and responsibility to do so. I don't ridicule your viewpoints, but you must know better. Defend Molinari and Narramore all you want. It doesn't change the fact that HUD audited the city and is now conducting a criminal investigation as was announced at the council meeting and in the articles. The only way the public was made aware of this FACT was because of the Whittier Daily News articles you so quickly dismissed. As far as I can tell, no one here ever provides links to anything. But I do it once and you jump down my throat. Be naive all you want. If it takes bricks to fall on your head to see what is obvious to many, that's your issue. Don't attack the messenger who tells you what you don't want to know or what doesn't fit your viewpoint. If you have at least a slight open mind, you should think about what I'm saying instead of dismissing it because you don't like me. You have to admit there are serious problems in Montebello and that Narramore and Molinari have been running the city since DecemberSo and playing games rather than fixing whats wrong. After 8 months hey are to blame, period. If it don't work fix it is all I'n trying to point out.  (Jul 19, 2010 | post #42)

Those of you who don't live in Montebello need to stay out of this conversation. First, quotas are against the law (no matter what side you take) and are forbidden under State California Law. Second, it was Randy Narramore who started these quotas to raise money for a bankrupt city.(see this Topix post: http://www.topix.c om/forum/city/mont ebello-ca/TS4ND4OJ AUKE65RNI) Third, Montebello supports its police officers and wants them on the streets fighting the gang problem, not writing nuisance tickets (see http://www.topix.c om/city/montebello -ca/2010/06/author ities-investigatin g-different-angles -after-three-days- of-violence) Fourth, Narramore was screwing up our city. He didn't live here, did only what Molinari wanted, and was hiring his friends to important posts (see http://www.topix.c om/city/montebello -ca/2010/07/new-mo ntebello-police-ch ief-selected) Fifth, Narramore was part of a conspiracy to cover up the misuse of federal money (see http://www.topix.c om/city/montebello -ca/2010/07/new-mo ntebello-police-ch ief-selected) So get a clue before you make comments that are dead wrong. http://www.topix.c om/city/montebello -ca/2010/07/molina ri-0-people-1-narr amore-quits-job-wa lks-out-on-meeting )  (Jul 19, 2010 | post #36)

Montebello meeting gets heated - police chief and interim...

Did you see the performance of Larry Salazar last night? He's got to be the dumbest guy ever. For years he would bash Molinari and spoke out against special interests and back room deals. But I guess it's easy for Larry to sell out his ideals when Molinari endorses him, raises campaign money from Attina for him, and lends him campaign workers and an office. Larry needs to pack it in. He looks like a fool defending Rulon who is no different than Weast. Larry spoke against Weast, but supports Rulon? What a difference a little Molinari support makes. Larry, you've ran and lost over 6 times including the recall when Molinari supported you. Get a clue. WE DON'T WANT LARRY THE LOSER. We don't want hypocrites in elected office.  (Jul 15, 2010 | post #6)

Montebello meeting gets heated - police chief and interim...

Narramore was always a bad egg ready to crack. Molinari was running Montebello like a Banana Republic with Hank Attina as the corporate boss, Narramore as the Generalisimo, and Glassman as the head of secret police. Finally the 4 newbies got it right and took action. It was common knowledge that Rulon was going to be the police chief since January 2010. Molinari met Rulon way back in Jan, and the whole selection process was a set up. How does a guy with pending lawsuits against him and his own lawsuit against his former city ever become the top pick? Uh, with a little help from his friends. So 4 council members who were excluded from the process, like they have been in everything, finally listened to the public and said NO. Narramore didn't like being told what to do by our elected officials (except Molinari it seems), and dared them to fire him. Narramore showed his true colors by storming out of the meeting in sight of everyone. He deserved an academy award for his performance and Molinari for director. So Narramore resigned, but tried to come back to work (I guess Molinari begged him to return). Too bad they told him to pack up and leave. Good riddance I say. We don't need a prima-dona or dictator in Montebello. We need real leadership and that's not Narramore or Molinari. Keep up the good work Perez, Cortez, Barajas and Gomez. We are watching.  (Jul 15, 2010 | post #4)

New Montebello police chief selected

What a crock of Molinari this is. Why is it that everyone knew Rulon was going to be the new police chief in February when Narramore introduced him to Molinari. The rumor that Rulon was Narramore's friend and was going to be made chief was all over town for months. This "selection process" that Narramore created is a scam. How does Narramore's friend from Huntington Park, who Molinari signs off on, miraculously becomes the top pick. Oh, don't forget that Narramore makes all the job appointments, not the council. Just another back room deal by Molinari who is responsible for Narramore coming into Montebello too. Recall Molinari and end his reign of terror.  (Jul 14, 2010 | post #7)

Bulk of redevelopment loan paid back, Montebello official...

TR, I know you are reasonable and informed, but put aside your "trust" in Molinari (because he supports your issue) for just a moment. Bill has been on the council for over 25 years: FACT Bill is knowledgeable (but biased) about the issues: FACT Bill is an elected official, serving 25 years: FACT Elected officials are the DIRECT representative of the people and have the legal responsibilities of that office and hold the trust of the people: FACT So, I say, and many others do too, that Bill had to know it was happening, and if he didn't, he should have, given his record and longevity. Either way, Molinari is RESPONSIBLE. He's the only one left from the previous council. And to make it worse for him, don't you think, given his "track record" as the "council watch dog" that he should be screaming at the top of his lungs that money was inappropriately or illegally moved without council authority or knowledge? Since Molinari is defending the staff on their illegal use of tax dollars, one must conclude that he knew about it and condoned it. If it quacks like a duck, guess what.  (Jul 10, 2010 | post #89)

Bulk of redevelopment loan paid back, Montebello official...

And a word about Molinari benefiting from this illegal financial transaction. It was Vasquez and Molinari who allowed this to happen during the 2009 election...letting Richard Torres falsely balance the city budget. Why? Because they were the incumbents running for reelection, and they didn't want anyone to know that they were responsible for the City's financial disaster. Had this transfer been done legally, that is publicly, it would have shown them BOTH as bankrupt of any ability to run our city. Probably the only time Molinari and Vasquez agreed to anything.  (Jul 10, 2010 | post #87)

Bulk of redevelopment loan paid back, Montebello official...

WRONG WRONG WRONG The City Attorney never said it was legally done, he said that transferring money was allowed by law. But you have to follow the legal guidelines. Moving money (about $9Million we're talking about) MUST have council approval, MUST have loan documents that show how the money is to be paid back, and MUST be done in public. None of that happened. Instead, the money was moved by STAFF, there was NO PLAN to pay it back (until it became public after it was done), and the transfers were NEVER on a public agenda. I don't know about you, but I am very concerned that staff on their own just transfered $9M in our tax dollars without accountability. The $9 Million Dollar Question: Why isn't everyone, including Molinari supporters, and Molinari, OUTRAGED AT THIS ABUSE OF POWER. Power taken by paid staff that rightfully belongs with only 5 elected officials?  (Jul 10, 2010 | post #86)
