Sixth annual Policeman's Ball honors fallen firefighters

ALBANY – Webster Lt. Michael Chiapperini, who was killed responding to a fire on Christmas Eve last year, will be among 16 police officers honored Wednesday at the annual New York State Police Officers Memorial ceremony. Chiapperini, 43, also a volunteer with the West Webster Fire Department in Monroe County, was killed when a gunman set his Webster home ablaze then fatally shot two first responders. Chiapperini’s name will be added to the black granite memorial in the Empire State Plaza that lists the names of 1,340 police officers who have died in the line of duty in New York. The 16 officers to be honored Wednesday include four who died in the line of duty in 2012, as well as six from Long Island and New York City who died from illnesses related to 9/11 terrorist attacks. Six historical deaths will be also be recognized, including Monroe County Deputy Sheriff James Conheady, who died in 1947. Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy, the former Rochester police chief, and State Police Superintendent Joseph D’Amico are expected to attend the ceremony. HA! Here you go all you haters! SUCK IT! I can’t wait till you need to call a cop or fire fighter to help your sorry butt!  (May 8, 2013 | post #33)

Sixth annual Policeman's Ball honors fallen firefighters

You’re too funny. Any police officer on or off duty, volunteering as a fire fighter or working as a bouncer on their off time, will most likely be honored for their services as a law enforcement officer. They also honored the other fire fighter as he too volunteered his spare time to help others. Now I don’t know what you do in your free time, but it would be nice to know if you do put your life on the line for people you have never met, that the people who share your understanding of why you do what you do will remember you and your family for giving only what these people give. Go ask a volunteer fire fighter, medic or law enforcement officer why they do what they do. You might just be surprised of the answers you get.  (May 7, 2013 | post #28)

Sixth annual Policeman's Ball honors fallen firefighters

One of the firefighters that day was a Lt. with the Webster Police Department. I do not think the Policeman’s Ball requires that the fallen officer has to die while on duty. Most likely they also honored the other fallen firefighter as that would be the right thing to do in this case.  (May 6, 2013 | post #19)

Two Rochester men charged with burglaries in Greece, Parm...

It looks like we need to raise their free welfare money. I’m sure they turned to a life of crime because the free money they get from the hard working taxpaying people of New York just isn’t enough for them to maintain their life style. It’s a good thing they don’t have to worry about cell phone bills, food bills or their RG&E bills.  (Apr 29, 2013 | post #5)

White Suburbans Caught stealing on tape again

Wow, you would think with that kid being shot and killed a few years back in the town of Greece, they would learn. Funny thing too, this lady has a bunch of video cameras on her house but she leaves her car unlocked? Sounds like she was baiting stupid people to rob her.  (Apr 23, 2013 | post #3)

Inner Loop closes for seasonal sweeping

Why spend the time and money? They are talking about filling it in anyways. Hell, let’s make it a land fill for the rest of the year and they top it with some dirt and build some apartments that the people that live in the city can’t afford.  (Apr 23, 2013 | post #10)

White guy had fantasies of killing people

This proves that if any person who is bound to hurt / kill others; they will find a way to do it. It has happened all over the world. Until we find a way to identify the people who are mentally ill and need to be separated from society, we will keep having these types of problems. Of course the way the world is going (Taxes, government, Healthcare and just the decay of society) it will only get worse before it gets better. I just hope the government doesn’t try to put limits on knives and other sharp tools.  (Apr 10, 2013 | post #3)

Shoplifter shot to death at Walmart by off duty cop

He didn’t shoot and kill her because she was shoplifting. He shot and killed her, because they tried to kill him with their car. They are the ones who made the first move trying to kill someone, he was just better at it them them  (Apr 8, 2013 | post #98)

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol NOT working on Borders

The Border Patrol has to follow up on people who do enter this country legally but stay longer than they are supposed to. They are the ones who track these people down. They do not turn it over to the local LE. They also look into complaints of groups of possible illegal workers. They can work anywhere in the country then need to. They also do not just stay on the waterline of the country. They patrol as far as the Thruway (On a normal basis) but can still go anywhere then need to, to enforce the law.  (Feb 27, 2013 | post #32)

Georgia man charged with transporting guns to Rochester

This is where to so called law makers should show their serious and nail everyone to the wall and give them all the time they can and enforce every dollar of every fine they can charge them with. My bet, we will only hear about this case when they go to court and then that will be the end.  (Feb 14, 2013 | post #2)

Should the City Start Plowing Sidewalks?

This has been suggested in the past. They won’t be able to afford to have these people do the work for many reasons. First they would be too concerned that their free money would be taken away or reduced if the show they can work. Second, who would buy them the shovels, coats, gloves, boots and anything else they can dream up that they will need to do this work? Third they would bicker over how much snow needs to fall before they would have to work? The list goes on and on.  (Feb 13, 2013 | post #7)

2 charged in slaying of Chicago honor student

Yes, but if there were tougher gun laws in Chicago, there would be less shootings and maybe the black on black crime would slow if not stop all together.  (Feb 12, 2013 | post #2)
