Does anyone know?

Yes, Butterfield was once a stop on the Butterfield Stage line, or so I was told back in the 1950's.  (Apr 17, 2008 | post #11)

Person of interest

Try a ZABA search. I pulled up several Claude Sneeds on ZABA, including one in Verona, and another Claude E. Sneed in Farmington N.M.  (Apr 17, 2008 | post #2)

Roman Catholic Church

The Blessed Virgin Mary

A Saint is anyone in Heaven. However to be recognized as a Saint requires stringent tests, including 2 miracles attributed to the person being considered for Sainthood. And these are not run of the mill miracles, like the guy who decided to go for a walk, even though he never took walks, and so he left his house and went for a walk and while he was gone his house blew up and was destroyed. That wouldn't be enough of a miracle. Now if he left his house completely blind, and came back with perfect sight THAT might be considered a miracle. Of course he would have had to show extensive prayer and devotion to the particular person who was being considered for Sainthood, and he would have to show extensive documentation from M.D.'s that he was incurably blind, and everything that could humanly be done, had been done, and he was still blind. It ain't easy to be declared a Catholic Saint. That's why praying to the Catholic Saints, for intersession, is so powerful--they are the REAL DEAL... they are right up there next to the Throne, so to speak.  (Mar 2, 2008 | post #2264)

Archdiocese defrocks priest accused of molestation over 2...

This pervert has been fired! But the term is "laicized ". The Church teaches that once a man becomes a Priest, an indelible sign is placed on his Soul. He will be, for all time, known as a Priest, and in this case, he will also, for all time, be known as a child-molester and a homosexual abuser. Such being are consigned to some of the lower portions of hell if they don't repent and do some serious penance and make amends. I don't even know what kind of penance would be appropriate for this guy... maybe to spend the next 500 years emptying bedpans in a terminal cancer ward--that might help his Soul a little bit, but in my opinion he is one of those who Jesus said needed a good millstone fastened around their necks. However millstones are getting kind of hard to find nowadays.  (Mar 2, 2008 | post #8)

McCain Seeks Distance From Pastor

Pastor Hagee is one of those prot. nut-cases that comes along every once in a while, who hate Catholicism because they are jealous of the One True Church. If Pastor Hagee hates Catholicism so much, then he hates Jesus too--for the Catholics were the only ones who carried Jesus' Cross for the first 1,500 years.  (Mar 2, 2008 | post #2)

Why did you leave the Catholic Church?

The Glory Hole was the term Founderies and Glass Blowing companies had, as far back as the early 1800's, for the round hole into the furnace. Get your mind out of the gutter PAD.  (Mar 2, 2008 | post #3)

In defense of Catholic teaching on homosexuality

Men become homosexual because of an overpowering mother and an absent father--that starts the boy to begin to identify himself with women instead of men. Then, if a homosexual predator happens across the boy, and assaults or seduces him, he will assume a feminine role, begin to identify himself as homosexual. The Church is 100% correct in their teaching that homosexual acts are despicable and absolutely should not be encouraged by society, AND that people who are same-sex addicted should be treated with compassion.  (Mar 2, 2008 | post #205)

What makes some Christians act so ugly toward others?

Maybe the Christian in question sees that you are doing things that are destructive to your Body & Soul. Perhaps their "acting so ugly" is only them trying to bring you to your senses. In the late 1970's I had a very, very good friend named Steven, who lived with a cute young woman named Maria. They were a fun couple, and brought liveliness and laughter to any gathering they were at. I moved out of State, and didn't see them for several years. But Steven visited me in the early 1980's and one evening during his visit told me he had become homosexual, and asked me if I wanted to have sex with him. I was completely shocked. I told him exactly what I felt, and I'm sure he took it as mean-spirited and condemning. That night I had a dream about him. All the people in my dream were in color except him--he was in black and white. And a voice in my dream spoke and said, "Steven has been screwing around with the wrong people." Two years later Steven was dead of Aids. True story. Had he listened to my "mean-spirite d diatribe" and changed his ways, he might be alive today.  (Feb 27, 2008 | post #267)

why do christains keep pagan holidays

Celebrating Christmas on Dec. 25th was a brilliant thing to do. It satisfies that human need to look forward to something as the days become dark and cold. Celebrating the Birth of Christ on Dec. 25th makes the winter warmer... it makes the dark days a lot brighter. Thanks to whatever smart Saint thought this one up! It's a winner, that's for sure.  (Feb 27, 2008 | post #281)

Are you going to hell?

Hell--a destination after death with immense suffering and little chance of escape is a concept of almost every religion--from Catholicism to Tibetan Bhuddism to Hinduism. Personally I don't want to take the chance of going there.  (Feb 27, 2008 | post #427)

Global Warming

What is your view of global warming?

How much CO2 is in the Atmosphere? Nitrogen makes up 78% of our air. Oxygen makes up 21%. That's 99% folks. Then there are the rare gases, Hydrogen, Helium, Neon, Argon, and don't forget water vapor. CO2 actually makes up .00037% of the atmosphere. Every Generation has it's bogeyman. Global Warming is our present bogeyman--a mythical beast that is all set to devour us unless we pay homage to the Environmentalist priests in Gaia's temple. Sound insane? It is.  (Jan 26, 2008 | post #713)
