Gun Companies Refuse Sales to State Governments with Stri...

It's a nice gesture. I notice that Colts Manufacturing, Smith & Wesson and other major suppliers to law enforcement and the US governent have not joined the boycot however. How long before Pres. Obama issues an executive order authorizing the transfer of federal firearms and ammunition as grants in aid from federal arsenals to local and state police in the affected states? Still you have to applaud a noble gesture like that.  (Feb 19, 2013 | post #5)

Oh I'd forgotten about that poll, Senior Woman-Good Grief-Grandpa Jones. Mayhaps I am TNM after all... will have to give that some more thought.  (Feb 13, 2013 | post #160)

Nice Disclosure, TNM. Thanks for filling in the gaps. I have always viewed your Topix participation in a positive light. You have been a valued contributor over the years. If it is any comfort, I shall herewith disavow any and all pretenses to being one of your alter egos. But then again... LOL WWW  (Feb 12, 2013 | post #109)

What's with the Jergens bar soap, AC? I used to buy it at Walmart about 10 years ago. It was in with the other hand and bath soaps. Have you tried the chickweed ointment for mange?  (Feb 12, 2013 | post #11)

Oh I just love it when people think I am Scott Davis! Thank you for making my day. Beowulf-Good Grief-Senior Woman-Nancy used to do that a lot. Even more she has been perpetually convinced I am her sister Rosanna. That's simply a hoot. (Personally I suspect the whole Miller clan sprang full blown from the fertile brow of Jir Cough's mother. Talk about your literary pretensions! But that's another story.)  (Feb 12, 2013 | post #88)

I think she ordered the scooter model with the big PTO shart projecting up through the seat. Maybe that will calm her back down.  (Feb 12, 2013 | post #85)

My, my! Are you mayhaps one of the Minds of Miller, Magic Trix? Your persona has shifted in recent weeks from the genial hostess of popular song and movie contests to acrid attacks on fellow posters. Don't cross you, or you bend out of shape like a wax Easter bunny left too long in the sun. We saw much the same metamorphosis in one of the Miller women a few years ago -- Beowulf-Good Grief was it? I'm not ready for a battle of wits with you. Life is too short, and I'm short of wits anyhow. It is better to choose one's own battles rather than let the Topix trolls drag one into every fray. Namaste, moi druzhog.  (Feb 11, 2013 | post #80)

Spelling Pet Peeves

It is popular (and “politically correct” it seems) to appear trendy and all-inclusive with respect to spelling and grammar. Heavens! let us not allow the ignorant to feel left out! No idiot left behind, my bruthers! But how many of you would feel right singing the hymn "Greater Is He That Is in You than He That Is in the World" if it were updated to read "Greater Is Him Who Is in You than Him What's in the World"?  (Feb 11, 2013 | post #82)

Thank you, Image. Scott is one of the few decent Topix participants. Fortunately there are a few others... you yourself coming to mind.  (Feb 11, 2013 | post #55)

The Naked Man uses alternate identities sparingly and for a variety of reasons, as do I. All told, IMHO, we pale by comparison with the "Mighty Fistful" of personality jugglers to whom you refer. Scott Davis is in no way responsible for 80% of the posters on Topix 43311. No way.  (Feb 11, 2013 | post #50)

Teaparty dude kills and kidnaps

I am puzzled as to why and on whose order the situation was taken out of the hands of the local sheriff and turned over to the federal government. The traditional, legal and logical agency to handle hostage situations is either the local police department or the county sheriff. SWAT teams have existed in our country for decades. Most jurisdictions by now have their own highly trained crews. The few that don't normally call upon their own state's highway patrol or state police. Does anyone know why local control was usurped in this case? I could care less that an old man with dementia was put out of his misery, and I am glad the boy was rescued. It does bother me however that the wrong branch of government did the job. That is a disturbing trend indeed.  (Feb 5, 2013 | post #10)

This news story is a liberal's "nightmare"

No modern army on Earth uses handguns and shotguns as anything but backup sidearms. Such weapons are useful only for personal protection. You don't go to war armed with revolvers and hunting knives. The only use for gun registration is to create confiscation lists. It happened in the People's Republic of California in the wake of Sen. Feinstein and Boxer's first "assualt weapons" ban. Let's not go through that again.  (Jan 26, 2013 | post #64)

communist party usa backs obama gun control

You liberals who scorn the idea of a citizen militia posing a serious counter threat to the armed might of the entire USA might do well to remember the Vietnam War. Those peasants over there in pajamas created one hell of a lot of trouble for the most mechanized and high tech army on Earth. A lot of them died in the process, true, but some 50,000 US GIs came home in body bags, probably five times that number were crippled for life and the best fighting technology of the era was turned into scrap metal by men and women bearing antiquated bolt-action rifles, revolvers, AK-47 rifles and sticks of dynamite. Ask the widows and children of our fallen soldiers and airmen if a citizen army is any joke. In the end, thoroughly demoralized, the United States sued for “peace with honor” and pulled its forces out of Vietnam, which then promptly went 100% Communist. Consider too that if a civil war were to break out in the United States tonight, many regular army and weekend warriors would refuse to fire upon their brothers, fathers and neighbors and would instead defect to the insurgency, taking their weapons and helicopters with them. Most serious conservative thinkers know this to be true, and so do the politicians. That is why they would like to take away our arms. The citizen militia is a most serious threat to government gone a muck. It is what keeps America free.  (Jan 26, 2013 | post #6)
