MJ Race for Mayor

I feel your pain. Seems this whole week has gone to pot for me.  (Oct 17, 2008 | post #3)

Whatever! I don't believe that, and I don't judge people by others. And I certainly don't vote for the "cute" guy. I've heard that several times on here. Is there a bit of jealousy going on? Talk to the hand. You're too close-minded to talk to.  (Oct 16, 2008 | post #238)

MJ Race for Mayor

danintenn said: "I'm all for that as this is the thread that wont die. Think it goes away and a week later, boom, back with the same old stuff that was discussed/argued about already. I'm about to have a dadgum stroke here, either that or wrap my head in duct tape so it doesn't explode and I need a break from it..lol. I also know one of the candidates, the former mayor and alot of the stuff that the current administration takes credit for he got the ball rolling on the projects during his term and she gets the photo ops and glory for it. JMHO on that. Uhoh...did I create another controversy?..lol If theres any "change" needed in politcs I think its here in this town because of all the political backstabbing and BS going on." I've heard the same about the former mayor, Mike Mack I believe is his name? Since we've only lived here for 4 years now, I don't know him or much about him, or much about any of them to be honest. I know Jim Bradshaw, think he's a good man and has some good ideas. But from some dealings with him on projects here, I'm not sure he has the "back-bone " needed. He has a hard time standing up to the rest of the council. I've heard that Mack was a good Mayor, and he is all about growth and bringing in business.  (Oct 16, 2008 | post #1)

I know we have some MJ people on here (umm, danintenn). How about some hometown politics? We need some change here too. Help me out with all these different candidates we've got running for mayor. I know about a couple of them, and have some thoughts on them. But been working too much to study the rest very much lately. Got any thoughts? Want to start a new thread?  (Oct 15, 2008 | post #231)

Tenn. Baby Named Sarah McCain Palin

I think it's ridiculous that they named her that, especially since the election isn't over yet. Will they want to change it if McCain doesn't win? Hmmm. But, it isn't a horoble name at least, or something stupid that she would be ridiculed with.  (Oct 15, 2008 | post #88)

The school he attended was not Muslim. It's been investigated and confirmed it isn't. And even if it was, so what? US citizens have a wrong view of most Muslims. They are not (most are not) the terrorist that we here about on the news. I don't agree with their beliefs, but they are their beliefs and they're allowed to them. And just because you're dark skinned and live on another continent doesn't make you Muslim. My husband's family are from Scilily, but we're not Mafiosa (although, some ancestors, well....) :D Personally, I could care less if he were green and came from Mars. We need change in this country, and I believe he is it.  (Oct 15, 2008 | post #87)

What do you want? To see his birth certificate? His driver's liscence, ss card? Diploma? His father's military records?  (Oct 15, 2008 | post #85)

I'd like to know what Bible you've been reading. I should apologize now for calling you an idiot. You obviously have no control over it.  (Oct 14, 2008 | post #57)

Tuskegee Airmen Honored With Historic Site In Ala.

There are still many areas of our history that are not taught to the extent they should be in our schools. This is one of them. I don't think I ever of the Tuskeegee Airmen until I got into college. That's a shame  (Oct 14, 2008 | post #5)

I Salute them also. I really got interested in this part of history after reading the novel "After the War" by Richard Marius (now deceased) and then having the privaledge to interview Mr. Marius. You guys would love this historical fiction if you ever have a chance to read it. One of the characters is a young African-American man who comes back from flying in the war, and returns to the South to fly crop dusters. It tells how he recognizes the differences in how he was treated in France (more liberal) than the Old South here (still racist at that time.)  (Oct 14, 2008 | post #4)

Want to name call? Okay! You're an IDIOT! Obama is not and never has been a Muslim. He is a Christian! He was born and raised in Hawaii, father from Kenya (that's in Africa if you don't know, not the middle east), mother from midwest US. He never went to a Muslim school. And yes, he IS AN AMERICAN Citizen, and always has been!  (Oct 14, 2008 | post #54)

Tennesseans Make Their Causes Heard On World Stage

From http://www.history central.com/Docume nts/Clinton/Signin gNaFTA.html THE PRESIDENT (Clinton speaking): Thank you very much. Mr. Vice President, President Bush, President Carter, President Ford, ladies and gentlemen. I would like to acknowledge just a couple of other people who are in the audience because I think they deserve to be seen by America since you'll be seeing a lot more of them: my good friend, Bill Daley, from Chicago; and former Congressman Bill Frenzel from Minnesota, who have agreed to lead this fight for our administration on a bipartisan basis. Would you please stand and be recognized. (Applause.) "It's an honor for me today to be joined by my predecessor, .... President Bush, who took the major steps in negotiating this North American Free Trade Agreement....; President Jimmy Carter, whose vision of hemispherical development gives great energy to our efforts and has been a consistent theme of his for many, many years now; and President Ford who has argued as fiercely for expanded trade and for this agreement as any American citizen and whose counsel I continue to value.  (Oct 14, 2008 | post #49)

Being a POW doesn't make anyone qualified to be President. McCain is out of touch. And if people want to use the Bible in politics, then how can they support McCain who cheated on and abandoned his first wife when she was mentally/physicall y suffering and take up with what he has now? And I certainly haven't heard mention of his religious beliefs. I agree, NAFTA was bad and needs to be done away with. But, research your facts, because Clinton was not the main one to get that thru. Bush senior started that.  (Oct 14, 2008 | post #48)
