I am not taking up for out sheriff (I didn't even vote for him) but what could he do? He couldn't run them out of town like the old days. Yes, he could have took their threats serious and maybe sent officers out there sooner but we would have had dead officers sooner. The law has to to be unbias. A lot of people make threats but don't follow thru. I guess he took a chance and lost. I asked what would happen if the "Bixby Followers" came to town when the trial starts and there are fued between the families of Donny and Danny. It was stated that the law must have a blind eye and arrest all involved. That seems awful to me. Of course the families of the officers are going to be hurt to have to hear their BS. All of the officers I know have already found the Bixby's guilty. All of Abbeville have found them guilty. I hope all the facts come out so all these people who are spreading false statements can see them. Donny was shot in the back. He was heading to the door and a local chiropractor hollered take cobver Donny, they ahve a gun. He turned to run and was shot. PERIOD. Danny was inside already dead. (Feb 12, 2007 | post #44)

Someone wrote that earlier. It is just a bunch of BS from that crazy bunch of "militia " that are defending the Bixby's. Has anyone done any research on the inernet? Some are saying all kind of false statements just to get people riled up. Especially that wanna be lawyer from NC that has been coming down here filing stuff for them. He has a whole web page explaining what happened in the Bixby's view. He is not even a lawyer, just some crazy that knows how to abuse the law. Does anyone think there is going to be trouble? Murder Trial Puts Focus on Land Rights
I don't believe that the Indians should have been killed for the land. But what is land. Does land save you? Can you have family and friends because you have land?When you die your land goes to someone else. Too much emphasis is put on how much you own and who can "tresspass " on it. Isn't that why the Indians were killed out. We were on their land. Is that the mindset of the Bixby's? The Bixby's chose Abbeville. Why I don't know. Now they have hurt our community because of a stupid litle track of land. I own 50+ acres in Abbeville. Land and a home that was passed down from generation to generation. If they decided to widen the road in front of my house, they would. I would NOT kill anyone over it and I am a life long citizen of Abbeville.The Bixby's moved here. What would make a person kill officers for land? Are they crazy? The judge said they are component to stand trial. You would have to be crazy to do what they did. I hope after this is over things will get back to the way thing where. We are already hearing about people from the militia coming to Abbeville. Is there goin g to be more violence? I hope not. There are a lot of people on 72 who gave up there land for the widenning of the highway. Some people gave up most of there front yard, a whole lot more than the Bixby's. Everyone was paid, except for the one's who refused to sell then theres was taken. It doesn't give anyone the right to spurt nonsense to the workers who are doing there job or to kill 2 police officers for doing theirs. Who do you call when you need protection? I am thankful for the job the law enforcement we have in Abbeville do.I was raised to respect the law. I have a family full of police officers. Some where there that night and I can't imagine what I would do if one of my family had got killed because of a stupid land dispute. I have said this once and I will say it again, nobody is forcing anyone to stay in Abbeville county. Leave and see if it is any better anywhere else. (Feb 7, 2007 | post #4)
