16-year-old found guilty in Casco Township murder

I have to take offense at this and some other posts here, as I do know the family and yes I do admit that Margie is some piece of work and a worthless human being. I am related to Brandon on his father's side. His father and no one else on this side of the family have ever been convicted of a crime or committed any crimes, we do not do drugs (therefore we are not drug addicts or alcholics), we are responsible people and work hard at our jobs to support those we love. I am so very sorry for what happened to maryann and her family and have prayed for them everyday since hearing of the incident. I know that Brandon's father did everything he possibly could do to get his children back in his custody, but alas margie's lies and the lies she taught her children to tell the judges, influenced the courts in her favor. I highly believe that if the courts back then would have listened to the pleas of the father that those children would turn into no good, that what happened to maryann would have never taken place. I have never said that buthcie or brandon were not guilty of what they did. I've stated that they were both as guilty as the other and should pay for what they did. I have even gone further and stated that their mother should also be charged with something for her part in trying to help cover it up. Again I would like to stress my sympathy and sorrow for maryann's family, I know it probably won't help any especially coming from a member of Brandon's family, but I truly do have sympathy for them, because I know what it is like to loose someone very close to you. I didn't loose this person to something as tragic as murder, but I did loose this person when I was 18, that person was my mother and her death was very sudden. She never got to see her children graduate high school or college, see them get married or have her grandchildren. So I think I can somewhat relate what I felt and still feel today, with what maryann's family is feeling and I pray that with the conviction of Butchie and Brandon for what they did will put them at peace a little and that it will help them to move forward in life. God bless all of you who have read this post, especially if you are a member of Maryann's family.  (Feb 4, 2007 | post #54)

In answer to your question, yes, I'd turn my child in or in the very least advise them to turn themselves in. It's the right thing to do, I was brought up to respect the law and to respect others. Oh, and wake up and smell the coffee brewing, if you don't think Margie is involved in covering up the crime, then your the one from another planet not I. It's fact that she knew of the incident on Wednesday morning why did she wait until Thursday to go check out the scene and call the police? SHAME ON HER FOR NOT ADVISING HER CHILDREN TO TURN THEMSELVES IN!!!! As for Brandon and Butchie's sister, she's non of your business, her name hasn't been mentioned in any of the papers and she isn't part of what happened to Maryann. She wasn't there, she wasn't living under Margie's roof at that time and she isn't now either (that's why she is doing so good, not much contact with her mother). Be careful, anonymous, you might be opening yourself up for a lawsuit by putting her name in print.  (Nov 28, 2006 | post #26)

To answer your question, yes, I would have turned my child in or in the very least advised him or them to turn themselves in (the right thing to do, I was brought up to respect the law and to respect others). If Brandon and Butchie would have turned themselves in, maybe the charges wouldn't have been so harsh and the punishment more lienent, a slim chance but a chance that I would have wanted my child to take, instead of being a fugitive and not taking the responsibility for their actions. It has been reported and has even been brought up in the trial that Brandon called his mother. What do you think he said to her in those conversations? He had to have told her something awful happened and How do you think Butchie got back in Margie's custody? He sure as hell didn't walk home!!!! Brandon took him home. They both went inside and things were discussed that couldn't be discussed over the phone. SHAME ON MARGIE FOR NOT ADVISING HER CHILDREN TO TURN THEMSELVES IN!!! SHE SHOULD BE CHARGED AS AN ACCESSORY!! Here is another tid bit to mull over, Margie never hesitated to call the police whenever Brandon had a warrant out for his arrest, she'd call them in a heartbeat! I have another question she knew of Maryann's death on Wednesday why did she wait until Thursday to go over there and then call the police? She was trying to cover up for Brandon and Butchie. Wake up and smell the coffee brewing, if you don't think she is involved, then your the one from another planet not I. As for Brandon and Butchie's sister, the only reason she is doing better (I say better because she herself has a record and isn't even 21 yet) because she does not live with her mother, she lives with someone that won't put up with bull and makes her tow the line. She also is doing well because she realizes that what mommy says isn't always the truth. Everyday this daughter of Margie's finds out new information about her mother that makes her realize her mother isn't a very good person and not to make decisions based on examples from her mother. (like putting cable and phone in your childs name and not paying the bills, doing that will ruin your child's credit in the future)  (Nov 28, 2006 | post #25)

Yes, Sue I was there, I know everything that went happened and why it happened. Really ruined my visit with everyone. Hey, dwalts, bet Margie forgot to tell you I was there. Ask her, I wouldn't let her in the house that day, I made her wait on the porch while her child packed so she could take the child with her. I don't need to check court records, I remember my testimony. The court system today has made it too easy for a child to have parents charged with wrong doing. Back when I was a child, I couldn't go running to the police to file false charges against my parents just because they displined me and reprimanded me for doing or saying something wrong. The police officers would laugh in my face and send me back home. Children need structure, rules, and guidance to become responsible adults.  (Nov 9, 2006 | post #13)

Butchie, in my opinion is just as guilty as Brandon. He has testified in court that he was there during the murder and did nothing to try and stop it, he's also said as much in the taped interviews with the police. Even telling a friend that he held Maryann down and hit her in the head with a mug and handed Brandon the knife. Why would he tell a friend he did that if he didn't? Butchie never stated in his testimony or his taped interviews that he was frightened of Brandon. He had opportunity to stop what was happening by leaving Maryann's home and getting help at a neighbors. He also had opportunity to report the incident afterward while Brandon was not around. Hasn't anyone asked asked how Butchie got back home? I beleive that after Brandon called his mother (she has said that he called her the night of the murder) that he drove Butchie home in the stolen car. I also beleive that Brandon and everyone in that household sat down at that time and discussed what was to happen next, his mother telling him that he had to dispose of evidence and how and where to dispose of it. I think she is as guilty as both Brandon and Butchie, she helped coverup the crime and on top of that waited over 24 hours to report the what happened to Maryann (for you dwalts, an interview with a reporter and printed in the newspaper is documentation of this, they state Margie reported it on June 1st, Thursday morning). She should be arrested, found guilty and be put in jail also. I have to tell you all of an occassion I was in Butchie's home and she was angry with him. She told me that he had taken the cat and teased the dog with that cat, aggrevating the dog so much that he killed the cat. While she was telling me this, Butchie was standing in the kitchen and laughing about it. I was appalled that he thought that was funny, this left me with a bad impression of Butchie. When hearing of Butchie's arrest in Maryann's murder, I was reminded of that incident. I just had to share that with everyone. Thank you and God Bless  (Nov 9, 2006 | post #12)

dwalts, I don't have to check court records, I know what that woman is like and how she raised those kids, both Brandon and his sister have stated that she was more of a friend than a mother, allowing them to do as they pleased. That she would even "party" with them providing them with the booze and drugs. They have even told me that their mother would make them steal things so she could pawn them to support her bad habits. Those are not the actions of a resonsible parent, are they? She has even put household utilities in one of her children's name, such as phone and cable, and never paid those bills (I've seen the credit reoport of that child). Both Brandon and his siter have confessed that what they did to their father and step-mother was wrong and that they did it because they had rules living with him and living with their mother they had none, so they did what their mother told them to do that would make the courts believe being placed back in her home would be best for them, even though, she has on several occassions attempted suicide. Attempted suicide being the reason the children were placed with the father when they were toddlers. I don't need to check court records, dwalts, the confessions of the children are all I need. dwalts, we learn from our parents, dear, so in my opinion yes the actions of a parent with the major influence makes our children what they turn into as adults.  (Nov 9, 2006 | post #11)
