What the heck is so difficult about not running a red light and why do so many people endlessly whine about it? Every time an article is written about red light cameras, all the "Big Brother" wackos take off their tinfoil hats and come out of their air-raid bunkers to warn us that we are being watched, brainwashed, fleeced of our last dime, bla-bla-bla. What Naperville did is just common sense and they have the statistics to back it up. Just obey the law and you won't have a problem. Does that mean I'm under the spell of Big Brother? No, just a taxpayer and what is known as a "law-abiding citizen". It's a novel concept - try it sometime. (Aug 3, 2009 | post #60)

Weight issue to sideline Chicago Bears nose tackle Marcus Harrison
I guess the season snuck up on him. He's talking about missing "only" a week or so. Of camp? Are you kidding me? What a lard-a#%. One would think he should be able to work that weight off quickly, assuming he wants to. (Jul 31, 2009 | post #5)
Devin Hester acknowledges Chicago Bears receivers have much to ...
The article says Tommie Harris will not be held out of practice. Sure hope it stays that way but I bet a buck he is held out before Day 5 arrives. (Jul 31, 2009 | post #4)
Chicago Bears put Jay Cutler-Brian Urlacher fodder behind them
Fred Mitchell must have been busy so Haugh took over the gossip beat. The story is incomplete. Haugh...what I want to know is, what did they have to eat today? Inquiring minds want to know! As far as the B&B show, I flipped on the radio to hear Bernstein, in his proffesorial manner explaining why such nonsense is fodder for talk radio. I listened for a few seconds, agreed with the point that it was a waste of time and changed the channel. I've already wasted more of my day than this stupid topic is even worth... time to move on. Report: NHL investigating Chicago Blackhawks' contract with Mar...
While the Hawks and this contract were apparently within the rules, maybe the rules need to be changed. I'm no lawyer (and I thank God for that every day) but maybe the league needs to simplify the cap rule to apply money spent during a given year to that same year. Maybe roll it forward 1 year, but not allow twists like the Hossa's contract has. As has been pointed out earlier, there is zero chance that Hossa would play out the last years of the contract as currently written. If a player got stolen from the Hawks by a team writing a funky contract, we would be all up in arms so I don't blame Detroit if they are the source of the complaint. Looks like they may have a point. (Jul 31, 2009 | post #10)
Wrong, Mike. I support cameras because of what I see as a motorist every day. So many people have the attitude that I'm above the law, my time is too precious, I'm busy - get out of my way. If you want to pay fines, keep doing what you are doing, fine by me. To the other guy that said we probably never got a ticket, he's right in my case. Of course there is a reason for that - I obey the LAW! (Jul 29, 2009 | post #54)
Va. Tech Institute: Texting while driving much more dangerous t...
VA Tech monitered drivers for 6 MILLION MILES to figure this out? Wonder who funded that study and who watched the film. Did you know that reading a novel or solving a complex math equation while driving increases the risk of an accident? Of course I can't prove this so perhaps we should commission a study to look into this. (Jul 28, 2009 | post #7)
How is being captured on camera while doing something illegal IN PUBLIC a violation of your rights? You have zero expecation of privacy in public. You broke a law. Pay. What is so complicated about this? If you don't want to pay, don't break the law. So much nonsense has been written on this board about people looking for ways to weasel out of it, things like "there was no traffic", "it was a sunny day", etc. Some idiot even suggested racial profiling. It's all a bunch of hooey - everyone seems to think that the law does not apply to them. All I can say is tell it to the judge. (Jul 28, 2009 | post #45)

U. of I. boss to testify on clout cases
Nicely played. There have been many fine posts on this board today. If they don't get fired, they should resign. Now that the Category I list has been exposed and supposedly stopped, I'm afraid that it will just go back to existing the old fashioned way - on a wink, a nod and a handshake. I'm still surprised these fools left such a mass of written evidence behind and were dumb enough to give it the whole slimy process a name. Amatuers all. (Jul 27, 2009 | post #12)

Rising veterinary bills present pet owners with a painful choice
Kevin, you are so far off base I don't even know where to start. For one thing, animals cannot help themselves. A good number of people taking charity are perfectly capable of helping themselves but prefer to leech off of others. I wouldn't lift a finger to help them. Not saying everyone is like this but examples abound. As far as commenting about children, you should just keep your mouth shut and hope you never wind up in this position; you obviously don't know what it's like and I hope you never do. Please do the rescue community a favor and never own a pet. It is people like you that throw their animals away because they get old, shed, bark or behave badly. Also, please consider a vasectomy to prevent yourself from breeding and perpetuating your species. (Jul 25, 2009 | post #88)
Rising veterinary bills present pet owners with a painful choice
"The fish's advanced age and her own squeamishness about sticking a needle in Bernard's eye led Weiss to have the fish put to sleep. It cost $100." A hundred bucks to flush a fish down the toilet? Now THAT is an outrage. (Jul 25, 2009 | post #84)
