Where's the Terry Bradshaw Steroids story?

From Dan Patrick Show, http://sportsillus trated.cnn.com/dan patrick/interviews /: "Terry Bradshaw has very interesting things to say about all sorts of performance-enhanc ing drugs. He also shares some of the scary medical standards from when he played the game." Audio of the interview, http://ht.cdn.turn er.com/si/danpatri ck/audio/2008/06/1 9/DP-Terry_Bradsha w-6-19-08_Intervie w.mp3 Juicy Bits from the interview: http://thebiglead. com/?p=6363 “My use of steroids from a doctor was to speed up injuries…and thought nothing of it. It was to speed up the healing process, that was it. It wasn’t to get bigger and faster.”  (Jun 24, 2008 | post #2)

Where's the Terry Bradshaw Steroids story?

Why isn't the Terry Bradshaw Steroids Story not listed in the Pittsburgh Steelers forum? I know the forum is edited by a roboblogger but come on even the roboblogger should now Bradshaw is synonymous with the Steelers?  (Jun 24, 2008 | post #1)

African-American

Compassionate Look At The Cultural (or Racial) Tensions I...

There's always a question raise of why people of color wants to hyphenate their identites and what a separate history to celebrate their race? My honest opinion is that, externally, people of color what to make sure that we Americans want to recognize their past and current contributions to American history, especially to outweigh current negative stereotypes. In the same respect, internally, people of color wants to remind their community of how they and their ancestors overcome past struggles and sacrifices for their current generations to thrive today. On one hand "mainstream " and "proper" has always been synomyous with "white". But yet not an recognized WASP ethnicity in American culture unless it's mention in past history, so can they be proud of themselves. If white pride is express it is seen as an expression of extreme white supremacy. You have you have ethnticity/cultura l institutions that celebrates the past/present/futur e experience of the Irish Americans, Italian Americans, Greek Americans, Armenian Americans, Polish Americans, Jewish Americans, German Americans, Portuguese Americans, Serbian Americans, etc. But you really don't see a celebration of Americans of English/British/UK , French, Spanish (Spain) unless they are recent immigrants. I ran across this organization called The Center for the Study of White American Culture (the Center), http://www.euroame rican.org/. The Center states on its website that it "supports cultural exploration and self-discovery among white Americans. It encourages a dialogue among all racial and cultural groups concerning the role of white American culture in the larger American society. The Center operates on the premise that knowledge of one's own racial background and culture is essential when learning how to relate to people of other racial and cultural groups. We believe the task of building genuine and authentic relationships across racial and cultural lines is crucial to the future well-being of America. Toward these ends the Center actively encourages participation by white Americans and Americans of color, women and men, alike. The Center maintains that the views of both insiders and outsiders contribute to understanding a culture. The Center also acknowledges that gender, class and ethnic differences are intertwined with racial ones, and must be explored as part of a complete study of racial and cultural difference." So you can say the Center is aiming to be like a Center of African (Black) American Studies, Latino/Hispanic American Studies, Asian/Pacific America n studies etc. I don't subscribe to always demonizind white people just as I don't always subscribe to demonizing people of color. Each ethnicity is complex and complicated and adds, every day, to the texture of the American experience. Americans have a right to celebrate their postive cintributions as well as internal examinzation of the negative just like that of people of color without backlash and with compassionate understanding. More & more these days I prefer the use of the term ethnicity to the term of race: Race is an out-date social construct imposed on people rather. Ethncity signifies a more honest & organic enclaving of people seeking other people of similar past/current experiences and culure and goals.  (Jun 24, 2008 | post #1)

Des Moines, IA

Cedar Rapids, Iowa Battles Historic Flood

QUOTE who="Work Ethic in Iowa"]The news showed this terrible flood. The townspeople were out in masse, filling and stacking sandbags to protect their town. This is the kind on community spirit and responsible reaction to disaster that was missing in New Orleans. Pre teens to gray haired grandmothers were working as hard as they could to stem the rising waters. No one in Iowa was looting, or shooting at rescue helicopters, or blaming someone else for their problems. [/QUOTE] Des Moines, IA experiences floods more frequently than N.O., LA. Eventhough N.O. experiences hurricanes more often than Des Moines N.O.'s levee systems do not become overwhelmed as often as Des Moines. Therefore the citizens and government of Des Moines were better prepared to respond to a flooding ER than the citizens and government of N.O. Also the population density is higher in N.O. than that of Des Moines. A good analogy is the difference of responses between Atlanta and Wichita to tornadoes: there are no tornado sirens in Atlanta because we don't expect tornadoes . The same case with snow: Atlanta panics, makes a run on food, and shuts down while Buffalo shovel the snow aside and continue on to work and school and have snowball fights. Hopefully the next time N.O. experiences massive flooding like in Katrina, the citizens and government will be better prepared as well as Atlanta for tornadoes.  (Jun 13, 2008 | post #69)
