HELP! - Steve Earle is Being Ripped Off!

Are you still so bitter after 2 or 3 yrs? I am sorry that things didn't work out for you to see Steve during that tour. I saw him twice. He's never given less than $5000 worth of music for a $30 ticket, never in the 20 plus yrs I've been proud to call him my hero. Sorry for your loss.  (Sep 20, 2011 | post #46)

HELP! - Steve Earle is Being Ripped Off!

One hit wonder? Look again, Pedro. Steve Earle has given more to the music in this country, in his generation, than shiny little girls like Miranda Lambert ever will hope to give. Real, hard, true songwriting that has endured and grown and become a part of what is best of music. Always.  (Sep 20, 2011 | post #45)

Steve Earle has "wrecked more marriages" I am assuming you mean his own, not those of others. Miranda's "ripoff" is blatant, I don't see how you are asserting Steve Earle has ripped off anyone. He doesn't need to do that. Real talent will out the flash in the pan stuff of folks like Lambert who, I don't imagine, will be around in another 25 years. Nice try.  (Sep 20, 2011 | post #44)

Earle and Morello at Labor Day festival in St. Paul

Hey, I live in Bloomington, MN, and have my tickets for the Labor Day show, am counting down the days til I can see Steve Earle again and cheer with the workers who keep life going...and, to say "die" about anyone is really just ignorant...besides , I think Steve would say he was a hillbilly before a hippie!! Keep Rockin' Steve!!  (Aug 23, 2008 | post #4)

Sandy you are so right....Steve Earle is a gift from God, his music and his heart have carried a lot of us through bad, and good, times.... But, don't forget Gram Parsons...I saw him in Austin, Texas, in 1973 when I was a junior in high school, right before his death...he, too, was an inspiration for Steve Earle...and all of the "country " music today is just the same old same old to me....country died with Waylon, I think, but Steve Earle and a few others keep the better part of it still kickin....  (Aug 23, 2008 | post #24)

HELP! - Steve Earle is Being Ripped Off!

hello my friend, you are right, Lambert's stuff seems to come right from Steve Earle, who I have also loved for 20 yrs, he's a great inspiration to me not only for his incredible music, but his sobriety, i am a recovery addict/alcoholic with 11 months clean, it's been my "ghetto" time like Steve had... as far as I know, Lambert didn't have okay from anyone to write this song...i could be wrong because i am wrong a lot....copy all they will though, no one will ever touch Steve Earle's music and beautiful talent... God bless Steve...  (Aug 23, 2008 | post #23)

HELP! - Steve Earle is Being Ripped Off!

oh, come on....David Allen Coe??? I like his music, too, but Steve Earle is the greatest songwriter alive today and should be given credit for all he has endured and overcome...i speak from personal experience, as a recovering addict myself, he is a great inspiration to many of us.....God bless Steve Earle...  (Oct 26, 2007 | post #21)

HELP! - Steve Earle is Being Ripped Off!

you guys are all so right, i've lost heart with so much country music thse days, esp. the new young male singers. to me, they all look alike, they all sound alike, they must come out of some machine somewhere....there are so many reasons i love Steve Earle and his music, his incredible song writing, his passion, his obvious joy at just being on stage, true we may not have the same political views, but to me he is far and away the best songwriter an singer around today..and, i pray we have him another 50 years! Keep rockin' Steve and, i know i say this all the time, but please come back to Minneapolis! we love you!  (Oct 2, 2007 | post #20)

Steve Earle Goes to "Washington"

i love steve earle, have for a long time, since we were both "kids" in Texas!!! i guess i can say here, without fear of retribution, that we don't necessarily share the same political views, steve and i, but i think that is what makes our country great....i hope there's room here for a middle aged mom who might not always be on the same page as everyone else....but, i admire him greatly for overcoming so many things, his chemical dependency for one, i've struggled with the same for 10 years, have chronic pain problems, try to stay on as little narcotic assistance as i can, but i have to admit i haven't always been successful with that... anyway, i just hope he comes back to Minneapolis one day, i saw him when we first came up here in 1987...a long time ago...wow, 20 years...i am old, huh??? God bless all..... keep rockin' Steve!!!  (Sep 9, 2007 | post #2)
