Family in need this Christmas

If they smoked, I was going to break down how much money they could save for presents, just by quitting for two months in preparation for Christmas.  (Friday | post #18)

Family in need this Christmas

I like your take on Christmas. I do not think I would ever teach my kids about Santa, either. It is a useless myth, unless you need it to keep your kids in line during the months of November and December, I guess. Just remember, the REAL reason for the season is not anyone's birthday. It is simply a reworking of the winter solstice celebration which was repackaged to appeal to a young christian religion while it was still in it's infancy.  (Friday | post #17)

Humane Society Benefit and Auction

I was the best looking guy in the place. And, probably, the youngest. It was an interesting evening and a good cause. I just wish they would have had more than one cook and one server working (I couldn't see more than one). The food took ages to get to the table and getting a refill on a beverage was near impossible. Still, I'm glad I attended. I will back to Megabites and give them another chance to wow me with their food/service. I think it was a bit too busy to judge them on last night's performance. Thank you for hosting this event.  (Friday | post #14)

What do you think is the worst drug problem in Crossville?

My reasoning is based solely on numbers. More people use alcohol so, statistically, I would think it would cause more problems.  (Friday | post #18)

Alcohol. By a long shot.  (Thursday Dec 17 | post #8)

Peavine Liquors

Actually, it sounds like she is a smart business woman who wants to keep her eye on her business so her cashiers don't give the store away. The minute an owner steps away from their investment, the investment suffers. Hard working owners are hard to find and are not obligated to hire ANYONE.  (Thursday Dec 17 | post #34)

Jesus Christ. I never said you can't manage money. What I said was, if someone decides to help you get over your monetary troubles, you may want to think about putting that money away and helping yourself out of your financial bind instead of providing presents for your toddlers. It might be put to better use that way. And I'm glad you do not smoke.  (Thursday Dec 17 | post #13)

Did you know?

Individuals who presided over the Continental Congress during the Revolutionary period and under the Articles of Confederation had the title "President of the United States in Congress Assembled," often shortened to "President of the United States". The office had little distinct executive power. With the 1788 ratification of the Constitution, a separate executive branch was created, headed by the president of the United States." - Wikipedia. So, it looks like it is a matter of semantics. The office of the President of the United States of America did not exist until the ratification of the US Constitution. However, there were men that held the title of President of the United States in Congress Assembled prior to that document, who had considerably less power and did not head the yet-to-be-created executive branch of government. Two separate offices, for sure, but an interesting piece of trivia nonetheless. Thanks again.  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #12)

And if the parents do not spend money wisely, they will also know what starvation is. A 2 year old will not only get over missing gift exchange, they will also never remember it.  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #9)

motorcycle clubs

If you are a law abiding citizen, check out the Southern Cruisers. They have a website and are a great organization. I am a member of a local chapter. If you are an outlaw biker, please shoot yourself in the eye socket and give us all an early christmas present.  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #17)

I love how someone judged my post clueless and mean. How in the world is this clueless OR mean? I just gave this person some solid advice. Christmas does not HAVE to include gift giving (especially to infants that will not even remember it anyway). You have been duped by marketing ploys and commercial advertisements. Take a year off and save your fu$%ing money. What is the big deal? You people just baffle me.  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #7)

But isn't the Constitution the document that created the office of President of the United States of America in the first place? How could one hold an office that does not exist yet? I see where you are coming from but it is kind of like calling yourself the mayor of Lake Tansi. The office simply doesn't exist. Maybe one day it will but you would have no station until an official document put you there.  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #8)

2 1/2 year old babies do not need a gift exchange. Christmas will still come, regardless of your ability to buy gifts. Do yourself a favor and skip the presents this year. Use the money you may receive from those willing to help to get yourself back in a position to provide for the little ones next year. They will have no idea that you skipped Christmas. By the way, do you smoke cigarettes?  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #5)
