Home invasion in New Haven's East Rock neighborhood

if someone breaks into your house and you have made the decision to use deadly force make sure the force is deadly! dead men tell no lies! if i shoot a robber and he is lucky enough to live, i would be more worried about him returning for revenge than worrying about a lawsuit! imo, the best weapon for home defense would be a 20 or preferably 12 ga. shotgun. try to buy one with the shortest barrel possible. this will make it easier to swing around in a hurry. as far as ammunition goes i load up with a buckshot round then a slug.the effects on a sheet of plywood are devastating. a shotgun makes a good defense weapon for a bunch of reasons, i believe the best is that you can point and shoot. with a pistol you need to raise the weapon look down the sights and fire, takes time, more for a beginner. well those were my thoughts on that one. i'm out...  (May 1, 2008 | post #37)

Mother Grieves For Her Toddler

you kind of hit the nail on the head pam .kind of... most of the people in this discussion start of by saying "i dont think she meant to kill the baby" or something similar. none of us really knows what happened and the guy you replied to is just thinking she really intended this whole thing. he could have chosen a better way to voice his opinion. but thats all it was.. his opinion.i myself would like to think she didnt do it on purpose but its a little hard to believe her story. i suppose time will tell.  (Jan 18, 2008 | post #49)

Automatic weapons spell trouble

i am a permit holder in my state so i have gun experience. i dont think it makes much difference if some scumbag decides to shoot up a mall with an auto rifle, shotgun, pistol or a revolver. any one of them is just as deadly as the other. we just have to find a way to keep them out of criminals hands. figure that one out and you will go down in the history books.  (Dec 21, 2007 | post #190)

Police: Victims had shown guns to suspects

nothing wrong with collecting guns, legal ones. but there is no need to show a couple teenagers your collection. that was just plain stupid.sounds kinda shitty but the guy caused his own problems.  (Dec 21, 2007 | post #16)

Teen Dies After Transplant Funds Nixed

the freakin insurance co. should be sued by the teens family. i know it wont bring their loved one back but im sure they could use it somehow. i wonder how many others have died at the hands of the big insurance companies.its a real shame.  (Dec 21, 2007 | post #261)

A Frightening Obsession

what a freak! how could you let an obsession get so far out of control that you go to jail for it? 10 yrs... long time. i read somewhere he's filing for an appeal. a rifle, backpack full of ammo and evidence he was coming to ct? i'm glad he's caught!  (Dec 21, 2007 | post #68)

Tractor-Trailer Loses Brakes, Causes I-84 Crash

the dot is too focused on mid sized commercial vehicles traveling on secondary state roads when they should pay more attention to the huge semi's rocketing through our state with hazardous materials in them. i see so many big trucks on the highway with bald trailer tires, no lights and more violations.they need to be slowed down consistantly, inspected regularly. and spot checks need to be set up more often at the rest stops.  (Dec 9, 2007 | post #5)

Arrest In East Granby Stabbing --

are you retarded? how the hell are we supposed to get knives of the street? we cant even keep the guns off the street. i am almost speechless your post has yto be the most ridiculous thing ive read in years."the safe handling of a knife from a certified instructor" you have got to be joking. so lets say you and i got into a fight. now i used to have a knife but some crazy law was passed to keep me from carrying that knife. so i pick up a nice rock and split your skull open from end to end. should we ban rocks? do i need to be instructed on how to properly use a rock? cmon now. when i was a kid knives with a blade longer than four fingers was illegal. the funny thing was almost every one of us had a big knife. you can create new laws but they are worth as much as your post if no one obeys them.  (Oct 3, 2007 | post #90)
